I thought this could be an interesting thread. What did you all think of the new movie? How about Kylo Ren?

Chewie's raging out over Han's death (which could be seen coming a mile away) was awesome and but that roar as it happened was just...ugh right in the feels. Also thought Poe wasn't in it enough. Easily my favorite part of the movie. Hope to see more of him in the next one.
Overall not bad but hated the ending though. Waited the entire movie to see Luke and he's only in it for 5 seconds without one goddamn line of dialogue? Boo on you sir! |

Agreed about Poe. I liked him the best out of the three newsies. Shame really.
Agreed about Luke! I went to see this movie hoping to see the old crew back together, even if it was one last time, but now Han's dead (can't believe it still) and Luke had a small cameo and no words. Just ugh. I'm hoping Episode VIII will be better. I still greatly prefer the original three. |

No doubt the OT is still the best. I expected Luke to have a smaller role in TFA but I thought he'd at least be part of the final battle. Here's hoping that Episode VIII will be an Empire quality Star Wars movie and not *shudders* Attack of the Clones. I mean there's no way it can be that bad again right?

I really enjoyed it, the new characters are great, the old characters weren't used as a crutch, the story was fun and it just felt like Star Wars.
Having read Ford's opinions on Han over the years I expected as soon as he signed on the character would be killed so that came as no surprise, very emotional though. I think Rey was my favourite of the new three but they were all excellent.

I was actually really surprised by Han's death. I was familiar with how he felt back in the 80's, but I saw interviews on the subject now and in general he seemed to enjoy being back and had changed his mind.

That was only part of the reason for me. I had a feeling he'd only be in TFA if he got killed but as soon as he started walking toward Kylo Ren I knew he wasn't going to be walking away.
It was a lot more brutal than I was expecting though. I mean yeah he got stabbed with a lightsaber we've all seen that before but it was by his own son and then they couldn't even properly lay him to rest or anything since he fell into the void or whatever the hell it was he fell into. |

I was in denial when he was on the walkway. Then he got stabbed and fell off, and I figured he'd still be alive somehow. But then the base blew up.
The whole thing doesn't sit well with me at all. Nobody even mourned him afterwards. I cant stand how his relationship with Leia was handled. None of this is what I pictured when Return of the Jedi ended. |

Yeah Chewie seemed like the only one that cared about his death. Finn and Rey were shocked and awed sure but they had pretty much just met him.
And did Leia really need to even be in this movie? |

I thought it was enjoyable. Definitely not my favorite.
Also, did anyone else recognize that Snoke's musical theme is almost exactly like the theme that is played when Palpatine is telling Anakin about Darth Plagueis in Ep. 3? Coincidence? Last edited by Zorn88; 12-21-2015 at 03:20 PM.. |

Way better than the prequels but nowhere near as good as the OT though.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Particularly all the jokes poking fun at the other films. The whole part about dumping Phasma into the garbage compactor was amusing.
Some parts were definitely cheesy formulaic Star Wars though. The whole special spot that allows them to destroy everything was rather tiresome. Called the whole Han thing too. Still probably my favorite outside of Empire, which seems to be the general consensus from many comments I have read. |

she's in a trash compactor somewhere. Well not anymore. She escaped. Luckily she has a bigger part in Episode 8 and also signed on for Ep. 9

He was so happy to do all the press for this film cause he knew it was his last time in a SW movie,JJ gave him what George would not in ROTJ.

Hate that they had to go and nerf Phasma so harshly for the film to move forward. They pretty much crippled the character in five minutes. It's going to be extremely hard to make her a credible threat in any future films. She's always gonna be "that chick that got blindsided by a wookie and thrown in a trash compactor". smh
