Shout! Factory has announced a new GI Joe The Movie Trailer Contest! So what does this contest entail? Read on:
Shout! Factory is inviting all G.I. Joe fans to try their hand in making a trailer for this Blu-ray + DVD release. Here is how it works: 1. Entries accepted 5/26 – 8/16/10. One entry per person only. Submission should be made in the form of a low-resolution Quicktime (.mov) file. It should be uploaded to a file sharing service (YouSendIt, MediaShare, etc.) with the link emailed to [email protected]. If selected, we will request a high-resolution version. 2. Entries can only be received via email and must include entrant's name, email, phone # and address in the body of the email. 3. Open to contestants 18 years and older who reside in the U.S or Canada. 4. Grand prize is the bragging rights to being the creative mastermind behind the ‘Official GI Joe: The Movie on Blu-ray & DVD’ trailer. The winning trailer will be used online and on future Shout Factory DVD releases to promote the title in perpetuity. Winner understands this and must sign the appropriate release. 5. Three runners-up (and the grand prize winner) will receive one each of the complete G.I. Joe A Real American Hero series in the special edition Footlocker. 6. Winners will be notified by Aug. 31, 2010. Shout’s decision on winning entries is final. 7. Trailer length must not exceed 3 minutes. 8. Be smart… do not include copyrighted material that is not from this movie. Do not use music that you did not create. Anyone who appears on camera or who creates anything that appears on camera should be over 18 and if not, you are responsible for obtaining a release from the parent of any minor. 9. There are a few elements that should be included in your trailer: a. Box art in some form that is recognizable. b. Copy that the title is available as a DVD or as a BluRay + DVD combination. c. Special features include audio commentary with Buzz Dixon, public service announcements, an art gallery and a printable screenplay. d. Shout Factory logo and ShoutFactory.com URL. e. Hasbro copyright line: HASBRO and its logo, G.I. JOE and all related characters are trademarks of Hasbro and are used with permission. © 2010 Hasbro. All Rights Reserved. f. You may include your name and desired credit on the trailer. 10. Contestants realize that by submitting an official entry that they release Shout Factory, GI JOE, Hasbro and everyone else from responsibility for any damages, expenses, or harm they might incur while creating or submitting trailer. Best of luck! |

The "mine dropping" carriage was removed, and Scrap-Iron's launcher was shortened so that it could slide perfectly into the slot that was left over. The missile rack was also modified to hold the 2 bazooka trooper crew's bazookas (still removable.) I followed all that up by giving the tank a realistic and weathered paint job, and detailing out the crew's uniforms to fit the tank a little better." HISS Tank boards member Gyre-Viper has come through with several images of his recently acquired Resolute Alley Viper prototype! The Alley Viper from GI Joe Resolute is a departure from the traditional Alley Viper we are used to seeing. For the sake of comparison, the Pursuit of Cobra Alley Vipers(using the body of the Modern Era version) are shown in this batch of images.
Gyre-Viper has pointed out that the shoulder pads on his prototype will not stay on. Whether this will be fixed before final production is anyone's guess but keep your fingers crossed! The upcoming Pursuit of Cobra single carded Alley Viper shares the same head with this Resolute version, and comes with the swappable helmet and goggles too. Click on the title bar to see more! |

The Night Adder with attack dog was released as part of wave 4 in the GI Joe Rise of Cobra line. While it didn't make an appearance in the movie, like other off-screen characters, this figure was sought after, as well as it's blue tatoo variant.
Depending on where you are, this figure was easy to find at one point, but now, like other waves 4-5 figures, its harder to find compared to waves 1-3 figures like the Baroness & Neo Viper. If you are still on the fence about picking one up, click on the discuss button to read Steel Brigade's review of the Night Adder! |

The GI Joe Rise of Cobra line had some hits and misses, a lot of which could be seen with the alpha vehicle assortment(s). While the 1st wave took a while to take off of shelves, the 2nd wave gathered some steam, and the 3rd wave was highly anticipated.
So imagine the dismay when it was announced that the 3rd wave was canceled. Then it was said that the vehicles were merely delayed until early 2010. Then Hasbro said some trickled out into stores. The amount of members who have these wave 3 vehicles in hand is small. Will wave 3 make a wider release eventually? That's anyone's guess. One of the most anticipated items was the Mole Pod repaint, but not essentially for the vehicle. No, the excitement was primarily for it's driver, the Volcano Viper. Sure it uses a base from another figure but it has a slew of new parts! While the Lava Pod with Volcano Viper has yet to reach widespread distribution, click on the discuss button to read Steel Brigade's review of the Lava Viper! |

According to an article by The Herald News, GI Joe Renegades will premiere in Fall on The HUB. The Herald News spoke with Jeff Labovitz of Hasbro:
Larrry Hama, a legend in the G.I. Joe comic world, will pen a new comic book series for publisher IDW that will be launched this fall, and Labovitz said kids and fans will get to see a new G.I. Joe animated series this fall on the new HUB network. With Michael Bell auditioning for the role of General Hawk in the new series late last year, Eric Bauza auditioning for Tunnel Rat earlier this year, and recent trade mark applications it's safe to say that the series in question is GI Joe Renegades. We've heard about the fall premiere before, specifically 10/10/2010. Could GI Joe Renegades be on the way sooner than previously thought? Could more news on it await at JoeCon2010? |

Revealed at JoeCon2009, the Jungle Assault Storm Shadow has yet to be released. With plenty samples available since the end of last year, this figure was seemingly ready to go for sale at retail(albeit the packaging never showed up, just the artwork at JoeCon last year). Could Storm Shadow(Jungle Assault) be pushed back until spring 2011, like the Shadow Tracker and some other figures from the GI Joe Pursuit of Cobra line?
Jungle Assault Storm Shadow features a body made from parts of Resolute Storm Shadow and Arctic Assault Storm Shadow from the Rise of Cobra line. What we end up with is a Storm Shadow that definitely looks the part of a jungle commando, armed to the teeth to wreck havoc. Whether this figure will reach retail stores or not will be revealed soon at JoeCon, but until then, hit the discuss button to read the review! |
