Honestly, if it was something truly rare (if there is really such a thing at mass retail these days) then I'd go ahead and keep it. Not PC for sure, but that's the way it is. I do go out of my way to help out kids when they are shopping, and frequently give a suggestion to parents about stuff if they are gift shopping. Helped out several this last holiday while they were TF shopping with regards to ease of transformation and how sturdy the toy is during play.

how many of each figure do you normally buy? Personally, I try to buy two of each of the Deluxe and Voyager figures. That way I can display one in 'bot mode and one in alt mode.
If I find a figure I really like, I'll but a third one to either keep MISB or to fiddle around with. If I have a Leader class figure (or bigger) I'll only buy one because they're just too big and clunky to keep muliples of. So how many of each figure do you normally buy? Does size-class affect how many you end up getting of each figure? THANKS for posting!! Last edited by trebleshot; 01-29-2009 at 01:27 PM.. |

One per character. That can sometimes equate to multiples of the same mold, just with different decos. Sometimes, I'll even pass on a "new character" redeco because I don't like the colors (read: Universe Dropshot).
On rare occasions, I will buy multiples of the same character in the same deco. Even then, it's just one extra to keep MISB.

There is one more assortment of Deluxes and Voyagers announced:
Deluxes - Arcee, Electrostatic Soundwave Voyagers - Hydrodive Bumblebee (new, Deluxe scale Bumblebee and huge accessory) and Golfire (Goldfire?) Grimlock. Given there's also the series of Deluxes before that, Waspinator and Samurai Prowl, still to come, I would imagine these are the last to come out before the Revenge of the Fallen line hits shelves. There are also the Target Exclusive battle packs - Shockwave with Activator Bumblebee and Sunstorm with Activator Ratchet. And unless I am mistaken, Activators still has the assortment with Dirge and Cliffjumper to come. |

Robot Masters Victory Saber is an awesome set. It is a good alternative to the big ones it you don't want to shell out a small fortune for the vintage - although I've got to say the vintage wins out for being so large and cool.

I have been trying to trim the doubles out of my collection. I have both of these MISB and only want to keep one. Between the two which has more QC problems? I will eventually open the keeper up and get rid of the other. I like the box of the TFC more, I like the Pat Lee Prime art. I also like the idea of painted faction sybols on the Encore version. Another option is to open both and swap the Primes so I have the Encore Prime with the TFC box. For those who have both which is you favorite?
Encore Prime is loose and crappy, IMO, I sold mine, but the TFC Prime is really solid. Go Figure. Someone did a write up on TFW about Encore Prime vs. KO Prime, and the KO Prime was better overall quality wise, more solid than the Encore. The mold has been used so much, and it affects the quality. Not to mention the plastic feels cheaper, seriously...I honestly think Encore Prime is better left sealed, and I'm not really a MISB guy.

Finding a G1 Jetfire on the shelf at a Hills in 1989. Especially when I had dreamed about that moment about 3 years before it actually happened. Definitely a surreal moment in my life.
My only regret is I didn't pick up the Galvatron they had at the same time.
