Can't say that I like it yet.

The new Takara Beast Saga figs look far more interesting. The extra bits on the Minimate shown look like they'll interfere with pose ability quite a bit. The ability to swap out parts and create custom monsters sounds like a fun aspect to this line. That's always been part of the appeal of MMs, so I can see this line doing ok with hardcore MM fans.

I'll need to see more before I judge this negatively or positively.
I think what's throwing people off is this is a very serious take on it, when the original toyline was a very cartoony take.

I hate to be negative about this line, but I just can't get into it. Even with the goofy dice launching gimmick in the Beast Saga line, I'm supporting them because they actually look like Battle Beasts. To use the name 'Battle Beasts' brings a certain expectation with many fans about how the figures will look, and the DST toys don't capture that at all. They can say they wanted to do something original with the line all they want, but I really think they're just using the name to sell toys.

Yeah, don't want to jump on the hate boat yet but so far I'm not sold on it. The classic line had a heavy tech feel to the armor and the bodies were compact with wide stances, the pinched hips take away a lot of that squat/heavy dynamic for me. I'm still waiting to see the whole first wave but I'm more interested in the Takara release.
