... as much as I'd love to keep this under my hat in the off chance that this ends up being a limited release and I want to cut down on the number of people who might know about it, it's ludicrous to think that SOMEBODY isn't going to mention this eventually, so here goes.
Do you like high quality toys? How about Metal Gear Solid? Have you, like me, had a perpetual wet dream since roughly 1998 wishing that someone would make a Metal Gear Rex toy? Ashley Wood (god bless that man) and Kojima have your back - No word yet on release date, price, or if it'll be sold through Sideshow or just through 3A's online store as of yet. From comparison shots the size will be somewhere around 15-17" tall, like the 3A World War Robot figures it'll likely be made from a combination of PVC, Cast Resin and ABS plastic, and the price will likely be in the range of $300-400. EDIT: In case people are coming from other places that have linked to this article, the pics aren't mine - They're originally from here: http://3atoys.hyperboards.com/index....d=1896&start=1 I'm just trying to spread the love Last edited by QuinJester; 11-13-2009 at 01:30 PM.. |

Ironically, I was already working on the FP for this based on a report from Gogdog.
I've only seen quotes of $200 for Rex so far. Would there be any indication it's going to reach $400? I realize that 3A is on the expensive side, but still.

That's insane! I'm on board, depending on how big it is. I'd like some scale MGS figures to go with it!

This is too cool. Might be blasphemy, but I like Ray better. Let's get a Ray to go alongside this!!

Of course. Actually, I had to take a moment and think about how big that would be. Did any of you ever see those Haloclix figures, and the Scarab? That thing was big as hell. Arsenal Gear would make that look like a shrimp even in that scale.

A 1/6 Arsenal would still be bigger than most bedrooms.

I hope it's not too soon, they need to announce it with a few months of time so those of us who aren't totally loaded can save up for it!
$400 sounds insane, but if I have a couple of months to save up I can do that no problem! |

I can't believe its almost 2 years later and still nothing else on this.
I'm scared for when it is released because it will be expensive as hell, it will take up a lot of space, and a lot of people are going to want it. |

I just saw this a few months ago on Kotaku.com, I had no idea this had been floating around for close to 2 YEARS!!
Now my hopes are almost crushed... why is it that Video Game Mech figures are so damn hard to get... I don't really even collect figures, statues or toys anymore and REX would be the only thing I would/could display with pride in my living room and even if I brought a chick over she would look at it with interest! Sadly I've been waiting for a Jehuty/Anubis Statue or Figure so long that I wouldn't even buy it because of my not having a house or room full of figures like I used to back when I was 16-17ish... and I even heard through Comic-Con news this year that they might finally be bringing Jehuty Figures stateside... makes me sick how long it took them to, probably to promote the Z.O.E. HD Collection coming to PS3 soon... |

I just got my 3AVOX newsletter and they had some new prototype images photos with more of the light up features. The images are also available on there online blog. They list Rex at 42cm tall, which is about 16.5 inches. It also lists Rex as on sale in Januray 2012.
Here is a link directly to their production blog: threeAonline/blog |

Holy hell, that thing looks awesome! I'm not much of a Metal Gear fan, but I do like giant robots and that looks sweet!

The railgun is also supposed to light up. I have seen test video of this. They also have Metal Gear Ray planned for release some time after Rex. I am definitely saving up for these guys.

Although I won't be buying it, another awesome piece made by threeA. There's an official thread here for anyone that is interested and this link could also be dropped there.

Oh Jeez, if it is I may have too seriously look into getting this. But, knowing 3AA it's probably going to be in the $400-$500 range with a limited run and sold out within days of it going up. They do great stuff but I've never been able to get any of their product yet.
I just found a picture of someone holding it over at Superpunch... http://superpunch.blogspot.com/2010/...reea-toys.html I'ts huge but I don't think it's 1/18th scale. Last edited by r3v3n63; 11-11-2011 at 09:55 AM.. |
