I've read this forum a couple of times and have thought about who'd I wanna see portray good ole Cap
I'm gonna have to go with new blood. I think an unknown actor would be the best option. It's the whole Tom Hanks/Da Vinci code thing. Find an actor who IS cap. Not somebody who can ACT like him. We got lucky that Robert Downey Jr can really portray Stark very well. Also remember that RDJ and Cap will have to interact together for The Avengers movie (and possibly a Civil War movie, because why not? All this setup to make only one gigantic movie? whats one more ha) Also who do you think will placy Bucky? With our luck it will be Shia Lebeif Big name or not, he had the look, he's had the money, he's had the fall from grace. No other actor could be stark. Which thank god for that realization cause at one time they were talking Tom cruise *shudder*. Also kudos to them for replacing war machine. Most of the casting choices have been getting better over the years though. From the X-Men movies, to spiderman, to the new Avengers line of movies including hulk. So I'm not too worried about the big name issue. The casting directors know what they are doing. Marvel casting especially has been dead on perfect. Look at Ironman and the Norton Hulk for example. Even Thor is shaping up well. As found out with the first Ironman movie though, big names are an issue. They want high pay, generally aren't fans of the characters, and tend to act snobbish on the set. Leave the Divas for Marvel Divas. Just give us an actor who looks, and can sound the part. Preferably someone who's also a fan of the property, like Reynolds is for GL and Deadpool. (Speaking of which, Reynolds has been fitted for his GL costume, so apparently that movie will be first and in 3D.) Oh and more on Captain Awesome http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0574131/resumephotos Last edited by Snowflakian; 03-10-2010 at 12:24 PM.. |

Correction. RDJ is Stark.

Seems the other issue is it's a 9 picture deal with low paychecks. So most big name stars will balk at that.
Big name actors are only an issue if they don't look the part. Even X-Men casting wasn't bad... It was the piss poor rushed scripts that messed that up. Which at the time anyway though, the only real big names were halle berry, patrick stewart, and famke jansen. That movie gave Hugh jackman, and anna paquin their starts. (I won't bother defending X-Men 3 as it just blows anyway) Oh, and don't forget Rebecca Romijn. If Spielberg is involved, sure. But at that point, we'd have to hope they "kill off" Bucky early in the film.

Yeah, just fan art. But with Geoff Johns so closely tied to the movie, chances are the real costume will be pretty close to that.

Seriously, Ryan Reyonalds, Chris Evans and Mickey Rourke can't play every superhero.

Rourke I don't remember who all he's played. But the amalgamation of Crimson Dynamo and whiplash is a badass idea. As for Reynolds... Hopefully Hannibal King, Wade Wilson and Hal Jordan will be the only three hero roles he gets. Hal Jordan was a surprise, but since Jordan is rather anti-authority, ladies man, and test pilot, he kinda fits with the other two roles at least. Reynolds was perfect for Hannibal King and Wade wilson though. Anything past those will just be too much. I still say Cap should be played by Captain Awesome. Heck he's actually a certified personal trainer even. Last edited by Snowflakian; 03-10-2010 at 03:13 PM.. |

From my point of view, I'm not going to get into which actor would be best game. I didn't think Ledger would be a good Joker at all and I was completely wrong. I like Krasinski, but not for this role. He should concentrate more on trying to make The Office stop at sucking lately. I'm going to wait it out and see who it actually ends up being and hope that the movie will be good.

Rourke was Marv and will play Dardevils father in the reboot from what I hear. I also hate the reboot idea. Stupid sony killing Spider-Man! Reyonalds as jordan was a suprise for me as well. I thought he kinda dissed DC to play Deadpool. He was actually in the works of being the Flash but backed out to play Hanibal King so he could get his foot in the door with Marvel. He has wanted to play Deadpool for a long time now. As for the amalgamation of Crimson Dynamo and Whiplash I don't believe that's entirely correct. Whiplash will be the son of Crimson Dynamo in IronMan 2. They are just taking a D-List villian and giving him a lil more depth.
P.S. Eric Bana was a way better Bruce Banner than Norton.

He would have been even better if he didn't have to deal with Ang Lee's overrought psychoanalysis of Stan Lee's rendition of Jekyl and Hyde.
I preferred Norton mostly because we didn't have to deal with Banner's childhood and spell out why he's got so much rage built up. Plus, the whole Bruce's-dad-is-Absorbing-Man crap. Yikes. o.O

Well, supposedly its down to three... again. The latest reports are that the three actors who are seriously being considered for the role of Captain America are Channing Tatum, Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan.
There is even word that Chris Evans has been offered the role. Honestly not too crazy about any of these choices, but if I absolutely had to choose one it would be Evans. |

Channing Tatum is a horrible actor. Lets hope he isn't it. Though from what I've reading online, the role is Evans.

I love Evans for it, and personally don't mind Tatum. I don't know the other guy at all.

Chris Evans is a badass and even though he has a younger face than I'd like for Cap, I would totally get behind that.

Very nice! Even has the right shield. Let's hope the real promo art will be half as good (and the movie itself twice as good).
