Also When ever i go to walmarts on long island there is only 2 pegs with figures..I mean its like a dying breed,,and on top of that i found a box with some figures in it and there must have been like Room for 5 figures tops in the box..so it does not seem like they are moving the figures out at high volume...

And people looking for Power Girl, she is seeing a mass-market re-release in wave twelve, so don't fret if you can't find one. |

Hey all,
Lo and behold I go into Wally World about 30 minutes ago and notice they're stocking toys. After weeks of scouting, they finally have Wave 10! They were still in the box, and the guy was cool enough to open it up for me and have at it. Was able to score Joker, Forager, and Robot-Man. Going back tommorrow (when the paycheck hits) for the others (if still available). I also have a sort of dilemma. One of the main reasons I got into this line was because it reminded me of the DC Super Powers toys, which I grew up playing with and still hold dear to my heart. I want to open the Joker and put him on display; I simply do not want to hock him for an easy buck on ebay. Do many of you also have this dilemma or am I in the minority on this one about opening your figures? Again, heads up AZ people, Wave 10 is out and about! |

Chicanogeek, where do you live? I would have to agree with deceptifocus. Also, the longer you hold on to them the more cash you might be able to get later on if you are pressed for cash. This happens a lot these days.

My WM told me they got 2 cases on order but the local warehouse is out of stock. The supervisor reassured me that this does not mean they will not get them in, it will just take longer to get. I can only hope that this is factual because I really do not want to pay $60.00 - $80.00 each most of this wave on EBAY or $350.00 for the set. Ridiculous.

Also, if you go back and the other Joker is still there, could you pick him up and sell him to me? Living in canada I can't go out and hunt myself. :/ Stupid Wal Mart. Am I the only individual who is having an infinitely difficult time finding ANY wave 8 heroes? I travel hours in all directions seeking wave 8 and have only been lucky enough to find a dr. fate.
Wave 9 was a luck find one Friday morning but I NEVER see wave 8. Does everyone else see these figures everywhere? Or do you think they will be trickling in as Christmas draws closer? |

Wave 8 was cancelled, so I doubt you'll find much. What stock was shipped out is all there is. :/

It has been fourteen days, 4 wal-marts and 36 trips later since I last posted...still nothing. But I did have my hopes crushed utterly when I asked one employee if they had any new ones and the guy said yes that he had just put them out. With my adrenaline pumping I hurried back there....only the find that they had restocked the same Wave Six they have had for months. WAVE 6!!!!!!
Frustration doesn't come close to what I was experiencing that day. |

I did the the late night toy run to a couple of local WMs while they were unloading their trucks within the last couple of days. These things are definitley getting grabbed up by the employees before they hit the sales floor and I cannot tell you how many already opened cases of Hot Wheels and other collectibles I saw stacked on the pallets as they were being brought out from the trucks that the employess were unloading. Shame on the employees for not giving the collectors a chance to get these and shame on the collectors who pay those ridiculous prices on ebay for them. I will let all of you in on a little secret if no one pays those high prices for them then the scalper employees cannot sell them and will have no choice but to return them back to the stores and they will quit picking up any future supposedly low production run waves.

Collectors are just as much to blame and those employees. I freely admit I am one of those got to have it right now guys because I really like the stuff but I also do not like being taken advantage of because there is some scumbag who works the nightshift at WM who knows that there are a lot of collectors out there who like to be the first ones on the block to have the new figures or even complete the set and will pay through the nose for them.
I wish everyone would just quit it. DCUC probably will not be worth as much 10 years from now, with maybe a possible few exceptions, as they are going for on Ebay right now and store employees are duping everyone into thinking that by grabbing them off the truck. Case in point 10 years ago an Elmo doll sold for $150.00 because it spotlighted on a talk show and it was around Christmas, if that were my asking price today for the same doll I would be laughed at. Face it fellow collectors these are not Super Powers figures and they should not be going for the same value as them since DCUC just got released 2 years ago. Some people aren't looking to sell their toys in a few years. Some just want the figures for the figures, not because they think they can sell them in a few years and make a profit.

I agree and I bet you are mad when you cannot find something at the store that just released last month so you have to pay to a high price to a scalper to get it. I have a great affinity for everything I collect old or new and I do not wish to sell them at all. A complete set of wave 10 goes for $300.00 - $400.00 on ebay. For the same amount of money I can buy the first Superman action figure for the 1940's. Think to yourself which is the genuine collectible. I am trying to point the difference between a genuine collectible due to antiquity and availability of items due to scalpers creating a demand under false pretenses. As a matter of fact I just learned that my local WM's sporting goods dept manager collects and scalps. So my dreams getting any wave 10 figures at retail at that particular store are gone.

Isn't there any way to let the store manager what's going on and ask them to order two cases for you? (for you and for me *grin*) I'm sure the store manager would have something to say about one of his employees breaking store policy, scalping product, and upsetting customers.

I picked up Batman Public Enemies at Target in Plano. They only had one set. Still no sign of wave 10 at WM.

I understand that Mattel has nothing to do with how Wal - Mart distributes it's product. You misread my post becuase it was directed at Wal - Mart. Also, the customer service hotline is just as lame as the live customer service you get in most of their stores. Trust me they were the only ones I called becuase Wal - Mart was the only one I saw responsible for this debacle.

O.K. here is the latest in my saga trying to get these things at retail. I found out from a very reliable source a few days ago that WM employees at one local store are grabbing these figures right off the trucks and either scalping or keeping them for themselves. This had prompted me to e-mail WM corporate because this is completely against their policy when it comes to collectibles. 2 days later, I received a phone call from that store's manager who told me she is well aware of this problem with wave 10 and other collectibles and that she has the Asset Protection Manager investigating to find out who is responsible for this and do what they can to keep this from happening in the future. I told her I do not have time for all of that and I just want the damn figures that I know have been shipping to all WMs since 09/20/09. She assured me that she will do a company search once she has the UPC # for wave 10 and see if any of them can be shipped from a different location. I am supposed to hear from her today and will let everyone know what happens next
