Next up is Draias. He appears on episode 20 to kick the Galactic police's asses. He promptly retreats on episode 21 after the new toy Guard Wing shows up to kick his, then kicks Guard Wing's on the following episodes but then does not reappear until the next time they need to sell a new toy lol.
He is composed of three animals. The first is Death Eagle. Its composed of all the leftover pieces for the Draias mode. Looks ok but the talons could have been improved. Nexst is Death Dragon. It has minimal articulation (arms and legs). Last is Death Tiger. The orange is pretty ugly and makes this toy a bit too bright for an evil character. They can form together in a jet mode. Its like a inbetween mode for the combined robot. Not as sleek as I wouldve liked. Fire Jet and Draias Jet. "Sanju Gattai! Draias!" (Three Beast Union! Draias!) The combined mode does look nice. He has only elbow, hip and head articulation. He's very small. Not like how he is in the show at all. Death Dragon's wings become its Death Shield but his Death sword is not present in any other mode. Draias and Fighbird... How did Fighbird have ANY trouble with this guy? "I am ruler of the galaxy! I cant be... beaten...?"

"Fire Jet!"
"Saikyou Gattai! Great Fighbird!" (Strongest Union! Great Fighbird!) Wow. He's tall. Only one that can match up to his height is Super Fire Dagwon (of the ones I have). He has hip and elbow articulation. As is the norm with these guys apparently. Truthfully, he looks like he could be one of the most powerful braves. His hip blasters can fold down though his leg blasters are no longer accessable. Flame Breaster, Breaster Jet and the two halves of the Gran Cannon form the two most ingenuitive weapons in Brave. EVER. "Flame Sword!" His Flame sword gets a HUGE upgrade (albeit the blade is the same size but he now uses the whole of the Flame Breaster as a hilt (In the show the hilt is significant smaller the sword is handled like Great Exkaiser's sword with the same stance before his hissatsu ). The Breaster Jet becomes the Flame Shield. It is not featured on the show wierdly enough. I'd have thought his sword and shield combo would be perfect to face off against Draias' sword and shield. *shrug* Great Fighbird towers over Super Guardion. Not so Super now eh? He towers over Draias even more than Super Guardion... Dude thats overkill! As a whole I like the Granbird set. Not original but theres some charm in the design I really like. Its also a superior toy compared to the original Great Exkaiser in every way. Bravo Takara. As for Draias. Its so and so. Not one of my favs but I dont regret buying it. One thing I noticed is that the Korean versions dont paint the blacks around the eyes leaving it silver. Strange.

Bought this Nekketsu Saikyou (Hot Blooded Strongest) Gosaurer set from Mark_H earlier this week. Its the Tomy reissue so it has no chrome. Also theres some wear on some parts but it came completely unstickered.
First up. Mach Ptera. It has some leg articulation and nick articulation because of its transformation. The wings tend to swing around which affects all modes. Next is Thunder Brachio. Not much to say. It has like no articulation apart from the head (looks up and down from the point which the head meets the neck. It can also articulate its cannons on the back. Land Stego. It has some leg articulation and tail articulation. Theres also two cannons on its tail which can move up and down. The translucent plates on its back are really nice. But they like to detach somewhat. All three together. They can combine into the Saurer Jet. Its a bit unstable because of how Land Stego connects to Mach Ptera. Thunder Brachio's head/neck is disregarded in this mode. "Gosaurer! Nekketsu Gattai!" (Gosaurer! Hot Blooded Union!) Gosaurer makes a rather small robot for a combiner. Only the wings give it mass. The head is sculpted like its about to cry :lol. As you can see the 'crystal' on its chest has paint wear. It has shoulder articulation and elbow (inwards so its kinda useless). The legs can split apart and it has knees for some reason. Maybe for the 'Cho Nekketsu Gattai'? Its main weapon is the Saurer Blade. And Land Stego's back turns into the Saurer Shield. Pretty neat set but not quite as good without Magna Saurer and Gran Saurer. Must track them down now .

Just to keep this thread alive due to the absence of Roanstalker (where are you bro?).
This is Volfogg, the GGG Intelligence Division Super-AI robot. He can combine with the non-AI vehicle robots GunDober and GunGlue to become Big Volfogg, a much stronger and better-defended combat model with long-range attacks. Each of the figs on their own are a little underwhelming but as a whole they're a quite a fun set to play around with & transforming back & forth. First up is the ninja-bot himself, Volfogg. Vehicle mode. Robot mode. this is probably the weakest & lamest design amongst the GGG robots. he's almost like a large scale TF legends fig. a pity since he's one of the coolest characters in GGG. very blocky & chunky too. (he looks fat lol ) Next the GunMachines, the motorbike Gundober. Vehicle mode In it's other form as a hovercraft? type mode. Robot mode. Despite the less than "happening" robot mode, the vehicle mode makes up for it. it's quite show-accurate looking & I prefer the vehicle mode of it. The other Gunmachine, mini helicopter Gunglue Vehicle mode Robot mode. same opinions as above. so-so robot mode but vehicle mode is kinda ok. & Finally Big Volfogg! for whatever misgivings that i mentioned earlier, their fully combined form is totally worth it. i'm quite suprised that it's as tall as a TF movie leader class figure. Another reason why i like abt Brave robots in general (especially from the GGG series) even without the instruction sheet, i have no fear in trying to transform them. everything is rather intuitive (more or less). Big Volfogg Oh yes i forgot to mention there's even lights & sound effects. this is a rather cool feature of the toy. if you lift-up either the right or left arms slightly, it'll make a different sound for each arms (just like in the Anime whenever Big Volfogg does one of his special attacks). Volfogg clip on youtube: Big Volfogg

Another Brave from the GGG series, Mic Sounders the 13th:
Mic Sounders the 13th is one of the support mechs in the eighth Brave series, Gaogaigar. he typically appears as a small red and blue robot riding around in an almost cartoonish yellow flying vehicle (Baribarien). however, he can perform ''SYSTEM CHANGE'' and take on his full form: a tall, blue and red guitar playing mecha . the yellow flying vehicle he rides in transforms into a mobile stage (Studio 7), produces various gear for him including a flying V keytar (GiraGiran VV) and a series of microphones (DokaDokan V). Despite the simplicity & cuteness of the toy. it's really full of awesomeness. even tho he's not a combiner, he's one of the coolest GGG toys. there's even a primitive drum-machine included inside his flying saucer (requires two "AA" size batteries). Karaoke champion Guitar hero DISK X - SET ON!! Mic Sounders clip on youtube: Some pixs of my current GGG toys. only a few more figs to go & my GGG series is complete :P In their basic mode. In their fully combined form (with the exception of Mic Sounders)

Ok more Brave stuffs! Brave Police J-Decker was the fifth instalment of the anime Brave series (Yusha) that was aired in Japan during 1994. Brave Police J-Decker returns the series to a subtly lighter tone, student Yuuta Tominaga stumbles upon Deckerd, a humanoid Police robot under construction by the Japanese police, built to fight advanced forms of crime. Yuuta's constant contact with Deckerd gives the robot a "heart" or personality. Yuuta is finally recruited as the "boss" of the "Brave Police" as a result, a true human/robot partnership occurs. The box cover. this is the original Takara version. Deckerd in police vehicle alternate mode Deckerd in robot mode J-Roader: A massive SWAT truck/carrier. It has a garage located in the rear in which to transport Deckerd in car mode. J-Roader is the companion support vehicle for Deckerd. Deckerd w/J-Roader When the going gets tough & the criminals are too hard to handle. Deckerd forms a combination with J-Roader to become J-Decker!!!! J-Decker: Super robot combination of Deckerd with his support vehicle. This is the series primary super robot. Edit: Oops I forgot to add both the toys (police car & SWAT truck/carrier) have lights & sounds effects to simulate police sirens. require batteries & it's very loud man lol  Brave Police opening clip: Brave Police J-Decker combination clip: Btw I'll post pixs of his combining partner, the fire engine & ambulance combo Dukefire real soon.

Do yourself a favour and check out Gaogaigar FINAL when you get done watching the main series - FINAL is incredibly awesome as a standalone piece, but if you have watched the series, there are some excellent Brave moments that you can truly appreciate. Trust me on that one. |

Ok I got The package in earlier than expected so I will review the Ryu Brothers from Gaogaigar.
Initially only two Ryus were created. Enryu (Fire Dragon) and Hyoryu (Ice Dragon). Their main function is to rescue and protect civilians. Their AIs were trained from the ground up (no 'programmed' AI like the ones from Might Gaine). They had trouble changing into their robot modes at first, but after clearing that obstacle they had another in that they sympa rates were not at 100%. Enryu and Hyoryu in their vehicle modes. They are nearly exactly the same. Only the attachment on their rear is different. Enryu's is a ladder/gun and Hyoryu's is a crane/gun. They can both be extended. "System Change!" They are one of the most articulate Brave toys released. Though thats not saying much. They have 15 articulation. Their legs are hampered by thow they are joints to his waist and also the lack over swivel. This allows a few cool poses but not as much as you'd think. Their chest and antennas are reversed which is a neat touch. Anime reference! Enryu comes with a shield and his melting gun (which stores in the back of his right leg). Hyoryu only comes with his freezing gun. The SRW games (not sure about the anime) gives them their Crane tonfas and Ladder tonfas. They were not meant to be used in this form so its not a very good fit. "Freezing Rifle!" "Melting Rifle!" Again the Freezing Rifle was NOT meant to be used this way. Just something from the anime. Their chest dials can be moved to change the colours of their chest lights. These are used in the anime to open their chest doors for their 'Chest Warmer' and 'Chest Freezer' attacks. Sadly this feature didnt make it into the toy (For a very good reason). Once they Sympa rate finally reaches 100% Symmetrical Docking is activated! Enryu and Hyoryu combine into the super robot Choryujin (Super Dragon God)! In this form he is essentially a brick. He has only elbow and head articulation. Thats fine though because he looks great. Much better than Ultra Raker. They can flip they crane/ladder for the Double gun attack. They can also be used as the Double Tonfas.

Latter on the chinese Ryus are introduced. They are Fuuryu (Wind Dragon) and Rairyu (Thunder Dragon). They were made to assist the military so their attacking capabilities are higher than Enryu and Hyoryu's. At first they believe that protecting their country is top priority and protecting civilians is a very low priority but once Enryu and Hyoryu knock some sense into them they are able to perform Symmetrical Docking as well.
The Chinese Ryus use the sam,e basic vehicle mode but different attachments. Fuuryu is a cement mixer truck and and Rairyu is a dump truck. All Ryus in vehicle mode. Anime reference 2. It is interesting to note that Rairyu and Fuuryu's face has extra sculpting as oppsed to Enryu and Hyoryu's 'clean' faces. Rairyu can use the skip as a hover craft. Why? No idea. Like Their sempais they can also change their chest colour. These are slightly different in the show because they each have four attacks activated by setting the level but the toy can not do this. Fuuryu's Feng Dao Dan (Wind Torpedoe) and Rairyu's oddly shaped gun (Yeh its a gun. SRW says so). All Ryus together in robot mode. Once Fuuryu and Rairyu combines they form Gekiryujin (Impact Dragon God). A brick like Choryujin. But the Skip hampers that arm's movement. Choryujin and Gekiryujin. When Choryujin recieves 'ZA POWAA!', Enryu and Hyoryu are forced to split up to help the defenseless Rairyu and Fuuryu. They succeed in reaching 200% Sympa rate and fuse into new warriors Genryujin (Illusion Dragon God) and Goryujin (Strong Dragon God)! Their finishing attacks are Thunder Blizzard and Burning Hurricane Goryujin and mini me (KO). The Ryus are really cool. Very articulated for braves and the interaction between new and old is very good. Highly recommended.

Great review, Roan! I love the Ryu brothers, they're probably my favorite of GGG. Too bad I don't own any of them, since I'm such a sucker for combining robots. How much did the set of four run you?
Love this pic!

It was actually bought in Hong Kong. A store that specialises in old vintage toys. Surprised they had had any Braves at all. They had Shadow Dagwon, Goid Max, Super Guardion, Super Fire Dagwon, GGG and Goldymarg. There other store also had Super Build Tiger, Dag Base and Fire Dagwon. Very cool. Their site also listed Volfogg but they didnt have it in store.

Hey Roanstalker thanks for all the info it helped a lot. Huge fun of Yuusha and I've starting collecting the toys. I had a question since you know so much about this stuff.
Do you know where can I find a Dragon Kaizer or a Fire Dagwon? Toy Arena doesen't have them and I tried the Japan auctions but I don't know how that works I don't understand anything. Thanks |

Are you looking for the old DX Dragon Kaiser or the Masterpiece Dragon Kaiser? The old DX Dragon Kaiser was never made available in Korea so Tiy arena wouldnt help.
Since both are unavailable on ebay you'll have to go to yahoo auctions. But first you need a proxy service like celga. Once you find a auction you want (use rinkya to search) give the adress to celga and your maximum bid (or the Buy it now price). Remember that depending on the final price of the auction you will have to pay celga for their services ANd for the item to be delivered to their warehouse before delivery to your home adress. Pretty hefty price. Especially in this economy. Check their website at celga.com for more information.

Wow thank you that was great I didn't know things like that existed.
I guess that would be the Masterpiece cause the other one Toy Arena is selling is the Masterpiece exkizer. |

Not sure. Dont have him. I'd assume its shoulder (forwards and sideways), elbows (forward), the hips and waist. Not sure about the knees.

I've been putting off reviewing Super Build Tiger for a while now. I guess now is the time to do it.
The Build team are created after the apparent success of Deckard. At first they do not feature self thought and emotions. Chief Saejima was contemplating whether to install Deckard's emotion systems in them but this was met by opposition. After they were taken over by Gaizonite (alien that takes control of non-living machinery) leaving Deckard the only one not affected, Saejima decides to install emotions into them. This is the Hong Kong/Korean version. The box has the chinese name for Super Build Tiger plastered over the japanese name (The name roughly translates to Construction Super Brave). First up is Combat Detective McCrane. I consider him the 'leader' of the Build Team. He is cool headed and nearly always patient. He has an eye for detail that the other members dont have. He has some memorable arcs (I'm up to episode 30 so far) one involving Inty, a diety that controls people's inner desires. After finding that he had these evil desire he locks himself up refusing to boot up again. Only after his plug is nearly pulled does he start up again realising that these desires help humans want to live. He becomes slightly infatuated with a military woman Seia. According to Wiki he is named after John McCrane from Die Hard . His vehicle mode is a Crane truck. The black panel is pretty out of place (even if they tried to disguise it as the front windshield/grill). Also the hands do not retract so they are just sticking out from the rear. The back section can swivel left and right and the cran can lift up or extend. You can detach his hook and attach a extended hook instead. His robot mode is a bit... wierd? His arm is one long piece. No detailing whatsoever. They are also not jointed to the shoulders but his chest??? His head also likes to slide down on mine... His weapon is a shotgun.... That does not do spread rounds in the show. Next up is Kong-Fu Detective Power Joe. He's kind of a jokester at the beginning. He is not very serious at all. He befriends Yuuta's friends early on. His vehicle mode is a 'Power Shovel'. His arms are in plain view. Other that its ok. Not bad. The top part can move and the shovel has three points of articulation. Power Joe's robot mode is more asthetically pleasing than McCrane's. He has simple shoulder articulation. He comes with revolver (all the Brave police do apart from Mc Crane and I think Gun Max) Power Joe also uses Nun-Chucks as weapons. Or... Tonfa. Wrestler Detective Dumpson is the last member of the initial Build Team. He looks like a brute and kind of comes across that way in the beginning. He initially comes into conflict with the writer Ayako (for crossing a flashing green light :lol) but warms up to her. He later performs as Kamen Yuusha (Masked Brave) in a illegal wresting tournament. His vehiclr mode is a dump truck. His robot arms are in plain sight on the back of the dump (along with Build Tiger's feet). The dump can be lowered. Dumpson's robot mode looks pretty close to his on screen counterpart. He has two points of articulation (shoulders). Along with the revolver he also comes with his dumbell. Later on Soccer Detective Drill Boy is created. He has a new alloy metal used in his drill (so its near indestructible). He is very naive and likes to play around. He was initially very arrogant and thought the other members of the Brave police were very weak. He apoligizes later on when he sees Yuuta becoming friends with the bug people despite not being able to communicate with eachother. It seems his hidden desire is to play football with the other Brave police members (released by Inty's desire beam). Drill Boy's vehicles is (what else?) a drill tank. Its very cool looking IMO. It also has a flight mode. True to his title, he comes with some footballs. One for shooting the other is just there. Take note that this release removes all the spikes from the launchable football (despite them being on the box?!?!) Drill Boy's robot mode is a little on the fat side but thats because of its neccessity to combine with Build Tiger and transform into the Drill Tank. He has 6 articulation (two on each shoulder and elbows)! His head is the most inaccurate (where's the side drills???). With his football.

All Build Team gathered.
The initial team can combine into the Gimlet mode. Yeh its just them mashed up against each other. This is the Super Gimlet (after Drill Boy is added). This is only used once in the anime. "Brave Up! Build Tiger!" It is revealed in episode 7 that the Build team were created to combine together. But the first two attempts fail badly. They realise that to worry about protecting the world is too much pressure on their shoulders and they decide to think of the ones they most want to protect (while a huge space tower is about to wreak havoc on the world as it crashes down into the sea!). They reach a state of absolute calmness and finally combine into Build Tiger and quickly and precisely eliminates all the brokenm off pieces of the tower with his Riot Gun. Build Tiger looks like the robot equivalent of a muscle man. His huge shoulders Brings that out. His head scuplt is very nice. The sirens on the side are a nice touch. He features 'automorph' in which as you move his torso into position his head flips up. He has shoulder articulation, elbows and hands (they flip in wards towards the body). He is a VERY detailed bot. The detail from he individual forms all come into play here. Very very nice indeed. There ARE some kibble (power Joe and Dumpson's arms and McCrane's peek a boo head) but they are not too distracting. Aside from the Riot Cannon on his shoulder he also has a smaller gun made up of McCrane's shotgun and Dumpson's dumbells. "Brave Up! Super Build Tiger!" Once Drillboy joins the team the Build team try to combine but because of Drill Boy's conflicting personality with the other members the combination fails. Once they make up though Super Build Tiger is born. He has even more attacks then Build Tiger. Along with Riot Gun and Tiger Cannon he also has Tiger Beam, Drill Punch, Tiger Fang and Build Crasher. I must say. Super Build Tiger looks very impressive. The massive drill halves and the huge Tiger hyead look great on his chest. And the legs attachments make it them look even better. The artwork depicts the chest armour as 'body armour' like those the police wear. Very nice. He has the same articulation as Build Tiger but the wings kind of restrict his shoulders. If you watch episode 8 you will see that he can hide his crane and shovel parts. In episode 15 he initially has those parts but then when he starts fighting they MAGICALLY DISAPPEAR! Now the toy cant do this but they CAN be removed. This means he can move his shoulders much better. They come with badges (all Brave police toys do) but I didnt put the stickers on those so I'm not gonna show them (The stickers are really bad because of the age. Only Dumpson's actually stuck to him firmly... Well thats the Build Team. They are nice. The robot modes could use work but overall its a nice set.

Remember this Brave Police robot I posted a few posts back?
Deckerd in robot mode J-Roader: A massive SWAT truck/carrier. J-Decker: Super robot combination of Deckerd with his support vehicle. This is the series primary super robot. Well sometime ago I got another loose one from this same series. got it at a "good price" from bro Griffith76 of TFW2005 (thanks eric!). this is the secondary super robot in the Brave police series. It comprises of an ambulance & a fire engine. this robot appeared mid-way thru the series after the primary super robot J-decker was damaged in battle. then after J-decker was revived sometime later, the two of them were able to combine into their super robot mode. Here's the ambulance. he's called Duke. if you look closely at him there's kinda TF Ratchet homage going on there (somewhat). Robot mode Duke's suppport vehicle, a massive fire engine called Fire Roader Duke & Fire Roader After J-Decker was temporarily unavailable, Duke & Fire Roader took his place for awhile in combating crime as DUKE FIRE!!! Later on J-Decker was back online. the two of them joined forces to achieve union as FIRE J-DECKERRRRRR!!!! Duke Fire combination clip Fire J-decker combination clip

If you didnt know, The chief was going to call it Great J-Decker (as in the tradition up to that point) but thought it was too generic. Also the J in J-Decker stands for Justice.
And as I said before, I do NOT dig the 'battle apron' Fire J-Decker has going for it.
