Screw Playmates, NECA needs to find a way to release these through retail with cartoon decos. They are so good.
Also: Great job on the photos Joe, awesome gallery! |

Great review of these two sets. I can't get enough of looking at these amazing figures. I like how you're the only reviewer I've seen to point out that the Shredder and Foot Soldier set use those old body molds that were originally slated for the classic comic Turtles NECA did some years back.

@Joe Moore you should recreate your signature with these figures. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw them.

OMG, these sets look fantastic. Shredder looks especially awesome. I'd love to get one...it would take very little paint to transform him into his cartoon version, as they didn't overdo the pixel effect.
Totally kick-ass photos, even by your standards, Joe. |

Thanks man. You'll be happy to know the only weapon that's soft is Donny's bo staff. It's a tight fit in his hands, so I can see why. But swords and such are all the more solid plastic.

For those wondering, here's Shredder and the Foot soldier compared to the unreleased ones.

Seeing these pics comparing the final figures to what was shown way back reminds me of people complaining back when these sets were revealed that it felt like NECA was doing a lot of effort for an exclusive but those in the know were aware these sculpts had been completed years ago and NECA was probably desperate for any chance to actually make them.

BTW, I don't sit around all day obsessing over how soft the accessories of various figures may or may not be. I swear! |

Thanks for this great review! What an amazing set and your photos are amazing.
I believe you can store Mikey and Raph's weapons on the sides of their belts. There should be a gap between the belt and shell/side to fit the weapon. That is how they did it early in the comics. As a request: I'd like to see a shot with the packaging opened (showing arcade buttons) using the background insert. While having the turtles battle the foot inside the box and coming outside onto the arcade buttons. Thought it would make a cool "coming out of the game" look. Thanks for your time and enthusiasm reviewing this set. Cheers |

I came to the site today to ask about this set and lo and behold here's this gallery!
I have an opportunity to buy both sets for $280, not cheap, but not a bad price either. What do you guys think? |

Considering the exclusive nature of the sets $280 doesn't sound too bad I guess. If you really want them I guess I'd say go for it as long as you're not breaking the bank doing it.

That's more or less what I've been thinking...unless there's some breakthrough and NECA can re-release this in a few years, it seems like this will hold it's value if I don't wind up liking it, but I have a feeling I will love it haha.

It would be cool if they could re-release these without the video game pixel deco

It's funny I used to play this game all the time, for some reason I thought Turtles in time was the only game.
I would love regular release too. |

TMNT is my #1 jam so I'm probably going to have to take out a loan and get these.

that's why I decided against these. I know its only a matter of time before NECA or a KO group offer non-pixelated versions. I have the cartoon deco Neca KO's, and those feel just as good as the official Mikey I had.

NECA probably won't re-release them in non-pixel decor unless it's another exclusive. Playmates is c-blocking them in retail.
