Bandai has announced that they will be making a DX Macross Quarter the Macross class ship used by SMS in Macross Frontier! This particular Macross is smaller than previous Macross ships, thus, much more agile in it's storm attacker mode. It is quite nimble in the series, moving unlike any Macross ship before it. The main cast of the show is stationed aboard it, and it is powerful for it's size.

Awesome stuff, I'd heard there was something like this in the pipeline. I've not seen Frontier so the background info is much appreciated

It's a spaceship aircraft carrier that can gerwalk and holster its entire flight deck to use both hands.
Really, it's a fairly palpable representation of victory.

The Quarter's alt mode is that of a big carrier, whereas a typical Macross is a huge battleship with carriers for lower arms. That should give you a sense of scale, basically think transforming Promotheus from SDF Macross. The height of the DX is said to be 20cm, not sure if that is in carrier or battroid mode, and the magazine articles in japan state that there is a specific reason for the small size, which will be revealed at a future date. |

That looks like absolute win. It's going to need some monstrous ratchets to keep those arms elevated.
There's prototypes of the pilot figures in flight gear in the poster behind it, too. Don't know if I'll pick one of those up; it depends on the price I guess. |

I do hope that Bandai includes a nice stand for the Quarter, seeing as 2/3 of its modes almost certainly will need support, and it'll probably need some sort of bolster to stand in robot mode if it's got its arms up. The lack of stand with the first two DXs was disappointing.
This thing is going to look WICKED painted up, though. Last edited by QuinJester; 02-22-2009 at 11:59 AM.. |

I forget, does the Quarter have hands that it uses to hold the 'gun' and 'shield' or are those just extensions of the arms?
Sweet pickles this thing looks awesome. |

Update!
Itching to know how big it is, and if it will come with a stand. It demands a stand! It was so agile in the show, completely surprised me. Did not expect it to manuever like a much smaller battroid. |

Also with Figure King Scans
This figure looks awesome, I thought it would be bigger, but it's not bad. |
