How many years ago did they show him at SDCC? 4? Hopefully this means they are finally ready to move on him.

Usually when they show these style of previews, they're the next one in line.

I feel like she has to be around the corner because, as others have stated, that would be another body they could reuse the crap out of.

All i want to know is why these releases are so darn slow. Five characters in 18 months. Two every three months would be perfect. At the current rate it will take decades to get the full compliment of fighters. I'm guessing Smoke and Rain will drop before the year is out and new body types wont appear till 2019.

Can't wait to see all six+ of its separate-character repaints, because apparently MK is the laziest fighter ever made. I can see why they had to add all the gore as a cheap selling point.

You're not entirely wrong, the early game designs had a lot of lazy copy and paste elements. Mortal Kombat used blood and gore out of the gate to attract an audience. What you miss in this post is that MK was always ultra-violent (time-respectively) but in the first entry only two playable characters look alike so the violence couldn't have been masking this. Once the games made the jump to 3D graphics they started taking efforts to make the previously lazy characters more and more visually distinct. Just from a general gameplay perspective it's no secret that almost any other fighting game is more technical/advanced than MK and MK's draws have always been a more approachable playstyle and primarily/famously the violence.

At least mk palletswaps play totally differently. A lot of mk’s palletswaps were due to the tremendous amount of memory it took to store the digital actors. By changing the colors, they were able to make more characters without committing more memory to graphics. The gore and fatalities were added to give it that R rated 80’s Hong Kong film look. A lot of the early martial arts films had ridiculously exaggerated violence. Midway games wanted to attract college kids to arcades. To them, Street Fighter was a cartoony kids game.

I wouldn't say that. MK was the first game to use digitized actors, but the arcade hardware at the time was limited, so the memory could only hold a small number of those characters. Palette swaps were a solution to that. The history is pretty interesting if you look into it.

The main point being made was that memory limitations at the time only allowed for so much to be done. So in MK1 and MK2, they palette swapped the ninjas to add extra characters. As those memory limitations became less of a problem, those color swaps were given more distinct designs, especially as the series moved to 3D.

Yes, but both had very limited things they were doing. Narc, you fight waves of the same exact characters and the main heroes were palette swaps. Pit fighter had a small roster of playable fighter as well, and the digitization process was less refined than MK, with far fewer animations per character.
The main point being made was that memory limitations at the time only allowed for so much to be done. So in MK1 and MK2, they palette swapped the ninjas to add extra characters. As those memory limitations became less of a problem, those color swaps were given more distinct designs, especially as the series moved to 3D. Pitfighter sprites were 1/2 the size of the Mortal Kombat sprites, and also half the frame rate. I remember one of the 90's gaming mags doing an in-depth comparison of all the digital actor games, and comparing them. Pitfighter really was closer to Pong than anything else. Several other games had digital actors, but out of all the games that did that, only Mortal Kombat still exists today (and funny enough, they dropped the digital actors for mocap!). Also, when they dropped the palletswapped ninjas in MK3, having finally achieved the memory allowances to allow a larger selection of characters, the fandom screamed bloody murder! So "Ultimate MK3" was released to soothe the wounded. It's kind of like the Decepticon jets. Starscream, thundercracker, skywarp, dirge, ramjet, and thrust are all basically the same toy, some with minor differences, but they get the parents (or adult fanboys) to buy the same toy 6 times... or more, now with acidstorm and sunstorm added to the mix. So what some call "lazy programming", I call prelude to brilliant marketing savvy!

I'm glad the later games got rid of the fists on his green energy blasts, it was kinda weird that Goro was going all Shogun Warriors on players.

This looks amazing. Not sure about the price. $90 seems extreme to me for a figure. Kahn at least had a throne. This is "just" Prince Goro. I was expecting $70 or $75.
Will give credit where it's due... this looks a lot better than the Hasbro GI Joe Goro I had for 20 years.
