According to HISS Tank boards member Gyre-Viper, fellow member MikeTime spotted a prototype of a new Low Light being worked on at during the convention today. Will this figure be seen later this year or in spring 2011? Stay tuned for more information! Which other fan-favorites will debut at JoeCon2010?

MTV Movies Blog caught up with Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently and interviewed him about GI Joe 2, the sequel to GI Joe Rise of Cobra from 2009. It turns out, the sequel may start shooting next spring for a release in summer 2012, also the GI Joe Real American Hero 30th Anniversary. Bonaventura hasn't said whether the cast from Rise of Cobra will return for the sequel:
MTV: So then you'd start shooting when? di Bonaventura: We'd probably start next spring. MTV: Are Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the rest of the main cast going to return? di Bonaventura: We haven't defined it yet. We're gonna keep that under wraps for the moment. They all did great and we liked them all. It's hard to manage as many characters as we tried. It would make life a little easier to have a few less. It'd be a hard decision to lose anybody, because they all did great. As far as bringing Larry Hama onboard he hasn't been brought onboard yet. The crew will probably finish up the 1st draft of the script, and give it to him for review, like they did with the 1st movie. With the success of movies such as Avatar in 3D, MTV, asked if GI Joe 2 will go 3D: MTV: Have there been any conversations about doing the sequel in 3-D? di Bonaventura: No, I mean we're still working on getting the script. I'd definitely be open to it, but that's Paramount's decision. But myself and whoever the director is would have a big say in that. But at this point, we haven't gotten into that conversation. So who will be the director? Who will return? Would you like the sequel to be 3D? |

The guests at JoeCon 2010 were treated to info on the new, upcoming G.I.Joe Series, G.I.Joe Renegades!
The animation is on a G.I.Joe Resolute level. The G.I.Joe Renegades toy line will launch in Fall of 2011. The line will be a follow up to G.I.Joe Pursuit of Cobra which will end after Spring of 2011. Renegades is a relaunch. The story starts off with the G.I.Joe Team on the run. There will be 26 episodes to start out, beginning with a 2 Part Pilot. The 2 stills that were shown are of very high quality, which is a big plus for those that are looking forward to this new series. Unfortunately, there was no footage/sound. The Hasbro Team hinted at a Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow 2 Part Arc and also noted that we'll be getting back stories for characters! There will be no "dumbed down" stories as the writing in the series has both children and adults in mind. We'll definitely be sure to fill you in on more details as they're received. For now, join in on the discussion in progress! |

Thanks to sister site TFW2005 for reporting that Don Figueroa has uploaded his unused design for Cobra La Galvatron to his deviantArt page. Figueroa is no stranger to GI Joe, as he has worked on GI Joe Vs Transformers crossovers before, for Dreamwave Comics years back. Here's what he had to say about this design:
This is an unused design for an unrealized TF/Joe Crossover. the idea is that after Megtron was destroyed (in the first story arch) and sent adrift into space, he was eventually found by Cobra-La, humanoid inhabitants of the Planet Unicron You can see Don's latest work on The Transformers by IDW, written by GI Joe Cobra writer Mike Costa! The BAT was one of the most sought after troop builders from the 25th Anniversary/Modern Era line. Of course, who could forget the Battle Android Troopers from the original GI Joe A Real American Hero toyline, comics by Marvel, and cartoon by Sunbow? So once the Modern Era version from wave 9 was released, it was bought up and remains one of the most popular army builders in the line.
We've seen a few repaints of the B.A.T. released, but not this rarity that HISS Tank boards member Gyre-Viper just brought home from JoeCon 2010. Gyre-Viper has posted images of the canceled Nano BAT! The Nano B.A.T. has emerged online for the 1st time today, so click on the title bar to check it out! |

At JoeCon 2010, John Warden from Hasbro donated an illustration of the Shadow Tracker for a charity auction. Warden designed the highly anticipated Shadow Tracker for the GI Joe Pursuit of Cobra line. He also designed the Volcano Viper & Jungle Viper. HISS Tank boards member Gyre-Viper was present and won the artwork...with a request.

During the panels at JoeCon 2010, Hasbro showed an unused model sheet of Zarana by Kirk Bozigian from the 1987 GI Joe The Movie! Our favorite female Dreadnok was missing something though, her top! Here's more info from Steel Brigade:
Time for a trip down GI Joe history!! This was the model sheet that Kirk Bozigian (ARAH Product manager) had in his 1st presentation archives of the infamous "Topless Zarana" from the 1987 Animated GI Joe Movie. LOL!! They wanted to make the original Joe Movie PG-13, & they could only do that by either having swearing or female nudity. They opted for the female nudity to be present when Zarana takes her dip in the lake (as many know), but what many did not know is that an actual character design sheet of this instance exists despite Hasbro scrapping the idea before the Movie was finished. Thanks to sister site TFW2005 Boards member FMA1987 for reporting that Michael Bell has played a part in GI Joe Renegades as Duke's dad, with BJ Ward as his mom, and Duke himself is played by James Marsden! The following was posted today on Bell's Facebook page:
Michael Bell To all my face bud fans. Just did a guest spot on the new Gi Joe animated series. Played Duke's dad.Duke being the ever talented Jason Marsden who incidentally, I directed in the Fox animated " Peter Pan" series way back when he was a mere teen. B J Ward played Duke's mom. What a kick to be back in the saddle again with old friends. Which other veteran GI Joe voice actors will return? |
