Is it a figure worth picking up? The figure features the return of Action Attack, with a Tornado Kick gimmick. In doing so, the mid-body articulation has been removed. It does have waist articulation, due to the gimmick implementation. The button to trigger the Tornado Kick gimmick is hidden when the armored vest is on. *Note that the sample reviewed may not be complete* |

With GI Joe series of high potential and some having already acclaimed critical success, IDW & Hasbro intend to push forth more plans and bring in some fan-favorites. What do they have in mind? Get ready for homages to "Silent Interlude"! Schmidt nicknamed September's "G.I.Joe Origins"#19 "Silent Crescendo" as it features a silent Snake-Eyes story by Larry Hama and Joe Benitez. Hama noted that he actually choreographed the fight sequences for the layouts with weapons from his own collection. IDW will also release a recolored reprint of the classic G.I.Joe story "Silent Interlude" with a new cover by Ashley Wood as a retailer incentive. GI Joe Origins #20 will introduce a new character, featuring a story titled: "Sedition By Numbers" Next up, more info on another GI Joe Cobra Special, Croc Master, and upcoming introduction to Storm Shadow: In the last week of September, IDW will publish "G.I.Joe Cobra Special" by Mike Costa and Antonio Fuso that will feature fan favorite character Erika Le Tene in "The Trial Of Erika Le Tene." The story will pick up where the events in IDW's "G.I.Joe: Cobra" left off while "G.I.Joe: Cobra" Issues #10 through #13 by Christos Gage, Mike Costa and Antonio Fuso finishes the Cobra Commander & Chuckles trilogy. The subsequent storyline of the series will feature the origin of the Croc-Master. Schmidt joked that the storyline in issue #23 through #27 of the ongoing "G.I.Joe" series by Chuck Dixon and Robert Atkins would be entitled "Critical Mass…or Mass Destruction" and noted that the storyline not only concluded "Season One" of "G.I.Joe" but also introduced Storm Shadow to current Joe continuity. Look for all of these aforementioned GI Joe comics in fall! |

The Cobra Commander figure from the GI Joe Rise Of Cobra line did not receive the warmest reception, and coming soon to store shelves(some of you have found wave 1 already, but it isn't a widespread release, yet) is a different version with different accessories and a new head sculpt. Could the Chase Cobra Commander from GI Joe Pursuit Of Cobra Wave 1 achieve more success? Aside the fact that it is a chase figure, is it worth picking it up? Tfstarwar2009 has posted a new image of mystery GI Joe pilot, perhaps meant for an upcoming GI Joe line, or even the Jurassic Park line. Though the figure uses Airborne's body with Scrap Iron's vest, the head sculpt may be new. Why Jurassic Park? Back in May, we showed you a previously unseen helicopter(with pilot) for the Jurassic Park line, exclusive to Toys R Us. While perusing that post, it was noted that the figure shown today is an exact match to the one shown in May. The only difference being that the previous one looked like a mockup, whereas the "new" one is molded in colors that may represent the final production figure(before deco is added of course). Since technically this figure does have GI Joe parts, could it be released in both GI Joe and Jurassic Park lines? The colors shown resemble Tiger Force Wild Bill from the Target exclusive Tiger Rat set. Could this be yet another version of Wild Bill, or someone new altogether(or a new version of another known GI Joe pilot)? |

Chinafigures has posted an auction for a Volcano Viper repaint. Originally released as part of the GI Joe Rise Of Cobra line, the Volcano Viper was included in the Lava Pod, a repaint of the Mole Pod. The 3rd wave of alpha vehicles in the Rise Of Cobra line(which the Lava Pod With Volcano Viper was released in) was released overseas and in Canada. There were literally a handful of reported sightings in the US. Amongst collectors, one of the biggest draws of this wave was the Volcano Viper. So perhaps this repaint is another way for collectors to get their hands on a Volcano Viper. Could it be packed with a different vehicle this time around, or perhaps solo, in an exclusive wave? Or could GI Joe Pursuit Of Cobra be extended, and include this figure and other hard to obtain figures? In any case, this figure is pretty far along, being fully painted with printed markings already. Perhaps we shall see it at retail early next year, or maybe even earlier. |
