I do enjoy watching it at 7:00 EST. Then I don't have to wait all night for it to come on. 9:00 is so late! lol

I was disappointed that last night's show was a rerun, but they did pick a good episode to show again, especially with the pop up facts across the bottom.

I missed the fact that Richard's ship crashed into the statue when it came to the island, and that's why it's missing a toe. Thank goodness for the pop up.
Also Jacob told Richard that coming to the island was a new start for people. Their past doesn't matter. Jack said that to Kate back in season 1 I think. And the white stone that Richard gives the Man in Black from Jacob. There's a scene where Smocke and Sawyer are talking and Smocke says the white stone is an "inside joke." I didn't get that the first time around. And even though Jacob has been killed, Smocke still can't leave the island because of the candidates. Maybe that's why he needs the plane? That fact still confused me. Those are the facts that stood out to me anyway. If I think of anything else that was interesting, I will post it. |

I'm pretty sure the statue already had 4 toes to begin with. The fact that it got destroyed by the Black Rock was a fact that we didnt know until that episode. And how a ship like that can demolish such a large statue and still remain relatively intact is beyond me.

So far all I've figured out besides what's already mentioned is:
Smokey can't leave unless all the candidates do. One of them would be the new jacob (Hugo?), so they all have to leave. The law of balance on the island makes jacob the yang to smokey's yin. So he can't leave unless jacob does, and since he doesn't know which will be the new Jacob, they all have to leave. The statue indeed had 4 toes, that mystery is still around. Though why it broke is sorta explained with how the black rock got where it is on the island. Still leaves the mystery of what the statue was, and why the temples exist. Smokey needs a dead body who's soul isn't trapped on the island to take over. First the Doc's father, then John Locke. People who die on the island, souls are stuck on the island, due to the same magnetic forces and other weird attributes of the island, like the ancient time dislodging device. Not exactly limbo, but sort of a 'man' made one too. This is what I'd assume keeps smokey from taking the form of any body he chooses, and why it has to be a body that died off the island. Smokey was once human before he was marked into what he is. (mark of cain? Speculative.... But eden does fit many of the attributes mentioned previously, or at least the place that inspired those legends.) The AU is the current problem though. They seem connected to the island people, but what happens if the island people leave? Earth shattering paradox? Since the island is sorta outside time and space? Or will they just merge with their AU selves into these new lives? Personally I lean more towards now they can't ever leave or else the paradox happens. The AU seems to have sunken the island during the nuke, so I guess that means this is the junction point of the change. Things that would have happened because of the island now didn't. Ben left as a kid with his dad, Russo never went to the island after the fact, and so on. Probably even changing the doc and claire's dads interaction with the island. No clue how whidmore and his wife know this though. There's been more explained too, but without the eps in front of me, I'm drawing blanks, since honestly the only thing I care about is WTF is the island itself. And Sayid seemed to go out in a pointless blaze of glory. I thought he had turned evil now, but he sacrificed himself for everyone. Seemed like a big subplot all for nothing. Maybe we still haven't seen the last of him. Or at least Hugo hasn't. ...oh and Eye Patch Man kept coming back to life, so you just never know I guess. Quote:

Or he could just kill them all....I'm eager to see what will happen next. How do these "rules" work? Smocke said he's "going to finish what he started." Does that mean he's fed up, and he's going to break the rules, and just kill them? Or can he do that? Maybe he still has a plan to trick them to still kill themselves.

Given, it's been a few years since I saw those episodes, but didn't Walt mysteriously appear in the jungle a few times? Now Walt is all grown up and living off the island, correct? Was Ghost Jungle Walt really the Smoke Monster? Good question on walt. Don't think unlocke can kill them directly. Then again he does have claire with him now. He can trick them into doing it themselves, or have someone else do it. But I don't he can directly cause a death of a candidate. Kate isn't a candidate though anymore. So she's fair game, which could make sawyer do another stupid thing. Last edited by Snowflakian; 05-07-2010 at 09:33 AM.. |

MIB can't kill any one who is a candidate. Apparently that is one of the rules. But, if they all die on their own, then he can leave the island. He set the bomb so that it would only go off if it was tampered with. If Sawyer trusted Jack, nothing would have happened.
I'm not sure that was MIB posing as Walt when he appeared in front of Shannon, and then later Sayid as well. And I dont believe MIB needs the person to be dead in order to take their form, however the only example I have of this is Walt showing up in front of Locke, after Ben shot him. When he appeared before Shannon, he was soaking wet. We learned that water now plays some role with the MIB, after Sawyer told Jack to push MIB in the water. I'm curious if that affects him in some way. |

Hell yea! A Lost forum!! I love this show
I was a little disapointed in Sayid's departure but I guess the writers are just thining out the herd (Jinn and Sun,Lapiedus) as we near the finali. I really think it is going to come down to Jack vs Smokey. I agree with previous posts about the signifigance of water in relation to MIB. In one of the episodes Sawyer asked "Smock" (I like that very clever) if he can just turn into smoke ect. why dosn't he just leave the island, and he replied "because I can't". My guess is that the water has a binding effect on the MIB and that is why Jacob imprissoned him on an island from the begining. I want to know what Ben and Richard are up to, and what the "sacrifice" Desmond is supposed to do is all about. |

I thought Claire looked worried when Smocke said he was going to finish what he started as if she didn't want them killed, so I don't think Smocke could get her to kill them. However, she does seem a tad on the nutty side, and they did just try to leave in the sub without her, so that might make her a little upset.
That was one of my favourite moments when Sawyer asked, "Why don't you turn into Smoke and fly off the island," and Smocke replied, "Because I can't." And Sawyer says, very sarcastic, "Yeah, because that would be ridiculous." Sawyer gets all the best lines. |

Only one episode left until the finale. So basically, tomorrow night IS actually the last episode ever. What are people doing to watch said last ep, or the series finale?

So now that it's all over (if you don't count the extra "Hurley and Ben Years" coming out on the complete DVD set), what did everyone think? I had to take time to digest it and think about it. I did want more answers about the island, but if the mystery was spelled out for us, it probably would've been bad. I'm not sure an explanation could be offered that wouldn't have made everything cheesy/lame.

The "hurley and ben years" is basically just a monologue of their time on the island. I have a terrible feeling it will be horrible and disappointment, but that's not stopping me from buying the complete set.

Yes, it's been said that the complete series dvd will have 12-14 minutes additional footage of Ben and Hurley's time on the island. I suspect this will be it's own "bonus short" but I suppose it's possible it would be cut into the finale when the set is released.
I hope you are wrong MegaPrime33 (but I fear you could be right)! |

So who's getting the season 6 set? I want to see the 14 minutes, but I don't know if that justify's buying it. Maybe I'll rent it.
