A little moisturizer would clear that right up.
Kudos to Sideshow...that is just impressive. |

The classic version illustrated by artists like Jack Kirby or John Byrne was definitive for me, with much heavier brow ridge, big square teeth, and prominent jaw unobstructed by a chin guard. Maybe they're trying to avoid undue resemblance to Thanos. Too bad. That said, this looks impressive. Look forward to seeing it without VFX.

I may have to abdicate my self-anointed title of "Lord of Fussiness"...making way for you to occupy the throne!
All jokes aside, I also consider both Kirby and Byrne's renditions of Darkseid to be the most iconic versions for the very same elements you mentioned (especially the giant teeth - they added an extra layer of terror to the character). However, this statue more than does the character justice and is gorgeous to boot! Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 04-03-2015 at 05:03 PM.. |

Being fussy keeps me solvent.
I suspect that designers are reluctant to issue classic, iconic versions of favorite characters for fear of spoiling fans by giving them too much of what they want, in much the way that artists and filmmakers are trained to avoid 'beauty shots' so as to ration the spectacle. Have you ever been asked for feedback on some of these things as works in progress? Exactly. That said, this is a gorgeous figure. Last edited by Skoob; 04-03-2015 at 06:40 PM.. |

A fastidious nature is like unto a keen blade...making forthright and ambitious men (women too, roar! lol) into masters of their own destinies!
I like your thinking and believe you may be spot on regarding your point that creative talents intentionally hold back. I wonder if there is an inherent fear of achieving the 'perfect' expression. A fear born from the anxiety over what comes next... |
