The latest set of Transformers Encore releases, consisting of Rumble, Frenzy, Laserbeak and Overkill, is arriving in the stock rooms of Japanese stores. TFW2005 supporter llamatron spotted one set in the Daiba Station, Tokyo Toys R Us, which had accidentally put the set out early and snapped a pic before the sets were pulled from the shelves.
So those who are waiting on this set to be released need not wait much longer, as they are officially due for release next week! Of interest to those collecting Encores, these new versions of Laserbeak, Rumble and Frenzy have tampographed cassette details, instead of the sticker versions on the original casettes. |

The Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Power Bot Sideswipe has finally be found at US retail! Sideswipe, the latest member of the Power Bots lineup, was previously released in Australia, in Canadian packaging, but with no US release it was thought he might have slipped off the release schedule. Fortunately for Power Bot fans, this is not the case! Power Bot Sideswipe was sighting in the Colerain Avenue Target in Cincinnati Ohio by 2005 Boards member Transfan2, and in Westchester Ohio by all are dead.

2005 Staff member SydneyY has kindly translated an interview with Takara-Tomy Transformers design team members Shogo Hasui and Hisashi Yuki. This recent interview, published in Transformers Generations 2009 Volume 3, takes a look at the development process of the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen toys - the development of the Mech Alive gimmick concept as well as the challenge of realising the second movie's more unorthodox designs as toys. Mr. Shogo Hasui and Mr. Hisashi Yuki also talk about the development of the Human Alliance and Gravity Bot sublines, the thought processes, concepts and challenges that all shaped the development of these two fun and popular sublines. You can check out the full interview by clicking here or by clicking on the discuss button.

Word is spreading around the internetz about a new off-year video game based on the Transformers license, tentatively called Transformers: The War For Cybertron. The game is not based on any one generation or version of Transformers that has come before, however, from early concept art it looks like it has a very "War Within" style, with many pre-Earth Cybertronian modes of Generation 1 characters making an appearance.
The game is said to be a first-person over the shoulder shooter with Transformations included, along with a wide inter-changable weapon array and supporting cast members in each mission. The game will be released by Activision, and they have let us know that a trailer will be up on GameTrailers later in the week, with more details to the various fan sites after that. Make sure to read more details and check some pictures by discussing this on the forums. Check out the original post at the Allspark. |

Looks like our favorite Robots In Disguise will be making a comeback in 2010 with a new incarnation and mandatory cartoon to follow.
Casting is currently being held for voice actors. Transformers Generation 1 and Animated veteran Michael Bell has stated in an interview during a podcast that he has auditioned for it. The casting is being done by none other than Sue Blu, known for her voice as G1 Arcee, and casting/production work on Beast Wars and Transformers Animated. Bell auditioned for Ratchet, and also a (presumably human) character named "General Fowler". Thanks to the Moonbase2 podcast for getting the info. Check them out and don't forget about our WTF @ TFW Podcast as well! |
