HISS Tank boards member ocab27 has come through with images of a Neo Viper Officer prototype. As you can see, this is distinctly different than the one released in the 2009 Attack on the PIT set exclusive to Toys R Us. Instead of using a Neo Viper body as a base, this prototype instead uses the Rise of Cobra mold of Destro, with a Neo Viper head.
It's planned destination at retail, reason for cancellation and related information is up in the air, join the speculation and see the images by hitting the title bar! |

Earlier today, Filmdrunk posted an article about an alleged script leak for GI Joe 2. Here's what they posted initially:
This morning I got an email from I guy with a story about how he has a friend who works in a studio. The story was sort of involved, but long story short, the friend saw the script for G.I. Joe 2 (written by Zombieland’s Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese) entitled “Twin Parallax” lying around, so he stole it, and left a copy in its place. The emailer included a PDF of the script in question. Filmdrunk was skeptical, and with reason, the situation reeks of HE TELL ME. So Steve Weintraub of Collider.com sought out to get the truth, and contacted scripwriter Rhett Reese, who replied: Steve, it’s a total hoax, this ‘Twin Parallax’ script. I’ve seen the cover page. It does have our names on it and a fake Paramount watermark. I didn’t read the script itself, but it’s absolutely not ours, and thus is bogus. The real first draft of GI Joe 2 is not yet finished and has not gone into the studio. With 2 years to possibly go until the premiere of GI Joe 2, who knows then the script will be available. |

Well that was quick, an auction for the upcoming Toys R Us exclusive Quick Kick from the GI Joe Pursuit of Cobra line has turned up on Ebay via an auction from Handytoy. Featuring a mix of parts from the Modern Era Quick Kick, to Resolute Storm Shadow, Training Snake Eyes and Arctic Assault Storm Shadow, this figure also has the gloves that were destined for Training Duke. Whether the latter shows up in spring 2011 along with other Pursuit of Cobra figures that were delayed is anyone's guess.
Quick Kick is set for release in fall. Hit the thumbnail to take a closer look! |

GI Joe artist Robert Atkins will be in attendance this coming weekend at Summit City Comic Con! This will be the 1st major comic book convention hosted in Fort Wayne, Indiana! The convention will be held on May 22nd from 10AM-6PM. Here's more information by The Journal Gazette:
One of the show’s organizers, Zach Kruse, says that “80 artists and writers from every level of the industry” will be in attendance, including Gary Friedrich, creator of “Ghost Rider”; Mike Norton (“Spider-Man Adventures”); Chris Burnham (“Marvel Mystery Comics” featuring the original Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner); Robert Atkins (“G.I. Joe”); Dan Davis (“Scooby-Doo”) and Art Baltazar (“Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam”). “This is a very artist-focused show,” Kruse says. “We wanted to focus on the art of making comics.” In addition to the requisite, sizable area devoted to vendors and retailers, the Summit City Comic Con will have an Artists Alley, Kruse says. “It’s a chance to wander around and check out what these guys are doing,” he says. “You can pick up some original art, get signatures and sketches, and sit down and chat with the people who make these books we love so much possible.” Atkins is no stranger to GI Joe, aside from working on the ongoing IDW GI Joe series with Chuck Dixon, he also penciled the Snake Eyes Declassified miniseries for DDP, in addition to designing the Plague Troopers! If your going to be in Fort Wayne this weekend, don't miss out on the opportunity to meet Atkins and enjoy the convention! |

HISS Tank boards member BCYOJOE has come through with more information on GI Joe Renegades, via Ad Age! The latter has posted an article on upcoming offerings from The HUB, Hasbro's joint venture with Discovery Channel.
"G.I. Joe Renegades" will spotlight the Joes on the lam from government forces and the agents of Cobra, a storyline that echoes the recent feature film released by Paramount last summer. Also, due to the government restrictions, G.I. Joe: Renegades cannot show advertisements relating to G.I. Toys during the air time. However, it can show other toy commercials such as Transformers or My Little Pony. But other shows such as Transformers: Prime, can air G.I. Joe Toy Commercials during the commercial breaks. Got one more bit of info. Till now, "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" is the only vintage show planned to go live at the HUB. However we expect other nostalgic G.I. Joe Cartoons will air as the new TV Channel matures. So, what do you think of the latest development? Click on the discuss button and share your thoughts! |

The surprise reveal of Jungle Assault Spirit at the JoeCon 2010 dio displays had folks wondering if it was a legit figure or a custom. Imagine the excitement when we found out it wasn't a custom at all, but a legit figure destined to arrive in fall as a Toys R Us exclusive! Now we have an early look at the production figure courtesy of an auction by Black Sheep Toy Store.
A few of the upcoming Pursuit of Cobra figures take influence from a movie, and associated toyline that Kenner(now part of Hasbro) once had licenses for, none other than Predator! Spirit is one of those figures. Click on the thumbnail to take a closer look at the new Spirit Iron Knife! |

More information on GI Joe Renegades has surfaced via Media Week! We've reported on the 10/10/2010 premiere in recent weeks, and Media Week has more provided information further solidifying the fall 2010 premiere:
The new joint venture from Discovery Communications and toymaker Hasbro bows on Oct. 10 with five home-grown series, plus a pair of shows produced by The Hatchery, a production company founded in 2003 by Hub president and CEO Margaret Loesch. The five Hasbro Studios programs include a pair of animated strips (G.I. Joe Renegades and Pound Puppies), as well as a one-hour game show, Family Game Night. Joining the newly unveiled Hasbro series are Transformers Prime and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, both of which were announced last fall. Also provided was The HUB's programming schedule, divied into 4 demo-specific blocks: Preschool programming for kids 2-5 will air from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Kids Afternoon/Prime block will look to make a splash with the network’s primary target, members of the 6-12 crowd. Capping the programming day, Family Prime Access (6 p.m.-7 p.m.) leads into Family Prime (7 p.m. to 11 p.m.). The Kid's Afternoon/Prime block is the one to look for. Series such as the vintage GI Joe A Real American Hero, Transformers Generation 1, and Transformers PRIME will follow. Click on the thumbnail to see the 1st public image of Duke from G.I. HISS Tank boards member babyjelly has posted new images of his recently acquired City Strike Scarlett preproduction sample from the GI Joe Pursuit of Cobra line. Unfortunately, this figure is said to be canceled, however we've seen some canceled Hasbro items see release at retail eventually, so who knows? Is this a figure that you'd like to see at retail?
This figure features bladed tonfas; what if they were also originally developed for inclusion with a "final battle" version of Snake Eyes as well? That and a version of Snake Eyes with web gear(shown in his entrance in the Rise of Cobra movie) were versions that weren't released as part of the movie line(though artwork of the web gear Snake Eyes was shown prominently on displays and other various items). Hit the title bar to see a rather unique version of Scarlett, and let us know if this is something you'd like to see released eventually! |

The free IDW iPad storefront apps each include three free comics with the initial download, and offer more comics as in-app purchases. Fans can browse nearly 200 comics for their favorite story lines, such as movie tie-ins, ongoing series or even classics from the 80s. “The iPad is a wonderful format for comics, as the screen size is close enough to the print size that readers can view the full page. IDW has developed several new features to enhance the comics and take full advantage of the iPad’s capabilities, including pinch-zoom abilities and single- or two-page viewing options. “Both G.I. JOE and TRANSFORMERS stories have such a broad appeal and have been gaining steam with the core readership, that pushing them to the front of the iPad store just made sense,” says Andy Schmidt, IDW Senior Editor on both franchises. “These are not just great apps and a great reading experience, these are great stories with beautiful artwork.” “The great comic book legacy of TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE continues in a new and exciting way with these new cutting edge applications for the iPad and other digital platforms,” said Bryony Bouyer, Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Licensing at Hasbro. “We’re thrilled to be able to deliver classic characters such as OPTIMUS PRIME and SNAKE EYES to comic fans around the world via IDW in a variety of formats.” IDW was the first comics publisher to launch its own "in app purchase" storefronts for the iPhone and iPod touch with a variety of applications. HISS Tank has just received our answers for the latest 2010 GI Joe Q&A with Hasbro. For fans worried about how the 2011 GI Joe Renegades line will look, looks like you can put those pitchforks down!
1) Will the GI Joe Renegades cartoon-based figures be compatible with PoC figures in terms of style, construction and articulation? A) G.I. Joe Renegades figures will continue to have best-in-class articulation and detail. Colors and overall styling will match animation, but Renegades figures will fit in well beside a collection of Pursuit of Cobra figures. 2) The following figures were hinted at/revealed for POC in Hasbro's 2009 Q&A's for future POC lineups, yet none of them were shown as upcoming releases at Joecon (Hasbro Tour private displays excluded): • Crazy Legs (Hasbro Q & A 11.09) • Saw Viper (Hasbro Q & A 11.09) • Helix (Hasbro Q & A 11.09) • Steel Brigade (Hasbro Q & A 12.09) Have these figures been canceled? A) When we design a new line many characters change as we go through the development process. That’s why its difficult to release information too early as ultimately plans change. These characters will not be featured in the Pursuit of Cobra line. ...yet could the aforementioned figures be released as retailer exclusives later this year?
