Well after reading the thread about real life magneto it begs the question, what would you do for realz if mutants existed?would you be all weirded out and support something like a sentinal project?or would you be all into it and wanna help them or whatever?for real though, not like coolness factor, like real life.

Depends.
To an extent it is possible they already do exist, just not in the same form as the ones you see in heroes or read in comics. The world is a massive place with oddities showing up all the time that are capable of outside of the norm things. But in a Heroes/X-Men scale... I'd think of it still as I do any person now, but sadly the world as a whole would react much like the prison scene in Heroes since the tech for sentinels or similiar is a long way off from existing. At least in that scope. The reaction would be much like what's seen at the end of X-Men First Class. |

It doesn't. xD
Well the series doesn't really. It leaves off on one massive cliffhanger that's just mean, but sets up potentially the 5 years later episode in the first season. The prison thing just ends all weird. Been too long since I've seen it to remember. |

Oh did you mean X-Men First Class?
The ending action sequence has a military choice about dealing with a potential security and defense risk. I'll just leave it at that to not spoil others. |

Under modern day tech though, we could still theoreticly have sentinels of various degrees, but they'd be more akin to predator drones, and other modern robotics in the world. |

No specifics, he said something like which would suggest whatever they are capable of creating. Which yes a hyper intelligent mutant could create something of the comic scope, but under current tech without that, probably not.
The like real life line, is what sets the parameters too. I mean, we all know Sentinels and Mutants don't really exist, right?

if superhumans of any kind existed, the world would be a horrific place. Would you want to live in a world where everytime you leave the house you have to worry about getting a car dropped on you.

If I was the one dropping the cars, then it wouldn't bother me.

Ok,to be clear, the sentinal tech would be there in some form or another, maybe not 30 ft. robots but some type of military based force and creation specified to take out these "mutants" but try and picture this as if it were on the news right now.

Depends I guess on how you define mutant. Guy with wings? Not likely in the real world. But a person that has a body that naturally stores a small electric charge akin to static electricity but without any natural cause? Not common, but could very well be possible. But yup, he was asking how we'd react to them if they existed, and would we support any programs that would persecute and or track them to keep the 'normals' safe from what could be considered a safety risk, or human weapon. As for sentinels. Like I said above, in a weird way predator drones kind of already are a form of sentinel(or as the government would call them, "Sentinels of liberty"). So I guess you could say they do exist in one form or another. At least if you're talking about autonomous or remotely controled weapons platforms that could distinguish a target for extraction or elimination without risking man power to do it. Me personally, I wouldn't react to it at all. Just another day in the world. I probably wouldn't even blink other than a quick wow that's neat, okay back to toy hunting. It's been over fifty years since chrenobel (sp?)... so why the hell aren't there superheroes yet???
For that matter, it's 2011... so why am I not commuting to the Moon to get to work every day?!? Hell, according to Mr Spock, we should have already had a major genetic war by now! That damned Doctor and his blue box, mucking up time again... Well, to answer the thread...the only tragedy to me in the existance of Marvel's Merry Mutants, is if I wasn't one of them.

I think we all read the comics, watch the movie and collect the merch and secretly would take that supersoldier serum, or volunteer for a mutant experiment to become Wolverine. But in all honesty the real world isn't as glamafied as the comic world. Don't get me wrong there's 7 billion + ppl on this world and there's going to be some people/creatures that have abnormal "talents"/"abilites". But honestly if we've learned anything about watching movies, "unique creatures" draw the attention of the Government which results in a life of testing, and eventually disection. Especially if the military comes in and tries to use the source of strength for evil purposes and overall power. As long as the mutants pose no threat to myself and mankind, I'm down with chillin, but if they are like magneto and try to kill us for the greater good, then fuck em all, "release the Kracken"!
