The ongoing work of the Federal Communications Commission - involved in producing a report on all kinds of technical gizmos to help feature media content - has somehow gotten itself caught up in the Transformers Live Action Movie franchise. The group, Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, has complained to the FCC about the amount of advertising for Revenge of the Fallen and its associated toy line aimed at the young ones - especially because in their mind the films are content that would have got a higher rating than PG-13 years ago. Of course, the group has issue with most forms of advertising directed at children in general, so please do not take their comments too personally!

Unfortunately, even though Transformers is currently the top selling boy's toy line in the UK, it does not mean the line is not subject to weird delays and cancellations. We have received word from Red Leader of site sponsor Kapow Toys that the fourth wave of Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe toys (including the Ice Cream Truck Twins Skids & Mudflap, Dead End, Jolt and Blaze Master) and the Wave 5 Voyagers (Long Haul and Grindor) have been respectively delayed for a release in the UK, and in the case of the Voyager wave, outright canceled. The reason given for the delay in the release of the wave 4 Deluxes is that there is an increased demand for the assortment in the US, which has taken up the stock originally allocated for the UK market (although there is a chance they might still become available later - they are only delayed, not canceled for a UK release, yet). No reason is given for the apparent cancellation of the fifth wave of Voyagers.
However the news is not all bleak for UK fans - the fifth wave of Deluxes, including Arcee, Stalker Scorponok and Swerve, has begun to creep into stores. This ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy release report is brought to you by TFW2005 member tikgnat. |

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen continues to reap great profits for Hasbro! Today Transformers @ The Moon have received the latest information for UK toy sales in July, indicating that Transformers Revenge of the Fallen took the top spot to become the UK's number 1 selling toy line during this time, with the Deluxe pricepoint taking the number 2 slot on the items sold by value chart, and the Legends pricepoint occupying the number 3 slot! This is on the back of earlier reports suggesting that in the UK throughout July Transformers made up 33% of Action Figure sales - that means of all the action figures from every line sold in the UK, one in three of them was a Transformers toy!

Toy-World and the Cybergundam Blog have posted images of the Japan Chara Hobby Toy Fair. This is the same fair in which the special edition Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave toy will be shown. Unfortunately their are still no live images of Soundwave, but Toy-World does bring us Disney Label Donald Duck, Encore Bruticus, Device Label, and Halloween Disney Label Mickey Mouse.
Especially interesting are the figures next to Encore Bruticus. Pictured we see the original G1 Constructicons, but also some prototypes and unreleased figures. The toy fair started today and will end tomorrow. Click on the title for all images. |

Takara-Tomy recently published an interview with Transformers team designer Hisashi Yuki on their website. Mr Yuki is the designer of such Transformers toys as Lio Convoy, Big Convoy, Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, and more recently in the Revenge of the Fallen toyline, Sideways, Scalpel and The Fallen himself. He was also the designer of the ill-fated, unreleased Beast Wars Neo Unicron.
Thanks to the hard work of 2005 Staff member SydneyY, we are able to offer a translation of this interview here for non-Japanese speaking fans to enjoy. You can read the interview by clicking here, or by clicking the discuss button below this post. |
