TMNT Series 2 Lootcrate Boxes Announced - Exclusive NECA Figures in Each Box

why do they do this to us

So the figures look to be this:

Crate 1 (Movie) - Danny Pennington
Crate 2 (Arcade/Video Game) - Armaggon 7″ Scale Figure
Crate 3 (Mirage Comics) - Mutant Shredder Clone 7" Scale Figure.
Crate 4 (Cartoon) - Super Don (Donatello The Dark Turtle) 7” Scale Figure.
Bonus for buying all 4 - Cartoon Series Scrag

All of the figures in these bundles seem pretty great, but I'm not going to lie, the "figures selling for up to $300" advertisement is just a bit tone deaf and really tacky.

NECA/ Lootcrate is straight up artificially inflating the value of their figure while encouraging scalpers at the same time... which happens to be all the things wrong with collecting right now.

Right? What the fuck is that?

Well, NECA certainly knows the scalpers are the driving force behind their stuff selling, since most of us never find their TMNT figures in stores.

Yeah that's a totally weird way to advertise.

I'm shocked we're getting a Danny figure, that's pretty great. I don't really have tons of interest in the other figures but I'll buy the whole thing rather than regret it later.

Am I correct that you don’t have to order each crate? You can select just the movie crate?

and i agree lame thing to say in the blurb. upwards of $300. stupid. and btw the way watch all of these figures go for peanuts because of all the resellers or wanna be resellers overbuying.

i went to buy the 4 crates + bonus just now and they will send you a welcome crate for $20, anyway one know whats in the welcome crate?

Yup, a few years ago a friend of mine got a lootcrate as a gift, it was full of junk Hot Topic couldn't get rid of in their clearance bins, so we assumed LC bought it in bulk and sprinkled it in haha

Well what NECA is doing is creating artificial scarcity. Hence they along with Target, who know fans want the products, are shipping short initial shipments.

Yeah, I am calling NECA out for its practices. It's a common sales tactic in the toy industry, and people should at least know some of the Psych behind it.

I cannot see myself subscribing to Loot crate but Danny and a Keno would be super enticing, but at some point, I must put my foot down and can't keep playing the scarcity/chase game.

The $300 is just telling you what happens if you wait. If you want it, buy it now. If you don't, no worries. Don't take it so personally. These are easily and readily available to you now, if you don't get 'em it's on you.

The Danny figure is so lame.

“Calling them out?” Really. Lol. Neca isn’t doing anything wrong. For years, Neca, and all manufacturers of product, order their product made in a limited number. It can be a batch of 4000, or a batch of 20,000. It’s completely up to the maker to make however many they want made. There is no law that says everyone who wants something gets it. Especially in a collectors product which implies a level of scarcity.

I definitely can’t fault them for making these toys in limited numbers. Danny wouldn’t sell at retail. Hell, most of Neca’s figures I can’t help but wonder how they sell, I’ve seen the “They Live” figures sitting on shelves with MONTHS worth of dust collecting on them. Regardless, Neca knows what they are doing, and I’m sure they are guffawing at all the fanboys “calling them out”.

Totally agree. I was at target the other day... 6 rat king/vernons, two triceratons, and 4 rock soldiers packs. All at ONE Target. Neca is doing a lot better at stocking the new waves compared to the first ones.

You have always had good luck at your store. Most of us are not as lucky. Mine are not stocked well, and the neca rep shows, just like the card reps.....dealers follow from store to store. Between my wife and myself we check a target 3-5 times a week. We go between 6 different targets. You seem to be an exception to what I see most people going through.

I am glad we are getting that Donatello. Thats a figure I wanted for sure and didn't think we would get or not get for a long time.

Conversely, I've seen one TMNT figure set at one target, one time, in the last year and a half.

At least this wave seems to have better figures. The bunny suit Bebop and Rocksteady were too gimmicky and the electrified turtle was a little under baked.
