The AT-AT from Star Wars is most probably my favorite Star Wars universe vehicle. I've been considering picking up one (or two) eventually in toy form, but I was wondering if people could give me some input as to how many variations there are of them (like 80's, reissue if any, etc) and how good they are as a toy/display piece.

It's my favorite SW vehicle too, but sadly I only own 3 versions now. As for how many are out there, here's a partial list to get you going:
3 3/4 figures' scale AT-AT (Original release) 3 3/4 figures' scale AT-AT (Special Edition Reissue) 3 3/4 figures' scale AT-AT (new mold, more accurate sculp) Micro Machines AT-AT 3" Titanium AT-AT (and the all-black repaint) AT-AT (6"-scale SW Vehicles line, came with mini-figures like the SWTFs but they couldn't transform. I can't remember the exact name of the sub-line) Star Wars Transformers AT-AT (and the Endor repaint) I'm sure I've missed some, but that's all I can remember right now. EDIT: Oops, forgot to tell you which ones I like. As for display pieces, the Titanium version rocks, as does that other 6"-scale one whose line I can't think of at the moment. It's about the same size as the SWTF version, if that helps. For more presence/scale/functionality, go with the new mold version that's in-scale with the regular SW figures.

I have the Endor repaint that was released at toysrus like a year or two ago. The electronics are all stripped out and your left with a pretty boring toy. It's cool to look at but I only touch it to dust it. Come to think of it I would totaly sell it if you want it.

Also do not forget the MR AT-AT. That piece was and still is a monster. The good news is the price on this piece has dropped.

The MR AT-AT ver.1 is definitely my fav. Sadly I don't own one, but it's still amazing. I own the first re-release of the walker. Never get rid of that bad boy.

I agree....MR walker rocks! I wish I had one as well but I will live with the Hasbro version for the time being.

Good pick!
I knew I had missed some. It's such an iconic image and immediately associated with Star Wars, along with the Millenium Falcon and the X-Wing. Although, given the success of Clone Wars, I'm thinking that list is going to get much larger soon enough.

*Does quick Google search, is floored, goes to eBay...*
Wow. The one I see on eBay right now is going for $1000 BIN. For that price, they better have real live Smurfs dressed in Storm Trooper gear working that thing! |

Actually the $1000 bin is about average for that piece. There's 2 versions of it too; I've always preferred ver.1 with the mirror base instead of the fake snow stuff. Plus version 2 is weathered and battle damaged.
