the black suit is the variant, not in every case. Like the trench coat version of question.

Picked up Green Arrow and regular Joker today. You know, I wasn't a huge fan of molded capes, but I really like the material they used for Superman and Batman, as well as Green Arrow's bow and hoodie, and Joker's jacket. Very nice. IMO, adds a bit of extra quality to the figures.

The new added articulation on upcoming figures after Alex Luthor consists of:
ball elbows & knees, swivel wrist and hinged ankles. |

And the same continued FAIL on all figures consists of: swivel hips and waist. Mattel's improvements still leave them 10 years behind the state-of-the-art.

Well, at least they're finally moving out of the 70's.
Personally, I'm glad to see some improvement, even if the figures remain sub par compared to similarly-scaled figures in other lines.

It kills me that this line is so subpar. Not only is the DCU one of my favorite franchises, Mattel is my favorite toy company(ever since Hasbro absorbed Kenner). I was hoping this line would be the next best thing to a Super Powers relaunch but they look like import knock-offs. It really seems that Mattel can only do great larger toys(MOTUC, DCUC; Hell, even some of their Fisher Price Planet Heroes look cool) while their smaller toys are poor. Hasbro, imho, seems to be the exact opposite. Their continuation of ToyBiz' Legends line stinks but their 25th Anniversary G.I. Joes and the upcoming Marvel Nick Fury Files toys look sweet.

I thought I'd add in here (as a first time poster) that I love this line (despite some of it's misses) and can't wait to see what it ends up being. I've got some of the MU figures and at least the first wave doesn't look to blow DCIH out of the water. Out of the four I have, I'm disappointed with three of them. More articulation is good, but only if it doesn't take away from the sculpt. DCIH has much a much better overall look to me (with the exception of the MU Wolverine). I think DC can pull off a normal looking person much better than the Marvel characters. Daredevil just looks horrid in the hip area because of the articulation and his neck looks disfigured. I thought MU might put the DCIH line to rest, but I'm not so certain. I know the next wave of figures will probably look better (Hulk, Cap, GG), but for now I'm not so impressed with them.

Well according to what Flint reported at the NYCC, the upcoming DCIH figures will have improved articulation starting with Animal Man, so here's hope and I'm thinking that they may have a chance.

I just came across this list of Mattel itmes from the Wal-Mart computers:
Action Figure Insider - Best Toy News on the Web! Upcoming Mattel Bonanza? It's dated from November, but a lot of what's listed matches up with what's either shown up or was shown at NYCC. A couple things I found interesting (if this is accurate): Mary Marvel, Bizzaro and Flash 1 will be single packed (for those of you not wanting to buy the 3-packs) Captain Atom will be single packed (for those of you not wanting to buy the Metropolis set) John Stewart will be in a 3-pack (for those of you not wanting to buy the Oa set) I find this pretty nice/disturbing. A lot of people who have been shelling out a lot to buy sets to get these figures are going to have a cow when they seem them again. I'm also pretty upset that the hardest to find set (Gotham Patrol 6-pack) is not going to have it's unique figures released in single form anytime soon. |

I finally found a Sinestro figure the other day. Does anyone know if they are going to do a SC version of Sinestro too?

If they are, it hasn't been announced or leaked anywhere yet. I'd be surprised if they didn't though.

I did find Martian Manhunter, Red Arrow, & Blue Beetle. I skipped black Mary Marvel & Psycho Pirate. Flash Barry Allen & Bizarro were either sold or not put on the pegs. Unfortunately Target has raised their price $2 to $6.99. They are now 3 cents higher than Walmart.
BBTS.com has new 3 packs in stock. (of course they are overpriced!) DC Universe Infinite Heroes 3-Packs 2009 Wave 01: Set of 3 - DC Universe Classics Infinite Heroes at BigBadToyStore They also have a new wave for pre-order. DC Universe Infinite Heroes 2009 Assortment A Wave 03: Set of 6 - DC Universe Classics Infinite Heroes at BigBadToyStore 1x Firestorm (not currently pictured) 1x Robin (Earth-2) (not currently pictured) 1x Two-Face (not currently pictured) |

I like this series. I like the articulation. But I would really like much better sculpts. We know they can do it, now they need to.

Distribution could be better for them. It's like every store in my area only gets a certain a wave. Toys R Us is still on wave 1s, walmart is on whatever the black canary wave is, and target seems to be the only one getting new ones in.
Other than that I love em. Granted articulation and sculpts could be better, but they are good enough for the price. My only real complaint is the lack of accessories. Green Lantern without his battery is just weird, ditto to sinestro without his. Let alone the many others that could use some help too in that area. |

well the sculpts could be better even for the amount of money. look at what hasbro can do with theirs.
accessories would be great. even a few vehicles or playsets. |

Marvel Universe is 8 USD (7.99-8.53) For the cost, marvel universe better have the superior sculpts lol. This is just the cost from various local stores. It does not take into account online stores inflation. I'd gladly pay a few dollars more if they were on par with MU. But since they aren't. The price to detail and accessory ratio is bearable. Not happy with it, but at the same time, can't complain either too much. |
