haha man, when i was typing my post above i'd placed the evo head next to my laptop fan to heat it up. totally forgot about it till your post, snake. shoved that sucker on the VC body and that does work. just a really tight fit.

I think I may try and do that, I wanted to buy that Evolution set soon anyway. The arm length on the VC figure is a little annoying but with a good head sculpt to take attention away from them it shouldn't matter to me.

Ha! That looks aces! Crossover appeal, right there, man.
You should make Sith Lord customs for Darth Doom and Darthhawk... Doom in all black would be sick- and Darkhawk is really there already. Maybe add on Vader's upper chest armor... A Darth Mandarin would kick ass- just paint his armor black and steel, add the yellow-red eyes. |

The sith evolutions pack is the best dooku..aka. Darth Tyranus..but i got rid of the soft cape and replaced it with the plastic cape from AOTC Darth Tyranus.

Also worth noting: ROTS Count Dooku (2005, III-13) - This one has the removable head+arms for his death scene in ROTS. Also a really good likeness, IMO. Can be had for much cheaper than the Evolutions one. 2010 Target Ex. Genonosis Arena 2-Pack Dooku - same as the Evo figure but with a "new improved" head. Any of those three are "good enough" by my eyes. I prefer the Evo Dooku though. |

So what about Luke Skywalker from ANH?
I think the best one out there is the Resurgence of the Jedi Battlepack. Resurgence Of The Jedi - LC - Battle Packs Research Droids Reviews - JediTempleArchives.com This set is great for a few reasons: -the Luke is great -the Obi-Wan is great -the R2-D2 is great the C-3p0 is not so great. But the other three are currently "best of" for those characters (old ben, luke ANH, R2-D2) If you just want the Luke, you can find it in the Blu-Ray pack from last year. Episode IV: A New Hope - SW [SOTDS] - Blu-ray Release Commemorative Figure & Mini-Poster Collection Research Droids Reviews - JediTempleArchives.com ...it also comes with the same Old Ben as well as a really good R2-D2 (this time with vac dome and a movable scope). Some folks have taken the Luke and customized it with TVC Death Star Luke to make an "ultimate luke" with soft goods waist so he can sit better. Haven't done it myself but it does look really good when the Resurgence belt is cut out properly and the soft goods skirt is added. Also worth noting, you can get a nice set of obi-wan's chest, a poncho, and the floppy hat with the TSC 2006 SAGA 036 Luke. Just add the rifle from the latest Landspeeder and you have a perfect ANH Luke. |

I like your list Shin, but with a few exceptions/notes...
When I saw this thread I assumed that people (especially non-SW collectors) are looking for a list or advice as to which figures to get that are: realistic/film accurate; best articulation/sculpting; best representation of the character. In essence, "Buy one and done." The figures you list are all great, but for those who just want to buy one version of the character, they may not be the best choices. FYI my collecting focus has been Star Wars since around 2003-04, and I only get "the best" versions of characters. Depends on whether you want a "Jabba's Palace" or "Death Star" version. This is best for the DS version. The new upcoming Luke is specific to Jabba's Palace, but you'll still need the black cloak from the SAGA figure. 100% agree. 100% if you just want one Vos. You'll need to venture to Comic Packs to get the comic accurate versions. TVC one is much, much better. TVC Cody is a little better in my opinion. I like the POTJ version as it's more accurate height/size to my eyes, but this one is cool and cheap too. Luke is much shorter than all the other pilots/actors in ANH!! Both of these you may want to head-swap with other figures (for a more "hero" Anakin, or for more accurate to the screen horns for Maul) These are all cool figures - Embo is one of my favorite new characters - but if you "just need one R2" or "one Yoda" then there are much better versions out there. |

I vote for the only two figures I have, that I want to keep.
Proto Boba, and that ultra sweet vintage Magnagaurd. Seriously, it's got some of the best articulation out of any of the star wars figures to date, at that scale. Not to mention it looks so damned cool. Last edited by yourfacehere; 02-28-2012 at 06:11 PM.. |
