Well so much for that. My Drathouse's site is working again and the only seats still available for the Thursday and Friday times are at the very front row of the theater. **** THAT!! We'll just walk into an AMC on that Friday morning and see it by ourselves without this bs hassle and then see it again with our friends another day. The one time I want to tickets to a movie on the day they go up and I get screwed.

The Phantom Menace had a good trailer because it played on the hype of a new Star Wars film after so long and it didn't highlight any of the idiotic stuff like Jar Jar. Of course then the final movie did have a lot of annoying kid appeal with young Anakin and Jar Jar. To add insult to injury Darth Maul, the face of advertising for the movie, was only there for like 10 minutes before he got cut in half. The only good stuff in TPM was either hardly there or dies before the credits roll which cuts them out of future films (Liam Neeson as Qui Gon Jinn and Darth Maul). I've said it before but there was honestly NO reason to have a character like Jar Jar to bring in kid appeal since Star Wars was already hugely popular with everyone who saw the originals and since most of them were parents when TPM came out they would've taken their kids to see it anyway. I was young when TPM came out and I sure as hell didn't need a cartoony frog/duck man to draw me in to see it.
Also, like I've said before if The Force Awakens turns out to be not-so-good then the two 'J's in J.J. Abrams name will forever more stand for Jar Jar. To your point about Maul, heard 2 guys on the radio discussing the new trailer & they said it would not surprise them if they just showed the good parts last night but most of the film is actually just a shot of Jar Jar giving the finger. The first SW toys I bought were the Transformers crossovers, I then bought miniatures of the characters to go with them (because the pilots were shocking and several important characters were missing).
A year or so ago I sold all that off because frankly they're shit, and bought most of the OT characters as Lego minifigs plus a Lego AT-AT. I've started collecting 3.75" versions of lightsaber wielding characters from the films (and original non-CGI Clone Wars cartoon which I still think is great), but only if they actually do something important or get some dialogue. How do you guys decide what characters to collect? I'm trying to avoid the temptation to get characters that appeared for like a second in the battle at the end of AOTC.

Is it just me or in the new trailer when Kylo attacks Finn does he sorta look like Jon Snow? Maybe it's the medium length black hair. all black clothes, and medieval style of his saber. That or I am way too into GoT and assume that anyone wearing black with a sword in the snow looks like a GoT character.

I hope everyone here was able to score their Force Awakens tickets today !
I knew tickets would sell out quickly, but the fact that so many theaters were sold out before noon today is shocking. The new pre-order sales record set by this movie is absolutely staggering ! I was able to snag my IMAX 3D tickets this morning before they sold out, so I'm pretty excited right now

I'm sure this movie's opening night will be insane with the lines of people, and probably still packed the next week or so too. That's why I always wait to see a movie in theaters, way less hassle and way less people. It worked so great when I went to see Guardian of the Galaxy that I was the only person in the theater.

When I went to see Ant-Man there wasn't much of a crowd but since they cut out the late showings there was a kid there who kept asking questions until about 20 minutes into the film when their dad acted like a responsible parent and told them to sit down and be quiet.

Yep I'm not going opening day. That is just madness!
I might see if I can get in a matinee in the afternoon. It does make sense that it is Chewie. He must save Han in the film living up to his Wookie life debt. |

Well I ended up seeing the trailer since one of my friends started to spoil it and it was freaking awesome. It didn't tell me about the movie, which was nice, but it showed some truly impressive shots with really great dialog thrown in. I am definitely excited for this movie a lot more than I was before. Not just that, but oh my god Kylo looks so damn badass in the scenes he was in. I pray to the gods he is not Luke in disguise because that would be the biggest cop out since DC making Barbara walk again. The effects looked great and the music was just amazing. I am hyped!!

i'm not that big of a fan of going to the movies in general.. i'd rather lay down on my own coach and drink my own drinks and be able to pause the movie. |

^^ Me as well.
I will also be avoiding the internet as much as possible during the opening week. I haven't even seen the new trailer because they like to put too much in them nowadays. |
