Yeah and I thought his helmet has another reference, "born to ill." They literally just dropped first letters off of certain words.

At least Atsy and Hux are unique figures!

He hardly had any screen time! They killed him off then BOOM he's there for the end battle. It's not like he was an established character and we wanted him to live.

They didn't kill him off. Finn thought he was dead, its not the same thing.

As did the audience. He might as well have been dead.

Really? I didn't. At the multiple screenings I've been to no one seemed surprised when he turned up alive. We didn't see him die and we didn't see a body, if that doesn't indicate the character is still alive I don't know what does.

Also between trailers and behind the scenes footage we knew he'd return in his flight suit at some point in the movie, it actually made the fake out death kinda weak because it was obvious he wasn't really dead.

I think that is just the lighting of these high-res pictures combined with the shinier quality of the plastic used for the head. To be fair Domhnall Gleeson's hair isn't RED it's very golden-red and in certain lights does come off as blonde so the toy isn't terribly off.

Yeah if you somehow managed to avoid any trailer for the movie for several months, never looked at any of the toys (which all sported more looks than just the jacket and featured his black and orange X-wing in almost every line but not the movie's opening scene), or ignored the blatant TV/Movie logic of no-corpse-still-alive then you could figure him dead just like Finn did. It was a rushed/lazy return though for sure what with the "yeah yeah yeah I'm alive but let's not look into that too much."

Love Asty's look.
And I think Poe has a lot of potential as a cool Ace-style character. And it's no secret that I like Oscar Isaac a lot. Honestly his sudden reappearance was the only part (of many things left unexplained) that I felt needed more explanation. It reminded me very much of the Rohirrim showing up at dawn in Two Towers, not having been seen once since the beginning of the film. I don't think any of it would've been as jarring had Poe not been promoted too much like so many other new characters. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the new characters, so much so that I'm willing to put the old in the "toy box" for awhile. I hate to be a nit-picker but in the write-up you say that his gun is the same as wave 1 Finn's gun but it is actually the gun that came with Poe in the Target two pack.

Nope that's a valid point, not a problem. Fixed. Guess at some point I mistakenly swapped those weapons on the shelf and didn't think to check the original shoots. Whoops!

Yay, another useless figure from Hasbro! Why not more on screen characters??? The only reason I would buy this Trooper is to pose him with TR-8R and Phasma blasting him in the face!

The tie fighter pilot is one of the best so far.

I think it's also kinda funny that the OT TIE pilot is one of the best made and well done figures from the line as far as having an excellent and accurate look with sculpt and paint. These bad-guy-pilots that are barely physically present in the movie get such cool toys!

To my knowledge the wave with the TIE pilot and Yoda was never distributed very well. I only ever found that wave at a Walgreens and a local grocery store.

Same with Darth Sidious and Vader, at least around here.

Hold up, Vader turns to the light side at the end? Talk about spoiler alert! For real though, I dig the electric head. I wish more of the figure had that effect though.

Yeah, it was a cool fig, fun to pose up the end scene. But just chillin on the shelf makes no sense.
Really want that head sculpt in proper black. The original looks doofy 99% of the time. |
