1up has posted their summer round-up of all video games with movie tie-ins. One of them is the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra video game by Electronic Arts. Here is some of what they had to say:
How closely does the game follow the movie? This third-person shooter is actually a sequel to the movie that draws upon more GI Joe sources (comics, cartoons, etc.). So while the character likenesses are based on the movie (until you unlock more costumes), the rest of the game is more of a nostalgia yarn rather than a digital Cliffs Notes of the movie. Our opinion? We're not big fans of either treatment (our dream GI Joe game is essentially a reskinned Battlefield-style game), but we give the nod to the game for now. Mostly because it's already stepping away from the movie, and the easy-to-play nature plus the co-op has the potential to make it as newbie friendly as a Lego Insert-Franchise-Here title. Will this game go beyond just being a run of the mill, movie tie-in game, and provide countless hours of fun? We'll find out in just a few months! |

In the recent trailer for G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra, Ripcord and Duke are shown during their introduction to the accelerator suits. An instructor was shown talking to both characters, and now a figure of him has emerged for auction courtesy of jiandan9966.
First shown a few weeks back, no one knew who this guy was until the trailer premiered last week. Click on the thumbnail to the left to take a closer look at the Accelerator Suit Instructor! |

I thought the guy talking to Duke and Ripcord about the accelerator suit was Heavy Duty.

Thanks to HISS Tank.com boards member toyssir898 for posting new images of upcoming G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra vehicles, 1 of them here shown for the very first time! Shown in these new images, is the repainted Sting Raider from Valor VS Venom with Lamprey repaint, as well as the retooled Firebat, now with landing skis, new thrusters & missle launchers, with a repaint of Airborne. Both of these vehicles are from the alpha vehicle class.
Shown here for the 1st time is the repainted Sky Sweeper Jet, also from Valor VS Venom, with a figure that HISS Tank.com members have theorized to be the movie Aero Viper. This bravo sized vehicle still retains it's sound attack port, and removable spy plane that be hidden within it. Click on the title bar to see more! |

Bob Vala has updated his DeviantArt page with some of his designs from the Best of the 80's G.I. Joe DVD Battle Pack. Yes, the very same pack that has proven nearly impossible to find if you did not place an order early. Some say it's a myth, other's say it's the 8th wonder of the G.I. Joe world.
Click on the title bar to see what some of us could have had, had most of us found this set at retail! Stay tuned, as a figure from G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra that he worked on will be released this summer! |

Ws_toys has posted new auctions of G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra prototypes. We've seen some of these before, like the repaint of wave 1 Snake Eyes, another unknown Snake Eyes figure with a mix of different parts, Scarlett, Beachhead from Headquarters for Heroes, and an A.V.A.C. repaint. However there is a new figure in the mix, the prototype for Reactive Impact Armor Ripcord!

HISS Tank.com boards member Maulfett has posted his sculpture of Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra! Spending nearly 40 hours(possibly more now) on this piece, he has made an accurate depiction of Snake Eyes sans visor, from the movie.
That's not all, Maulfett is going further with this piece, planning to make a latex mask from it, he's gotten a visor already, and will make a full body costume as well! He may have it completed just in time before the movie premiere! Click on the title bar to more images, including the progression from beginning to it's current state! |

Sideshow Collectibles has been taking part in question and answer sessions with fans, leading up to their May Fantacular event. This week, one question about the most famous Cobra saboteur and a popular G.I. Joe ranger was asked:
Is there any chance that Beachhead and Firefly can be made for the G.I. Joe series? Yes! Both Beachhead and Firefly are currently in development for our G.I. Joe line. When will we see Beachhead & Firefly? That remains to be seen, but hopefully we'll see them soon! Looks like fans will finally get the definitive 12" versions of these two popular characters. |

G.I. Joe Cobra #3 by IDW has been reviewed. In what may be the most shocking issue of the series, Chuckles makes decisions that will have you questioning his morality. Dark hero, or just another warrior in a conflicted conflict? Is their really an evil side at this point, or is their just a difference of opinion? You decide.
