I understand these Saga figures are for kids but really, even kids today can get the ones the came out 5 or 6 yrs ago for cheap instead of Hasbro making more lame basic figures. Waste of money if ya ask me..........kids these days rather play with an ipad!

If Hasbro is going to experiment with ideas like a 5 PoA kid-focused line, a collector-focused 3 3/4" line (both of which they are handling relatively poorly, IMO), and a collector-focused 6" line, I'm glad that they are doing this sort of experimentation now, instead of when the Ep. VII figures are released. I am sincerely hoping that they are using this time to work out all of the kinks, learn from their mistakes, and realize what both collectors and kids do and don't want. They have about maybe a little over a year before the Ep. VII figures have to be sculpted and put into production, so I hope they use this time wisely and get their act together so that we don't get sub-par Ep. VII figures.
EDIT: At their best, the Clone Wars figures had great articulation as well as playability. They were great for collectors and kids. I, for one, wouldn't mind it Hasbro were to return to that type of figure (of course, without the cartoonish aesthetic, obviously, lol) after they finish wading through this little debacle with these little Saga Legends and rarely-stocked Black figures. Ideally, we'll get figures with Clone Wars-style articulation and accessories (for kids and collectors) AND figures for us collectors that are on par with the cancelled Vintage line. Hasbro has the opportunity to make a killing off of these figures when Ep. VII comes out, so I hope they are taking these figures and their designs seriously. If they fail with the Ep. VII figures, they deserve for Disney sell the license to someone else after its expiration. Last edited by Frank Richards; 01-16-2014 at 06:03 PM.. |

You're right there. The CW Anakin from the later episodes (that looks similar to his appearance in EPIII) is awesome. It could use a wee (and I mean wee using the hand gesture) bit more articulation but I wasn't complaining.

Yeah, "kid friendly"! Because figures with articulation are "kid unfriendly" right? God forbid a kid gets his hands on a figure with knee or elbow joints.

Hit the nail on the head. Elbow and knee joints are just too complicated for kids these days what with their smartphones and their tablets.

Since when do young kids care about knee or elbow joints? I'll never understand why "collectors" get bent out of shape when things don't cater specifically to them and them alone. Especially over characters that are or will be available in a collector friendly line.

I bought a couple of these for my 9 year old and my 5 year old. Both of them already have plenty of the older, articulated figures and almost all the CW figures. Both of them opened them and after 5 minutes came to me and said that "they couldn't hold their guns right."

These are the more kid friendly designs, featuring 5 points of articulation.
