I'm not a fan of how the front cover looks. I'm aware of why it is what it is, due to there being other ultimate T2 figures on the way, but I feel like this one at least could've used the movie poster.

A visible elbow peg? What kind of shit is this?
An "all-new body"? Nope. I just looked over my NECA Cyberdyne Showdown figure and it looks like they're re-using the entire upper body, and possibly even the head (which I originally suspected when I first saw the prototype pics). The only thing new are the legs, and they're probably just re-tooled from the original to add the articulation where it was lacking. That's why we're seeing behind-the-times elbow pegs; the Ultimate T-800 is based on an old figure. I'm not entirely disappointed, as the Cyberdyne Showdown figure remains great to this day, but it's still pretty misleading on NECA's part. But at least we're getting leg articulation, extra heads, weapons, etc. Overall, it's a decent deal for people who missed out on this figure previously. But I really hate the visible elbow pegs. I'm probably passing on this, as I already have the Cyberdyne Showdown and Battle Across Time figures. What, I'm going to buy the same figure but with leg articulation and then pose it on my shelf and not move it ever again? A 100% new figure might have enticed me, but not this. It does look like a kit-bash and not all-new. But since the only T2 figure I have is the Steel Mill Uncle Bob, I want this. The below-the-waist articulation on most of the previous Terminator toys was a disgrace.
Plus, unlike the ugly clam-shell packaging of old, I am liking this new Ultimate packaging. |

Eh, who am I kidding? I'll probably buy one as well, despite my previous bitching. I'm so damn weak. Quote:

Oh YEAH. Instant preorder!
But... between this or the Iron Man 2 6' War Machine, which is the better purchase? I have to choose between the two and it is the hardest choice I have ever faced! (If NECA puts the Ultimate T-1000 preorders up soon, I just might choose this over WM...) |

I'm such a bitch. I bought several of these. In-hand they're awesome, exposed elbow pegs and all. I ended up replacing all of my original NECA T2 figures...I was just going to get one, but I couldn't hang with the others not having articulated legs as well, sooo....
The only complaint is that the minigun comes out squashed (especially both handles) due to the way that it's packed. NECA has to find a new way of boxing accessories so that they aren't consistently ruined. Luckily I just used the minigun that came with my original Cyberdyne Showdown figure, which is perfect. Yeah, my heavy gunner Endo has a perfect minigun as well, but I had to dig through a bundle of 'em at TRU to find it.

As I think about it I steadily want the ultimate T-800 more and more.

Even though the original figure was originally released back in 2009, the sculpt still holds up today, elbow pegs aside (which really aren't even that noticeable since it's black-on-black). Plus the weapon and head options allow you to basically re-create the old-school Cyberdyne Showdown, T2 3D: Battle Across Time, and Steel Mill figures (although, of course, there's no body damage for the Steel Mill look, but whatever). Side-by-side with the old figures, the paint apps look at least as good, if not better. There's just the issue with the squished accessories, but I'm sure they can be sorta un-squished decently with a little effort. Now I can only hope NECA will give the same treatment to their old T1 figures...at least with the Police Station Assault T-800. He NEEDS leg articulation. I'd go for it, especially if you're an Arnold/T2 fan.

Oh, sweet! It's gotta be the Police Station Death figure, that's the most iconic look from the movie.

Agreed. He even killed Lance Henriksen! But hey, why not both looks?
