So this basically exemplifies the problem with this movie, or at least part of it (as it looks to have many).
That iconic look of the Falcon? Yeah, it didn't always look like that, and we're going to show you how it got to look the way it does in the movies you actually like! I mean, that's totally what you want to see, right? Right? Guys? Why did our awful movie flop?

Seriously. Han even says in A New Hope he made a lot of personal modifications to the ship, so of course it's going to look different between when he first got it and the time of the original trilogy.
I hardly see that as a negative light on the the Solo movie. |

Yeah! Now if you said notoriously bad director issues, massive reshoots and a reportedly general sense of chaos on set sure. But bad visual design? Come on, it's not like any of the other Star Wars movies included sub plots no one cares about with bad cgi the distracted from the focus of the main story.

Includes detachable space coffin for putting the corpse of the once beloved Star Wars franchise inside and launching it into the void.
It's too bad the productions costs have risen so much they can't make a better Falcon. |

Just got myself an A-Wing from Last Jedi thanks to Toy'sRus clearance (RIP )and the plastic was very white, but a bland white I'm not used to see on Star Wars toys.
Looking at the pics here, this Falcon seems to share the same kind of plastic. I hope it does'nt look too cheap on hands. Otherwise, I'm disappointed to see the step back from EP7's Falcon, as there isn't much room for figs in the cockpit or the "lounge" at the back of the ship. Light-ups look great though, but I refuse to pay 30$ for a bracelet sold separately to enjoy the full features.

I actually really dig how this looks. It might look a bit too new for when this takes place but the over all concept design really is slick. I may just have to get this one. Hope they do some diecast of this version of the Falcon.

I don't really understand why they made the Qui-Gon/Maul set, just how many times are they gonna redo those two and are a lot kids and fans clamoring for 5 POA versions?
The gunner station/laser cannons are a nice bonus for the Solo sets. They reship Rose and the droids, but none of the sets that wound up Entertainment Earth exclusives? And there's the bone-headed move that wave one only has one SOLO 2-pack. Maybe that's why the Episode 1 set, Hasbro's faith in Solo is so low. |

No, he definitely has a point. Brightening up the interior of the Falcon and sticking some random junk between the mandibles really does seem to betoken a lack of faith in the ability to successfully draw the audience into the story without constant, flashy reminders that everything in the film is taking place before ANH, as if Alden Ehrenreich’s relative youth wasn’t enough to drive that point home. That sort of clumsiness is also on display more generally with the set direction. “Ooh, it’s ‘The Dark Times,’ so let’s filter out all the colours and shoot half the scenes in heavy smoke or fog!” It’s reminiscent of some remarkably stupid passages in James Kahn’s original RotJ novelisation where he starts waxing lyrical about how Imperial technology is damaging the environment of Endor’s forest moon (Imperial tech apparently being powered by raw EVIL), and yet the Rebel vessels, which are technologically-indistinguishable from the Imperials’ so far as anything in the movies can suggest, apparently flit benificently about on “gossamer wings.”

Here's a little history lesson about the Falcon. In 1986 Kenner created a story, characters, and vehicles called The Epic Continues. Ultimately declined by LFL over time more has come out about the would be post ROTJ toy line.
They designed a pod to attach on the front of the Falcon. Called it the cargo handler. I for one love that they went back and gave this old idea life. |
