Grand Slam makes his debut in the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra line paired with the Air Assault Glider, a retooled Spytroops vehicle! This figure is a Target exclusive, and was released recently.
With a significantly different take on the character than the 25th Anniversary version which came with the Night Spectre, the return of a classic weapon, and popular vehicle, this figure offers more than one might think at first glance. Flash from the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toyline has been reviewed. Flash makes his debut in the movie-verse with the upcoming video game. The popular laser trooper hasn't been seen in many incarnations of G.I. Joe, but is a popular character and the movie line shows a fresh new take on his design.

IESB spoke with Stephen Sommers, director of G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra, recently and Sommers revealed interesting information about the upcoming movie. He revealed some of his inspirations for the movie:
IESB: You didn't only direct G.I. Joe, you were also involved in the story process, point blank, I read the Skip Woods draft, which I liked, at first I thought, "Wow, that's really good," 'cause as an adult it felt very Jason Bourne-like. SS: Yeah, and that's the problem I thought, I read two scripts and to me they were kind of generic, especially the action sequences, every action sequence I had seen before in some other movie. I love the Bourne franchise and I love James Bond, but right now, it's kind of Bourne is Bond and Bond is Bourne, they are trying to fight against each other and when I was a kid, the Sean Connery James Bond's were very different and that's the one I fell in love with and that's kind of the direction that I went. IESB: You did have the underwater submarine base in there, it did have it's James Bond elements. SS: And I wanted to make sure every action sequence - in those earlier scripts the action sequences were not only generic but just very, I mean, they were action sequences you would see in a contemporary Bourne or Bond film. Larry Hama created this fantastic world with these fantastic characters so every one of our action sequences has to be a sequence that couldn't be in any other action movie, it wouldn't fit. You would never see an accelerator suit chase through Paris, it wouldn't fit in any other movie. He also finally revealed who Brendan Frasier will be playing, and it isn't Gung-Ho, but another character who fans have been speculating about all along: IESB: It will, the universe has been established and you don't have to do too much of the origins anymore of who's who you can just go right at it. Now, we all knew Brendan Frasier had a cameo and I tried to catch the name, who is he playing? SS: It's Sergeant Stone. There's a half a dozen actors in the film that I've worked with before, at least 4 or 5 from the Mummy movies, I like to work with nice people. I don't work with assholes. They are all nice, there are a lot of other actors I'd like to bring in, there are a lot more G.I. Joe characters to go! With SGT. Stone's actor revealed, Sommers went on to talk about the iconic ninjas, Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow: IESB: There was a reason he had a vow of silence and that resolved itself in the story. SS: No, no, no, you know, in the mythology Storm Shadow didn't kill the Master. IESB: That's right. SS: Ah-ha! See, I won't give it away but, right now the movie appears to wrap up, their relationship appears to wrap up but there's something missing that most of the audience doesn't know yet. |

G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra opens this week, and in anticipation of the premiere, Stephen Sommers' site has been updated with concept art! Today, concept art for the mask of Destro was posted:
Illustrator Matt Codd was provided with references from G.I. Joe comics, action figures and episodes of the animated series in order to ensure that careful attention was paid to maintaining the character’s unique and iconic look – all while making him appear as realistic as possible. Also shown were images of various pulse weapons used by Viper Commandos, Neo-Vipers, and Elite Vipers: Capable of crushing metal and punching straight through armor plating, these next-generation weapons give their bearers a distinct advantage over bullets…missiles…pretty much anything you can throw at them, actually. Just a quick update from tonight's G.I. Joe Movie Hasbro Premiere Party. We now have our images up from the event, that showcase just how far Hasbro went to make this a memorable night. Not only was Director Stephen Sommers in attendance but so was the lovely Rachel Nichols AKA Scarlett, Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner. It was a class act, that 100% benefited Hasbro Children's Hospital and Bradley Hospital.
Review of the G.I. Joe Film soon enjoy the Images |

HissTank.com was at the Rhode Island premiere of G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra tonight, presented by Hasbro on behalf of the Hasbro Children's and Bradley Children's Hospitals. On hand were Stephen Sommers, Rachel Nichols, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Brian Goldner, and several of the Hasbro staff. The movie was presented after a meet and greet with food, beer and tons of GI Joe propaganda (see the previous post's pics).
Check out our initial thoughts on the movie by reading our thread here: HissTank.com Review of the GI Joe Movie (Seen it!). Feel free to ask questions and we will try to answer them as we can. G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra opens this weekend nationwide, make sure to hit the theaters and represent. Yo Joe! |

The menacing Crimson Neo-Viper from the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toyline has been reviewed! Just as the Elite Vipers guard Destro, the Crimson Neo-Vipers guard all Cobra leaders.
This figure features new weapons and accessories, and a striking crimson appearance. It actually shares none of the weapons that the regular Neo-Viper has. How did it turn out? Click on the discuss button to find out! |

The Elite Viper from G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra has been reviewed. Elite Vipers serve a function similar to the Iron Grenadiers, they are personal bodyguards for Destro.
With places to attach his weapons on his backpack(the axe can be stored, and the sub machine guns can be stores on the back of the pack), and a pistol with holster, this Viper is ready to cut his way into any G.I. Joe stronghold, and fire away! Is it a worthy movie Viper to add to your collection? Hit the discuss button to find out! |

Buying the PIT isn't the only way to obtain a General Hawk figure, as Hasbro has also made a single carded Hawk figure in the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra toyline. The Attack on The G.I. Joe PIT version of Hawk comes with no jacket, but instead comes with a redecoed Resolute jetpack, M.A.R.S. nanomite briefcase, and weapons.
With all of the significant differences mentioned above, is this figure worth getting? Hit the discuss button to find out! |
