I find myself to be a scattered collector, never really being into buying a WHOLE line. I buy what either means the most to me from childhood, or whatever I find VERY cool. An example as of lately I bought up a Masterpiece Optimus MP-04 because I sold my original Hasbro one years back and have always wanted another, and around the same time I bought the Ghostbusters Mattel 6'' Egon, Stanz, Zeddemore and the 12'' Venkman because that movie was a BIG part of my childhood. Anyone do anything similar?

I'm exclusive to Marvel Universe and other Marvel 3.75" figures right now, but the way I collect is either 1.) What I think looks really cool and detailed for that scale, or 2.) what I need to complete a "team", since I love displaying my figures as teams (i.e.: X-Men, Avengers, Marvel Knights, etc.).

My Marvel 3 3/4 collection is based more on the Marvel Universe. While I like to collect them all, my main focus is to "collect" every character from the Marvel Universe thereby completing the Universe as a whole. To put it another way I want to have every character appearing in Marvel Comics or at least every one they make/or I make. Right now my character collection stands at 95.

I consider myself a random collector as of late. Well, more like a lapse random collector, as I really don't buy much these days. I used to be all about Star Wars back in the late 90s, then I got into Transformers and have been all about that. Then when GI Joe 25th came out, I bought a bunch of figures. But now, when I buy, it's based on what I think is cool. I've bought MOTUC, Transformers, and MU, but only 1 piece of each.

i consider myself a theme/team collector. most of mt TFs are Classicsverse or fit into that description, while almost all of my Marvel stuff is Iron Man (armory, friends and foes all directly involved with him in his core comics/stories) and one deadpool. i am also opening myself up to army building specific units like AIM, (maybe someday hydra) or the Guardsmen/ Shield.

I'm with eisen on the army thing. I totally want both a HYDRA and SHIELD army as part of my collection.

Anything that looks cool, I buy. Although I mostly stick to TFs, I have been known to branch out sometimes.

I'm with you on that. Transformers G1 is what I watched during childhood and I purchase these toys to rekindle my childhood memories. I branch out to Marvel stuff because I 'dream' of being a superhero one day and saving the planet.

I'm definitely a completist. I pretty much collect three lines. MU, DCU and Middle Earth toys. Middle Earth toys only had like 7 figures so that was easy, DCU I got a few of but I cant and wont complete because it is draining my finances from my MU compaign.
In my MU collection though I have several different supplements to "My Marvel Universe". I have every freaking figure of MU (including, Fury, both SDCC exclusives, Flame On Torch, and all possible variants to date) and selects of other lines. I think my total is about 130ish. I would complete DCU if I had enough money but....I can't stop MU |
