I think it is a much closer relationship actually. For the Iron Man line, sure you have comic inspired repaints, and some new pieces like War Machine's cannons, but ultimately you have comic based repaints using movie based molds. With the Wolverine:Origins-comic subline, you have all new molds for comic-based appearances.

I'm confused as to why theres a diference in hip articulation style between these and the MU figures. Maybe these were initially designed at a different scale and then were shrunk?

Aside from Maverick and Deadpool, I'll probably be passing on most of these.

Yeah, since it's a limited line for the movie, they're more willing to throw ideas at the wall to see what sticks.

Here's a sneak peak at comic based figures of Blob and Sabretooth (Jim Lee Costume) from the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine "Comic Series" figure line. Props to Mr Fiend from Fwoosh for the pic.
I really like Blob. Though it doesn't look like he has much articulation. Of course, it's hard to articulate fat characters so I don't mind. Sabretooth looks great though. I'm glad they did the more well known costume for him, in addition to the modern costume we've already seen. |

The Blob looks like a pass but Sabretooth looks awesome.

I have a feeling that more articulation will be put into Blob, but if none is added, I won't be buying that.
Sabretooth however, HELL YEAH! That looks so much better than the ML version too(I didn't like the redundant foot/toe joint and the huge shoulders). This one is excellent, I dig the way the hair is sculpted too. |

Looks like ol' Blobbo-butt has body slam action given the limited articulation and the pre-pose of his hands. I can live with it, if that's the reason for the limited posability. 'Tooth looks great, as I always liked the Jim Lee design.
The package samples of Logan and tiger-stripe Wolvie look better as well.

One thing is really bugging me though.
The fact that they're "Comic Series" figures, but that Wolverine's claws are coming from between the fingers instead of from the back of the hand. It may make me pass on most of the Wolverine figures. Which is annoying. |

Faboo, I'm digging these figures. And I may have overlooked that long list of Wolverine figures but we need a House of M Wolverine. That Stormtrooper/honor guard outfit was pretty sharp.

Sweet, even though I feel like I already own them. I see they're still sticking the claws on Wolverine's hands
It's 2009 already, can't we get some pop out claws? It's not as fun when they're always out The Deadpool's cool, we can always use more of those figs. |
