It's just two weeks until San Diego Comic Con 2009! The convention program has been revealed, and we can confirm that the Transformers panels will take place at the following times:
On Thursday 23 July at 12:30, Hasbro will be giving a panel on Transformers in Room 7AB. This is the much-anticipated "new products" panel which will recap some of what was shown at Botcon 2009, but will hopefully reveal some new surprises too! In particular a sneak peak at the ongoing 25th Anniversary celebrations into 2010 is promised - this is not one to be missed! GI Joe fans might want to get there an hour earlier to catch the GI Joe panel as well. Then on Friday 24 July at 12:00 noon, head over to room 32AB for IDW Publishing's "The Great Transformers/G.I. Joe Crossover". This panel promises giveaways and special looks at upcoming projects for both the Transformers and the GI Joe comic franchises, video games and movie prop memorabilia. In addition to this (and the queue to get some cool SDCC exclusive toys), you can also meet Transformers writer Simon Furman at San Diego Comic Con 2009, where he will be signing at the Dorling Kindersley Booth on Saturday 24 July between 4-5PM and Sunday 25 July 2-3PM. |

2005 Boards member Samus_NG has posted a higher resolution image of the upcoming (and presently, Japan only) Revenge of the Fallen Buster Optimus Prime. This is the same image we saw previously, but at a higher resolution so you can get a better look at the modified gas tanks which transform into a suitably big gun for Optimus Prime to wield, as well as the new "no faceplate" head.
Check out the image in all its glory by clicking on the thumbnail to the left. |

A variant of the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Scout class toy Scalpel has turned up at US Retail. This variant sees Scalpel with two different lengths of antennae, long (on the left) or short (on the right). There is no word yet which of these is the more common variant, but in my opinion, it is probably going to be the short antennae version due to the way in which they will fit better in the top section of the microscope when transformed.

GenZhao has also shared an image gallery of the Takara-Tomy Revenge exclusives Guardian Speed, and Guardian Air. Both of these were also available with Guardian Powered in Japan as a cross-promotion with Yodobashi/Bic Camera. iGear have posted their latest custom project on their blog - a half-sized version of the original Generation 1 Sharkticon, Gnaw. This new version copies the basic transformation scheme of the original, and adds in a few extra details for additional accuracy to the animation.
However, please remember that this is not an official Hasbro product and is therefore not necessarily subject to the same level of rigorous safety testing as an official Hasbro released Transformer would be. |

Although Transformers Animated is over, it lives on in the hearts of the fans who loved it - and those who poured their heart and soul into the show! Derrick Wyatt today posted a Transformers Animated design on his blog, based on how Revenge of the Fallen's Decepticon doctor Scalpel would have looked, presented in an Animated style! Click on the link above or the thumbnail to the left to see how he envisions this character looking in the Transformers Animated continuity.

Disguise Inc has released the perfect accessories to compliment the kid's Optimus Prime and Bumblebee dress up suits and voice changer helmets - Optimus Prime and Bumblebee "robot hand" styled gloves! For extra fun, an Optimus Prime sword is also available. Sadly no The Fallen mask is available to allow kids to recreate the "give me your face" moment. Actually, come to think of it, that might be a good thing!

2005 Boards member S250 reports that Transformers Revenge of the Fallen has sank Titanic's box office record in China. Titanic was formerly the highest grossing film at the Chinese box office, but Revenge of the Fallen has now taken in around $60 Million in China alone, breaking Titanic's record. This comes in spite of Chinese objections to the depiction of Shanghai in the opening scenes of the film.
Domestically too Revenge of the Fallen continues to perform well, taking in an estimated total of $339,208,000 at the US Box office in its third weekend, bringing the domestic total to $20 million more than the domestic takings for the first movie, although the overall total still stands at around $30 million behind the first movie's all time total gross. These figures come courtesy of Box Office Mojo. |

We have received the latest press release from the organisers of Auto Assembly 2009 about this year's show! The big announcement is that the convention programme has gone up on the Auto Assembly 2009 website - you can see many of the events confirmed to be taking place across the weekend, from kitbashing classes to art workshops with Nick Roche, colorist workshops with Liam Shalloo and Kris Carter. There are also several activities in the evenings of Friday 14 August and Saturday 15 August which are only available to full weekend attendees, and these include a disco and a script reading with Gregg Berger, Ian James Corlett, Simon Williams and participation from you, the fans!
Remember to book your tickets in advance if you want to attend - on the door tickets will be available but the exact quantities are uncertain so book early to avoid disappointment! The deadlines for bookings have been announced, they are August 3 for international attendees, and August 10 for UK attendees booking online. If you cannot attend the convention, you can still pick up a non-attendee package which includes a copy of the convention exclusive cover to All Hail Megatron #13, and a copy of Cybertronian Times featuring autographs from all the guests. If you decide to go down this route, the absolute latest to register for a non attendee package is August 12 at 9 pm. Find out more on how to register and what is taking place at the Auto Assembly 2009 homepage! |

Box Office Mojo is reporting the Transformers film has crossed the $700 million mark as of this point worldwide. The US gross is over $339 million and the foreign take so far exceeds $364 million.
This weekend marks the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, however, and it's almost certainly going to take the number one slot this weekend. Last weekend Transformers took third place behind Bruno and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. |

Some images of three new Minicons have been posted over on ACToys by ACToys member 913154555. The three Microns used for this premium are a blue redeco of Strongarm, originally from the Night Rescue Team, alongside an orange version of Wideload and a primarily "Autobot red" version of Sledge, both of whom were members of the Demolition Team alongside Broadside.
The exact nature of these Minicons is not known right now, but odds are they are part of a Takara-Tomy Micron Premium giveaway like the last few releases of the Classics series Minicons in Japan. |
