I cannot wait for more Marvel (MU Scaled) movie figures. I have always been a huge Cap fan and if Hasbro follows what they did with Iron Man 2 for figures I will be a happy camper. Hasbro did three awesome things with their line for IM2 as far as I am concerned:
1) Made very true to movie renditions of figures 2) Made very true to the comic renditions of figures (so us fan boys can have it both ways) 3) Made so many friggin Iron Man figures, sculpts and variants that we never ever again need another Iron Man figure. There are so many versions to choose from, I, as a complete fanboy (as Iron Man and Cap A were always my favorites) am like a pig in sh*t on this line. If Captain America follows suit we will have awesome versions of those rendered pics in this thread plus variants. We will have comic accurate figures as well. And even better, the chance to see the variants the comic line has had for decades. I mean who here doesn't want a Cap AND a US Agent variant? Hell, I'd even take an Armored Cap (from one of the low points in the comic series IMHO). Throw in a Steve Rodgers figure or three from both the movie and Secret Avengers line and we are golden. As far as bad guys go, while I detest Arnim Zola as a figure I can only hope for some of the better rogues in the CA line. Yes we will get the inevitable 18 Red Skull figures but who here doesn't want a comic accurate Cross Bones? Add in a few Serpent Squad figures, maybe, another Winter Soldier, maybe the Red Guard (or whatever the Russian team is). And then we have Thor! The comic line figures could be awesome, a Beta Ray Bill, a Thunderstrike, a Thor with Beard and Armor, Loki, etc. all giving way to the Avengers movie. Anyway, color me psyched! |

^ boombatty,
I'm with you on all of that (save the Arnim Zola part). Hasbro has done a great job with the IM2 line. Sure, there were definite paint app issues, but the amount of product is impressive. And to think, there's still more to come from this line. If they handle Cap and Thor the same, then we all have reason for celebration. It is a great time to be a fanboy, with all the great movies and excellent toys coming out! |

i think it looks good overall BUT i need some kind of wings on the helmet. even if they were more minimalist. they add a lot to the cap aesthetic.

Some new images are floating around the web of Chris Evans in Captain America uniform. They have NOT been confirmed as official but they still look great. If this is indeed the direction that they are going than I am more than happy with the look. One things for sure: it would make a great figure!
What do you guys think? Good, crappy? Real, fake?

Looks to me like there are wings on his helmet in the new pics. Definitely minimalist as they look like a paint app (as opposed to actual wing attachments).

Ultimate Cap looks so much better than Classic Cap; my childhood be damned. I don't need, or want, the wings. I can live with the paint apps shown in the new pics.

That costume looks like ass! It's nothing like the images they put up on Marvelous.com. It's all baggy and bunchy and cluttered looking. And whys he in the modern suit? Shouldn't he be wearing his WWII outfit? Even the Hydra bikers looked kind of silly to me.
Not trying to be a killjoy here. I just really don't know about some of the choices they've been making thus far. I'm so wanting this movie to kick ass! I think that Marvel did some great things with Iron Man and Hulk. I'm just hopping that their not loosing their grip. Crossing my fingers... |

They couldn't be more true to the whole D-day look? Which is basically what our soldiers wore, just blue with some FLARE, and a totally different shield. I don't know, just seems less believable. Thanks also for assuming that not only must I be illiterate, but blind as well. I'm sorry that when you experience opinions that obviously differ from your own, you fill the need to not only express yourself (which I support wholeheartedly) but that you must also suppress those differing opinions. So, since you asked so nicely, I will in fact "chill" now. |

the costume worn by the stunt double is probably just a cheap replica for the stunt, IMO. maybe it's not meant for a close up shot. you know just to see cap riding his bike from far away jumping at those hydra guys. stuff like that. after all, the stunt double is the one wearing it and not chris evans... somehow i believe that this isn't the costume chris is gonna be wearing. and i hope that it's much cooler! let's just relax and wait for new developments.

It would be so easy to sneak in a FLAME ON, with a flame thrower or something like that, lol.

Dude, if this is supposed to be the a WWII ear version of the new modern look it looks like ass and is a huge disappointment!

I think it's a safe assumption that this costume is a stunt version that's cheaper and probably well-padded for the motorcycle-riding stuntman (maybe there's a crash involved?). Probably being used in a long, brief shot.
The "hero" version of the costume will likely look significantly better I'm sure. |

And more tailored to fit Chris, I'd imagine.
But it did make me wonder: has there really ever been a comic-based movie where the costumes are 100% accurate to the source material?

None of you are getting what I'm saying. I read and saw the article. I am not mistaken. I know that it's a stunt double. I also get that it's a cheaper version for stunt reasons. My point, dare I not relax or chill, is that they should have used a WWII version costume like the pictures I posted instead of what looks like a slightly different version of the modern suit designed specifically for this film.
Sorry so many of you seem to think thats horrible of me to say. It's still my opinion. I can't believe a bunch of fan boys not only believe that I'm wrong on this but wouldn't like to see that costume or something like it in the film during the WWII scenes. Flame on... |

In the original comics, Captain America's final World War II outfit was the same thing he's worn in the modern day ever since he was thawed out, barring some very temporary situations.
Liking the Ultimate design is all well and good. But "I can't believe" you expect "fan boys" of any stripe to automatically agree with your individual opinion. I think the costume looks perfectly plausible for a "World War II" outfit in a comic-book universe where superhero technology regularly outpaces civilian technology. Let's not forget that there is/was plenty of "superscience" going on back in World War II in the Marvel Universe, and indeed it's a critical component of both Cap's origin and the creation of his shield. The movie outfit borrows elements from the outfit you've shown, his modern "Ultimate" costume, and from some of the outfits seen in "Reborn." Nevermind that they've already said he'll have multiple costumes in the film. (At least two, possibly more) Last edited by Jmacq1; 09-10-2010 at 06:51 AM.. |

I get what you're saying. And you were mistaken. Your original quote was that that particular costume in those particular photos looks "like ass", that it is the modern suit, and that it's nothing like the design images for the movie previously shown. I wasn't talking about your opinion; my assertion that you were mistaken was based on those particular assertions that are, in fact, false. That IS one of the WWII era outfits and it IS clearly based on the previously shown design images. Hate on it all you want, but those two things are facts. And believe it or not, but no one was trying to insult you or invalidate your opinion. |
