Stashing does not meet the legal definition of theft. Even if it were to meet it unless the charged everyone who left merch at the register they didnt want or employees who put items back in the wrong place they would open themselves up to selective prosecution complaints.
And why focus on the person hiding something to?pay full price and not the person running around with a pricing gun. Oh, and deducting pay from someone because of a third partys actions is?a federal offense. While we're on the subject of price changing think they'll ever look into the slimy retail post xmas sale scheme? The major retailers have sales right after xmas so anyone without a receipt only gets credit for the sale price. |

Which will just contribute to Lego increasing prices because of theft. Thats why things are priced certain ways, you have to cover your losses somewhere. Dishonest people suck!

That said I also once took something that wasnt mine and was also spanked so hard I think i actually witnessed the space time continuum fluctuate right before my eyes. Never again was I tempted to steal regardless of the shiny space time lights lol. |

What a messed up guy. There's got to be something more than his love of Legos or money.
And I completely agree that article was painful to read at some points, due to the awful puns. Some of them were really stretching the premise (especially the "Wookie's bar" comment. WTF does that even mean?). Quote:
I agree with most of the Comments, its not stealing in any shape or form nor is it a crime to hide figures in other sections. But maybe sales assistants get pissed at people because of the Chaos caused on stock take day when they go to supposed designated area for stock count only to find all the action figures missing
But that's not the point of stashing a figure. Most people who do stash things do it with the intention that they will be back relatively soon to purchase said item. I've even heard some managers and staff say they let it happen because it usually means a guaranteed sale. Others will put it back immediately if they see you stash something. Or sometimes if the staff is facing shelves and finds an item that doesn't belong there, they will put it in a cart and return it to the proper section (along with all the other crap they found that doesn't belong there). I have heard of some collectors who will stash things in order for other collectors to find later. Personally, I think that it's great if you know who the other collector is and when they will be by to get the item. Otherwise, you could be keeping some kid from getting it. I'm not so much afraid of the belt, but the sound it makes when it clears the belt loops. It's the main reason to this day I take my belt off slowly every night.
