Also on display at the San Diego Comic Con 2010 is this incredible piece. The Sideshow Collectibles Optimus Prime maquette is based on Optimus Prime's live action movie incarnation and features a staggering level of detail. Every little detail from the silver screen, right down to the weathering and scratches in the armor, are faithfully recreated here. This is just a prototype at this stage so the final product might be slightly different, but the amount of time and effort lavished on this piece is evident just by looking at the images. Check them out by clicking on the title of this story.
Also be sure to check out our sister sites for more coverage of the non-Transformers items on display: |

The Hub (the joint TV network between Hasbro and Discovery Channel) had their own event at San Diego Comic Con. It was mainly set up to show off their biggest IPs: Transformers and G.I. Joe. For Transformers, there was a large Optimus Prime you could have your picture taken with.

After much delay (and even a cancellation), Takara will finally be releasing Device Label Broad Blast (or as most know him, Blaster) on July 24th 2010. Now, thanks to the Higekumatoytoy blog, we get an in depth look at this new release. This version of Blaster will still be able to hold all the G1 Cassettebots, looks to have fairly good articulation, light piping, and transforms into a mini Laptop with 8 available USB ports.

A selection of photos showing the Transformers 3 on-location filming at the Wrigley Building Chicago has appeared on flickr, and they bring across some blazing hot news! Not only do they showcase the level of mayhem and explosions we have come to know and love from director Michael Bay, but they also confirm that a fan-favorite will be returning for the third movie - Soundwave! Like the Shockwave head image from earlier this week, Soundwave's head is seen on set as a prop intended to help the actors visualise the robot who will be CGI'ed in later.
Looks like someone just might be getting out on the front lines this go around... There's lots more to see as well, from the devastation and several animated .gifs showing some of the events on set, and of particular interest a pair of movies - one showing a massive series of pyrotechnics on Michigan Avenue, and the other showing a helicopter fly overhead and a team of stuntmen leap out in a carefully-synchronized skydive. Check out both of the videos and the various images and sound off with what you think on our 2005 Boards by clicking the discuss button. |

Headrobots has shared an update with us on their latest Headrobot releases, Hothead, Blood and Gyro.
First of all Hothead, who is designed for Universe Headhead but is also backwards compatible with Generation 1 Hardhead, has been delayed until mid-August to make the release as good as possible. We have also received new images of the next two releases from Headrobots following Hothead. Blood and Gyro are upgrades for the Revenge of the Fallen Masters of Metalikato Bludgeon and Whirl, respectively, giving each a new, more Generation 1 look. Each comes with a wide selection of parts, although I particularly wish to draw you attention to Blood who will feature two alternate faces sporting the Generation 1 look on one side, and the IDW Comics look on the other. Click on the link above or the title of this story to check out more images. You can place a preorder for Hothead at our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store, TFSource or Kapow Toys. |

The Iron Man 2 Transformers Crossover series, which we were able to reveal to you earlier this month, has been released at US retail! This all-Iron Man assortment (guest starring War Machine) was spotted at a Fred Meyers in Washington State by optimus57993.
Happy hunting, Crossovers fans! Remember, this assortment contains the retooled version of the Captain America originally intended for The Punisher, before that toy's cancellation. Remember to share your information on what you are finding and keep up to date with your fellow fan's finds in our Transformers Sightings forum! |

Courtesy of 2005 Boards member artoni, we have a summary of the major reveals from the IDW Publishing panel from the San Diego Comic Con 2010!
- Generation 1 ongoing will be focusing on "HOT ROD IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE". Don't worry if you can't stand the character though - he's shown being choked by Starscream. The story is set to shift focus to the Decepticons and a lot of major events will go down. - Transformers movie continuity Sector Seven miniseries was shown again. It focuses on the history of the organization and the Simmons family who are inextricably linked to it. - Transformers: Drift #3 will introduce Lockdown into the IDW continuity, as well as delving into the mysteries of the third faction. - Working on a miniseries featuring Punch / Counterpunch. No date or information on artist / writer, only that IDW are working on it. - No more plans for any more Spotlights until a few holes in the canon are filled and threads tied together. - Andy Schmidt (IDW Editor) mentioned that they will try to keep a more steady art style for the ongoing series. Not mention as to which art style that might be, but apparently Don Figueroa will be toning down certain elements of his current style due to fan dislike. - Alex Irvine is working on another book. - Lastly, the subject of "The original 13" was brought up. The response was "no comment", with a hint from Mike Costa that discussions are taking place between him and Simon Furman. Andy Schmidt adds that they have not forgotten them. - Andy Schmidt also adds no, they have not forgotten Simon Furman either. |

Though largely the same as the original (including stickers, though they look to come pre-applied this time), some differences include Overbite having a different purple used for his body, and Snaptrap having an all green head. Click on the title to see a sample of the pictures!
This set is currently available and only through Big Bad Toy Store. |

Cybergundam Blog has posted some scans of the Transformers pages in the September 2010 edition of Dengeki Hobby magazine. In this edition there is a heavy focus on Transformers Animated, with highlights including the Animated Microbots collection, the EZ-Collection Starscream campaign toys, and the August releases. On the August release front, you can see images of Takara-Tomy's Rodimus, Cybertron Mode Optimus Prime vs Megatron and Samurai Prowl.
Also on show is some design work for Masterpiece Rodimus Convoy - this is, however, the same image we saw earlier this week. |

We have received an update from Auto Assembly, Europe's largest Transformers convention who are on the cusp of breaking their own attendance record! At the time this update went out, they had received their 501st pre-registered attendee, equaling last year's record! This actually means the event may sell-out on pre-registration alone, so if you want to attend and have not pre-registered, don't rely on walk-ins! Head on over to the Auto Assembly 2010 homepage to get pre-registered and avoid disappointment!
Onto the main bulk of the news. Unfortunately due to personal commitments, Guido Guidi has had to pull out of attending this year. In his place though, thanks to a massive fundraising effort from the good people at Moonbase 2, Auto Assembly can announce that James Roberts, author of Eugenesis and co-writer of Last Stand of the Wreckers will be attending Auto Assembly 2010! Check out the full news update video below: |

We have a new opening sequence for the Transformers: Animated (Japan). The original Transformers EVO song is replaced by the latter part of the same song.
Type-R of 2005 Boards who first reported the news said… “This week's episode of Animated in Japan features an updated version of the OP with a new segment (time stamp 1:27) replacing the Starscream clones salute in front of Cybertron mode Megatron from the original. The new version shows Soundwave, Electrostatic Soundwave, Laserbeak and Swindle transforming in front of Megs in helicopter mode. Instead of Slipstream, this time Megs (in earth bot mode) is flanked by 2 Cybertron mode Blackouts! The final big bad that Optimus flies up to fight at the end is still shrouded so I guess it's not earth mode Megs since he was already shown earlier in the OP. Possibly a Lugnut Supreme then.” You can enjoy the video, below… |
