Just found the first wave at my local tru. The only thing i wanted was a bilbo as hes the only character I have.any attachment to. So I got him!
Sculpt: 7/10 His sculpt is decent and evokes the look of martin freeman pretty well. It just seems a bit soft and not quite as defined as some other figures ive seen from neca, dcu, and marvel, etc. The coat being soft plastic is great and the details in his clothes are amazingly minute. He also has a nicely sculpted scabbard of sting on his side. It would have been nice if this was removeable but its nice this way too. Paint: 9/10 Brilliant! Absolutely amazing paintwork everywhere. The paint wash makes him look like hes been out adventuring and thats hes been roughing it for awhile. The paint on his hair is very realistic. The only part that is odd is the hair on his feet. It looks like someone drew it on with a paint pen. I think it needed some actually sculpted hairlines and then a wash over and it mightve looked better. Articulation: 8/10 Neck: balljoint Shoulders: ball, socket Elbows: 90 degree bend and full rotation Wrists: full rotation Waist: nothin Hips: ball socket, just like some star wars hips. Knees: rotation above the knee and 90 degree bend Ankles: full rotation, and cut joint. This model is decent but the missing waist joint really kills the expressiveness of him. His slightly limited nature is in character however as bilbo never did any highflying kicks in the book. Accessories: 10/10 Bilbo comes with his trusty sword Sting, a pair jugs on a rope and a satchel. The satchel and jugs are neat and have some great paint work on them however all they do is.hang on bilbo and hinder.articulation. Sting is.the main accesory here. I was expecting it to.be the same bendy plastic we always see but sting is solid! Almost too solid in some cases. If bilbo falls sting could shatter easily as its so thin and solid. Good thing it stores in the scabbard on bilbos hip perfectly. Value 8/10 I paid 15 and a little extra for this at toys r us. If Bilbo comes out elsewhere he could possibly be cheaper maybe closer to 12$. If he is i would defibitely recommend picking him up if possible. Hes an awesome figure of a character i never expected to see as a toy. Overall id give Bilbo here 8 rings of power out of 10. Edit: oh poop if a mod can help change it to say, The Hobbit Bilbo Baggins review thatd be swell. My phone messed up. Last edited by Optimus_Prowl; 10-02-2012 at 11:55 AM.. |
