Probably the tooling budget for the wave. Movie figures are always more expensive to make due to the (usually) lack of recycled parts. This wave had three movie figures plus a BAF and an all new Iron Man that didn't reuse parts. They probably didn't have the cash left over for another movie figure at that point.

I think the CGI HUlks have all looked bad to be honest. Nothing replaced the believability of Bixby/Ferrigno in my eyes. I find Mark Ruffalo to be a very sub-par Banner. I think Eric Bana and Ed Norton were better, especially the latter. In today's movies, the action is forgettable, everything has a too close up shot(s), and are poorly framed. Most of the action is hard to follow and disjointed. People remember action scenes of real actors, because it looks better and better paced. Many of the wire-work stuff looks fantastic for those into Asian cinema. The overused, shoddy CGI has killed action scenes....they all blend in with one another. The best MCU fight scenes were in the Winter Soldier for a reason. |

That's not to say we won't get an MCU Shuri down the road. For all we know, she has a bigger role during Infinity War or somewhere else down the road, and might receive a true MCU figure then. Or not...time will tell. Quote:

The overused, shoddy CGI has killed action scenes....they all blend in with one another. The best MCU fight scenes were in the Winter Soldier for a reason. I understand CGI's role in these films, as it can help to make something from the panels carry on in three dimensions, but sometimes it's a just a bit too much, and it sucks the physical life out of a scene. As cool as Spidey looks leaping around in the more current films, no fight scene he has been in has ever been as visceral, violent, or just plain ole good looking as his final battle with the Green Goblin in Spider-Man 1, and that was with Defoe looking like he stepped out of an episode of Super Sentai. An even better example would be the Matrix. The final battle between Neo and Smith in the first film was absolutely amazing, and still looks great, while the battle between Neo and a hundred copies of Smith in Reloaded looks like a green screened cartoon that quickly zaps you out of the action. If some of the CG stuff was scaled back a bit, Marvel films might be able to draw me back to the theater to watch and support them when they come out, instead of waiting 6 months later for when they pop up on Netflix or Redbox. Went to my local TRU yesterday.while i wanted to search around abit myself,i really wanted to find a learning toy for 6 month old son. Anywho long story short, i found a toy i thought was acceptable for him.
However to my disappointment, nothing that was actually stocked on the shelves had correct pricing, the place had nothing new, the shelves were less then freshly stocked for a little bit prior to 12 in the afternoon. Mind all of you they open at 10am. The floors were filled with garbage from boxes, papers, clumps of dirt etc. Oh and not an employee to be found anywhere to ask a question if needed. So of course no Shuri/Klaw 2 pack.... and they wonder why they had to claim bankruptcy and shutting their stores down nationwide. Sorry for the long rant... just was very disappointed. With TRU |

That sounds like every TRU ever right after Xmas until the end of Jan. Even back in the 90s the TRU employees told us they wouldn't really get any new product in until the third week of the month.

QFT. I know some areas TRU has got to be better but it sounds like yours is on par with mine. Just....abysmal. Every single exclusive I got from them I got online, though of course much later I finally saw in store. In some cases much much later Finally saw Groot in October o_O. I am hating that the two pack isn't available for shipping nor is it on Amazon at any price/any seller.

Tru is to toys what uwe boll films are to the academy awards. Mine has nothing as well. Christ i cant even find a skullitron from the last tf film. And my local failmarts have absolutely nothing stocked in their boys toys aisle. Hell even the lego aisles are utterly bare.

The toy department at Wal Mart gets reset in January, different weeks depending on the store (my store should be this week), and until that reset happens (almost) all the new toys and figures are held in back. That is why the shelves are looking so bare at a lot of Marts. They have to go through and get all the stuff that is not on the new mod, usually a lot of Lego and at my store all the Thor and Guardians Legends, and put them on clearance before they can change all the layouts, tags, and what not before the new stuff can go out. Target does the same thing but since most Targets are smaller toy sections they can get it done a lot faster.

what i saw they had an abundant amount of which i nearly fell over because its considered old at this point. was that vision, kate bishop, and whoever else 3 pack.... but besides that. how can a store be so sh!tty ??? garbage on the floors, close to empty pegs during the early afternoon, nothing is in the right place with the correct pricing and even the employees are nowhere to be found. hell the cashier didnt even want to do jack i can tell, and they literally just opened 1 hour and half or so before that.
this is the main reason i stay away from TRU stores here in south florida they are just horrible. as i've told a few of you in the past i usually have much more luck with with walmarts, and of course paying the extra few bucksfor shipping and ordering online. it's just such a shame that this toys r us has become so bad. i recall going to the local one as a child with either my parents or grandparents back in the late 80s and early 90s. the stores were clean, fully stocked and the employees wanted to help you. i know i sound like a broken record because i recall mentioning this years back. but i remember one of the workers would grab a fresh case of TMNT for my grandmother and me and let me take the ones i needed. didn't matter there was fully stocked shelves and so fourth. these stores have gone down the drain IMMENSELY.... |

I remember the stock guys, taking time and looking at the boxes and finding the characters I wanted. Employees now, simply do not care. It could be the current generation that work in said places, never collected toys and have little to no idea what the heck is an action figure. Different theories, but it is what you think it is essentially. People think those times are gone for good, but eventually it will return, as people yearn for simplicity from the past and the market will open and provide it or a man with a GOOD brain will find a untapped, niche market. I yearn for train stores and a more family friendly environment involving toys, and eventually that need will be filled by me or someone like myself who has the wherewithal to do it. |

Reports are now starting to flow in from various sites that Tom Holland's Spider-Man will indeed appear in Venom, but as to what capacity is unsure. Could be a major role or an end of movie cameo. If this turns out to be true...I'm wondering if the backlash by fans about Venom being it's own separate thing was enough to force Sony and Disney to backpedal? I'm also wondering what it will do to the story now, as originally it looked like it was crossing over a lot of elements from the Ultimate universe (the symbiote being non alien in origin) along with the Lethal Protector (Life Foundation/San Francisco setting) and the Planet of the Symbiotes (multiple symbiotes run amuck on the public) storyline.

The employees not caring is a part of something that got me in trouble on Tokunations. It's one of the "isms" that really has devalued the employees in America.

TL;DR: maybe don't shittalk retail employees. They already have enough to deal with. Last edited by Jeddostotle7; 01-16-2018 at 06:36 PM.. |
