Vintage collectors beware, as there are three more Generation 1 Transformers remakes about to hit the market. Generation 1 Sideswipe, Red Alert and Protectobots Combiner Defensor are the latest Generation 1 characters to receive the knock off treatment. Defensor is relatively easy to identify as a remake by his lack of factory applied stickers (though seeing them in package might prove tricky). Check out a feedback thread by TFW member MegaMoonMan on this set for more information. Likewise, Sideswipe and Red Alert also lack their factory applied stickers - Sideswipe lacks the black chevrons on the side of the car, while Red Alert lacks the "Fire Chief" decals on his doors. Fortunately, both of these details are clearly visible through the front window of the box.
Remember, these products are not officially endorsed by Hasbro or Takara-Tomy and therefore have not been through the same quality control processes that official Transformers merchandise has to meet before being released into the market. |

Nelson has posted an update on Michael Bay's site, Shoot for the edit, with an update about the shooting locations for Transformers 3. According to Nelson, some "big action sequences" will be shot in Chicago and Moscow this time around!
Will the Autobots have their big showdown with the Decepticons in Russia at the climax of Transformers 3, or will it be the opening act like their visit to Shanghai in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Join in the speculation on our 2005 Boards by clicking the discuss button! |

Gametrailers has put up the latest Transformers War For Cybertron trailer! This trailer was shown on GTTV earlier today, and gives us our first look at the gameplay for this new game. Gameplay looks to be fast paced, with the main characters on the Autobot side in the trailer being Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Ratchet, and the Decepticons are Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave. There's also footage of some huge boss battles, including Omega Supreme and a massive Decepticon who just might be a new rendition of Scorponok! Words really cannot do this trailer justice, so if you're at all interested in War for Cybertron, head over to Gametrailers to check out the new trailer, then join in the ongoing discussion to share your thoughts on our 2005 Boards by clicking the discuss button below.

Entertainment Earth has posted a pre-order page for the Wave 6 Assortment of Marvel Transformers Crossover figures. The case breakdown, per the order page, will be 1x Venom, 1x Spider-Man, 1x Spider-Man, 1x Spider-Man (Black Car), and 2x Iron Man (Car).
As you can see, the listing is not clear with 3 different Spider-Man listings. Two of the figures are new releases: Iron Man (Car) and Spider-Man (Black Car). Venom is the previously released Venom figure, while one of the additional Spider-Man listings are likely the Spider-Man (Motorcycle) mold and the other the Spider-Man (Red/Blue Car) mold. |

Kotaku has posted up an article describing a first hand, hands on look at Transformers War for Cybertron for the Nintendo DS. The War for Cybertron goes portable in this title developed by Vicarious Visions, and includes a "partner" system where players can select two characters and are encouraged to switch between them to progress through the game. One such partnership shown in the demonstration the good people at Kotaku were privy to was a team of Jetfire and Grimlock!
Check out the original article here on Kotaku, and click here to view their gallery of images of Vicarious Visions' portable version of War for Cybertron! |

Last night Michael Bay was a guest on Starz' "In the House", and true to form, he took a little time out to talk about his upcoming projects including Transformers 3. While Michael Bay was tight-lipped about specific plans, he revealed that yes, himself and Paramount are experimenting with 3-D for some Transformers scenes. Michael Bay wants to see how it will look for his footage with lots of particles coming out of the frame. And of course, he also teased on adding new characters and new story revelations, although he's not given anything away:
"We're adding a lot of new elements. We're adding new characters. We're adding a lot of twists." What does this mean for Transformers 3? What new elements and new twists could be introduced into the story this time around? Kotaku have also posted an article talking about the console version of Transformers War for Cybertron. The article sets an excellent tone for the mindset of the developers with the opening quote:
"The goal was not to make the best Transformers game ever. The goal was to make a great game that was a Transformers game." The article goes on to talk about some of the cool touches in the game, such as a More than Meets the Eye homage involving Bumblebee on a highway being pursued by Decepticon jets and the origins of Jetfire and Starscream, but there is also a good portion of coverage on what you have all been waiting to hear about - the gameplay! Players can take control of one of three members of a squad of Transformers, with online friends able to drop in and out to control either of the other two. There are stat boosting abilities, such as Optimus Prime's "Call to Arms" warcry move boosting the attack power of nearby friendly units, and transforming provides a quick way to get around the battlefield. Players can also strafe while in vehicle mode, even when playing as a "car" based Transformer like Bumblebee. Unfortunately though there is no cover system. Check out the full article over on Kotaku for a more extensive look at the game, and some more screenshots from the game by clicking here to view their gallery. Keeping on with the Japanese Animated image galleries, now it's Ironhide's (Bulkhead's) turn. GenZhao gives us great comparison views against the previous Hasbro release version in vehicle and robot modes. The new metallic sheen is apparent although it does not seem that he gets added paint applications.
Click above to see if you can spot more differences between both or to just check out the image gallery. |

Recently shown at New York's Toy Fair by Hasbro, Genzhao brings us in hand images of the Voyager class Night Ops Ratchet repaint. Taking its paint scheme from the RPM line, this figure has a more vivid paint job than previous releases. The vehicle mode in particular seems to have gained a fair amount of paint applications.

E-Hobby have updated their order page for Masterpiece MP-3G Starscream Ghost Version with their official "Online Exclusive Character Bio (Long Version)". Fortunately thanks to the efforts of 2005 Boards staff member SydneyY, we can enjoy the bio in English! The bio states that this Ghost Starscream is a combination of many different Starscreams from many different realities, including the Marvel Comics Generation 1 Starscream and the original cartoon Starscream. IGN has posted some further details on Vicarious Visions' handheld version of Transformers War for Cybertron, for Nintendo DS. As with the 2007 Movie and Revenge of the Fallen DS titles, the game is split between Autobot and Decepticon editions; what IGN has now confirmed though is that each version will have a total of 15 - yes, fifteen - playable characters. Many of the characters will be unlocked during play, either by finding secrets in stages or through multiplayer mode. The article also goes into detail with a bit more information on the player swapping system, covering some interesting puzzle solving mechanics such as using the right combination of characters. The example cited involves using Jetfire to fly to an otherwise inaccessible platform and then using Bumblebee to slide through a small gap to reach an otherwise inaccessible area.

Another day and another repaint. This time Genzhao brings us a Transformers Payload image gallery. Seen earlier on our Toy Fair coverage, Payload takes the Revenge of the Fallen Long Haul mold, Hasbro has given us a nice Generation 2 inspired deco with weathering effects around the dump bed. Clear plastic is also replaced with translucent red, which is readily apparent on his twin swords that pop out of his forearms like before.

Genzhao again brings us a full gallery of images for an upcoming Japanese Takara-Tomy Animated release. This time we get to see Decepticon double agent Shockwave in his real and alternate Longarm Prime guises. Apart from faction color changes, the loss of his Decepticon emblem on the tank/crane barrel, and a slightly different grey hue nothing else is apparently changed.

In an interview with the MTV Movies Blog, Hasbro CEO and Transformers live action movie series executive producer Brian Goldner has revealed a few new teasing hints at what might be in store for Transformers 3. In particular, there is a promise of going back to the roots of the story and bringing more of the core mythology to the forefront:
"What we’re really doing is getting back to some of the core character development and storytelling. And I think there’s some elements of the core story that the filmmakers, Michael in particular wanted to tell. He’s really well-versed in the Transformers lore. So I think you’ll see, you know, less bedlam, more characters." In addition to the comments on the story, Brian Goldner confirms that stars Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf will be returning to reprise their roles in the third film. TFWiki has posted up some very interesting and rare information today - scans from a 1986 Hasbro Toy Fair Catalog. This catalog was purchased in a joint charity drive between TFWiki and the Allspark, which raised $2340 for Hasbro Children's Hospital.
The catalog scans reveal some very early "what might have been" versions of the original 1986 Transformers lineup, including a Galvatron with a different, larger gun and black particle cannon (shown at left) a yellow Tailgate and a white Hub Cap, and alternate versions of Runamuck, Cyclonus (here called Scourge), Superion and lots more! Check out all the scans and the names of all who donated to the charity drive by clicking here. GI Joe fans! Check out some scans of the GI Joe section of the catalog here! |
