Yea or Nay? I’d say… yea. The design is actually pretty neat, and articulation is decent. Wild Chalice also has a decent amount of accessories for a SIC Kiwami Tamashii figure. Colors are clownish, but surprisingly not that bad in person. Origins Wild Chalice is the powered up form of Chalice from the Kamen Rider Blade series. In 2008, the SIC version of Wild Chalice was an exclusive figure, so this SIC Kiwami Tamashii version is a good chance to get a mold/color scheme you may have missed out on, or at the least, had no chance in hell of ever getting. Review First things first, the colors. I’m torn on whether or not I regret getting this guy on account of the colors. While Wild Chalice looks nice in these colors, the fact remains that these are clownish colors. Off hand, he’s got 5 main colors (gold, silver, green, black and red). On the one hand, the colors are very busy, on the other hand, somehow it all works. I just can’t decide on my feelings here. But to be fair, I guess I should say that against all odds, the colors don’t suck. Sculpt-wise, this guy looks really nice. Which is again, another surprising thing. The four main Riders in Blade were each modeled after a different card suit. Blade was Spade, Garren was Diamond, Leangle was the Clubs and Chalice was… heart. Yes, heart. But despite the heart motif and a Power Rangers style helmet, he somehow worked. Same thing with Wild Chalice here. Somehow, he looks good despite the inherent weakness of his motif. One thing to bring up though, is that he seems to have big ol’ eyes sculpted beneath the green face mask, which is pretty cool. Articulation is decent. Nothing spectacular but it gets the job done and is generally very well hidden. Wild Chalice comes with 2 extra pair of hands in addition to his default closed fists. He has splayed open hands and holding hands. He has his bow and a couple daggers. Overall, he has a pretty impressive array for a SIC Kiwami Tamashii figure. OVERALL I can’t really fault this guy. This is a solid toy despite its colors and motif. It’s arguably the best SIC Kiwami Tamashii so far, though as gateway toys, I’d still recommend one of the Faiz figures first. Pros: Looks surprisingly good, has good articulation and accessories count as well. Cons: Busy color scheme, almost clownish. Grade: B+ Last edited by Joe Moore; 03-05-2012 at 12:02 PM.. |
