The Tech-On figures look surprisingly good IMO, the metallic colors really pop and the sculpt is great.

Interesting reveals. Generally underwhelming. Good Black Widow but they're milking that excellent Johansson facesculpt they've had the past 3 releases. But no Scarlet Witch? Would think they would, considering much like Black Widow, they have an excellent face sculpt already.
Vision doesnt wow in terms of paint and detail as compared to what we've seen from ML, so its "debateable" (difference is not the big).
Hawkeye is improved, just a bit tempted.

Tech-On is interesting but will probably not dip my toe in considering it makes me think some of these are Iron Legion units Tony created during a very Batman-esque paranoid state. Why not make a robot versions of rivals/enemies with some tech upgrades?

Japanese sculptors: Ya can't do real life faces. Just stop. Stick to your stylized faces. You're great with those. Perfect even.

With how Hasbro and other western companies are perfecting their face-print tech, I'm honestly not seeing any point in collecting these, outside of line-completionists.

There's always something off. Shape of the face, nose, eyes, mouth. Like you see the likeness, and from certain angles or if you focus on certain parts (like only the eyes, or only the nose and mouth, etc.) it looks great, but as a whole, they just never work.

I don't know what it is.

I think you need to collect more Figuarts and Mafex if you think they can't do good real life faces.

Even with Hasbro's face print tech, they still miss a ton. Infinity War Scarlet Witch, Crimson Dynamo BAF Black Widow, the upcoming unmasked Rescue, to name a few, look terribly inaccurate. To say nothing of how they STILL can't get a Luke Skywalker figure that looks remotely like Mark Hamill.

It's honestly best to mix and match lines, as both Bandai and Hasbro have hits and misses here and there.

Dwight from Hasbro, is that you??? I mean, Hasbro has some pretty decent "attempts" every now and then, Scarlet from the new D+ wave looks pretty close to Elizabeth Olsen, but then look at their Shang-Chi or their recent John Walker--a very generic "Asian guy" and "white guy". No real details at all that look close to the actors. Still I think to expect Hot Toys level is dumb, as these are all about 1/5 the size of a Hot Toys "doll".

Execution wise, Hasbro and the other western companies have made improvements and really only in the last I'd say 2-3 years have they really come close to what the Japanese imports have produced. I go for face sculpt accuracy and most of my collection is imports for a reason. Not going to shun a well-executed product that "ticks all the boxes" for me.
That being said SHF which has been in the past the most consistent in accuracy for this scale, however last 2-3 years they have dropped a notch giving other companies less of a gap to close but there isnt consistent perfection in this scale especially in terms of "realism."
Could get into a whole discussion especially with just using the example of Samuel Jackson likeness across various companies.

I'm pretty sure you never handled a figuart before, that Freddie Mercury face up-close looked awesome.

Hasbro perfecting their face-print tech? Don't make me laugh.

Nah, they're mostly correct. Hasbro's face printing is generally better. Though Tamashii has been improving lately. But the likenesses on the recent Falcon and Winter Soldier looked off and so does that Shang-Chi. For whatever reason the Marvel likenesses seem to be a problem.

I dunno. It's hit or miss.

Marvel's comic figures are 100% inaccurate in terms of faces. They just keep reusing the same face. Nothing like having an Asian character like Silk with a 100% white lady face!

Their 6 inch Star Wars stuff is massively hit or miss. Each Luke looks progressively like Mark Hamill's stunt double in drag. There hasn't been a single Rey that looks remotely like Daisy Ridley. The upcoming Mattel Ellie Sadler seems to put the Admiral Holdo figure's likeness to Laura Dern to shame.

But then they put out a Bo-Katan or Moff Gideon that looks very much like the actor.

Granted, Figuarts has problems as well. Their Captain Marvels look NOTHING like Brie Larson for example.

That is categorically untrue. They do often reuse faces and heads but a bunch of the figures do get new heads and that are accurate.

And we're discussing movie figures since that is what Figuarts' Marvel output mostly is, and there I stand by my original statement. The recent Sam Wilson Cap figure from Hasbro has a better likeness than the Figuarts Falcon.

Harley coming with absolutely nothing is ridiculous. WB is destroying their licensee's sales with this stupid bullshit.

I decided Im gonna pass on this Godzilla. Im a huge Godzilla fan and collect Monsterarts and X-Plus, but I dont buy every figure, and this new Godzilla isnt worth the money IMO. Not a big fan of the design, and the cartoon looks okay at best, so no loss.
