Yeah, the Alto I think I can live without armor, since I'll be displaying the Michel and Luca jets with armor all the time, I need at least ONE to display naked. Considering how often Alto jettisons his armor, it may as well be him .
Ozma I'm holding off on, because he needs Super Armor. It's not even a question. |

Thanks for all the photos, Shin! My desire for this thing is a little too intense right now. I'm worried I wont be able to wait for BBTS to get theirs in stock and will be prowling Ebay looking for one at a good price. Hope to read some comments/reviews soon...

From what I've read the toy feels more like the MP Starscream toys than the Binaltech toys. The metal is in the right areas, and the only nitpick that I read is that the legs may not be able to move all the way back due to blockage, then again the VF-0 and VF-1 share this trait since the wings hinder leg movement to the back.
I'm not sweating anything yet though. Well, a little sweat from how hot this thing looks, but no nervous sweat. I like the metal I see in the thrusters. I wonder what kind of metal Bandai went with on this thing. I know 'diecast' is the word that's thrown around, but from what I've seen on the shoulder joints and thrusters it almost looks more like steel or titanium. Hmm..that's interesting. I don't know if I want it to feel like either of those toys, especially the MP Starscream which I'm not a huge fan of. It's a fine toy, but not one that stands out as a particularly excellent piece.

Now what I anticipate most is the day we find out whether or not the armor will be available in mass market later on. Come on super armor! We need heavy armor for Ozma too...I mean yeah sure Alto uses heavy armor also, but not till near the end of the series(and of course in the "Lion intro/OP2").

New Review(CLICK HERE)!
I read the review and it seems like the reviewer is content with the toy. He mentioned that the toy in battroid mode is able to do the salute pose from the end of Macross F. He compared the model kit and DX toy, and he mentioned how the DX costs much more than the toy. I am still trying to determine what he was referring to with the neck piece, but from what I gather, it sounds like it might be loose/not very secure, which explains why we see Ozma without an exposed neck a lot. The toy is weighty and locks together well otherwise. The pics in the review are good, I wish the landing gear was more detailed, and the nosegear a little bit taller, also I wish the nose did not droop as much. To be honest out of the 3 VF-25 items(DX, VF100s, model kit), the VF100s version gets the landing gear right in my eyes. The gear on the DX are too short and not detailed enough(though I like the look of bare, shiny diecast, reminds me of 80's DX diecast robot toys!), and on the model kit, the gear are too long and remind me of mosquito legs. The VF100s? Just right! Man the DX 25 is tempting....the entire thing might even lack stickers....everything might be PAINTED! Less than a week after first out of box images showed up, and still no breakages! Sure some can say, "it's only been a few days", but I have not read anything that even mentions potential breakages(just read to take care when moving transforming the head as the head lasers are made of a softer plastic). If this toy ends up more durable than the 1/55, or very close to it, we are in for a treat! Last edited by Shin Densetsu; 12-25-2008 at 10:58 PM.. |

Thanks to wj19739, we can now see the VF-25F posed and the extent of it's poseability.

Toy VS Model Review, click here!
To sum up what I was able to read, basically the model is much sleeker, and of course, anime accurate. The designers and Kawamori went for a different approach for the DX toy, going for a more balanced approach in battroid mode, utilizing hip placement higher up than the model, and this is even seen on the upcoming VF100s toy. The wings have detents to hold wing sweep position, and the reviewer liked it. This review, like many others posted on the net recently, mentions how high the durability on this toy is. The negative aspects are that the gun is made out of soft plastic, and underdetailed landing gear, that make it obvious that this is a toy. Ultimately the review mentions different directions for the model and toy for different people. If you want anime accuracy and something more for display, get the model. If you want something that can be played with and of high durability/sturdiness, get the DX. DX it is for me! Just announce if you are going to mass market the armor eventually Tamashii!!!!!!!!! Durability in a Macross toy is like a foreign concept to me- I'm definitely holding onto my preorders for Michel's and Luca's 25s if I can still afford them come March. :O
