Feels like Deja Vu. They already made a part 3 premium format figure, which IMO is more of a statue. Now we get a part 3 premium format statue. Ugh. Why is Sideshow so lame now? What happened to the 12" Horror figures? Also, part 3 is amazing! But why would you make basically the same figure/statue again? To save money? Makes no sense to me.

Companies don't hold onto licenses perpetually, unless they are the originator of the brand. The reason you're not seeing 12" horror action figures from them is likely because they don't hold the license to do so. A license to make statues doesn't equal a license to make action figures. As new people are brought into companies and modeling and sculpting techniques evolve and change, they like to revisit earlier characters to offer new takes on them. Also, with older items out of circulation, it makes good business sense to offer those characters as new items. Not all customers were around when the original came out and this gives newer customers and older fans alike the chance to get Sideshow's version of a character, in this case Jason.

This is so nice! The detail and design of the stand alone is incredible...I love the pose in the main pic too

The clothes and the base are fantastic! That base particularly is so detailed and amazing. The pose and that head sculpt are no good IMO. That neck turn just looks awkward, plus it can't be adjusted. The head looks a little small for someone that big that's wearing a mask. Meh, could've been so much better with a different pose and more proportionment head sculpt.

Is this the same Jason figure/statue/whatever that they teased on Friday the 13th recently? Or is it something else?

Not really digging this one too much. The mask is too small, is closer to the remake mask, and the pose is really awkward looking. The shirt color is wrong as well. Like someone mentioned above, the head is also too small, and the body should be a bit more lanky. I love the homage to part three on the base, but of you are going to do Jason from Friday 3D, then make it look like Friday 3D. It's like they took Richard Brooker's Jason costume, lost the original mask, and then threw it on Derek Mears.
Despite Sideshow making "high end" Jasons for a long time now, they have consistently gotten the details wrong, which is unacceptable given the price they want for these. I really wish they would give the attention and detail to them that they give their Star Wars line, or better yet, drop the license all together and let 3A or Hot Toys have a "stab" at it... I love their video previews. This one captured the campy feel. It's not perfect,no, and letting hot toys or 3A try sounds amazing, but for the moment it works for me. I'm biased though as part 3 is a personal favorite. It's all about that base...bout that base...no...accuracy..
sorry. |

I'm a HUGE fan of part 3 also, but this head is all wrong. It def reminds me more of Derek Mears. The right eye especially. The mask looks like the 4" Revoltech version. |
