Fans of Takara and now TakaraTomy's take on Transformers can talk about the toys here.

Masterpiece Convoy MP-10 First Images - Transformers News - TFW2005
OHHH HOOO FUCKKK YEAAA!!! Now I'm probably exception to the rule, because I LOVE this design. I think Hasui Shogo AKA Mr. Starscream, knocked this one out of the park. This new MP Prime looks beast, AND for the 1st time, can STORE his rifle ON HIS BODY in bot mode(shit...wait...Classics Prime can do that too)! ANYWAYS The human driver element, SPIKE, while small, adds a TON of playability in my eyes. Kind of like how I see a Diaclone toy as a better figure than it's Transformers counterpart, even though the deco and driver is about the only difference in most cases. I froth at the mouth looking at the images of Prime in the trailer in repair bay mode. So much fun! Too bad the damned thing is so pricey!

Yea it looks fantastic. I really wish I didn't buy faith leader now. I agree on the price. Wayyyyyy to steep. How much was MP-04? And it's bigger? Will the trailer fit deluxe size cars like MP-04 fit alternators? Maybe the timing is off because I'm definitely getting the Optimus model kit. Can't pass on that one.

I am going to hold out for a potential US trailerless release. Straight up G1 trailer does nothing for me, and he is a pricey prime.

So what's in this that makes it retail at $200+ ? Spike? Is it a very limited run?

And is this what the final product will look like or are they going to tweak it a little more?

Rodimus is confirmed as a US release later. Prime without trailer...I think it's possible as I have no doubt in my mind they will repaint this guy like none other.

This would excite me... if it did something that the regular MP Prime did not. And unfortunately, this really fills no holes in my collection, and costs an absurd amount to do so.
If Hasbro were to release this at like, $50 or below, I'd be happy to pick it up. As is, I already have the original MP Prime to go with my alternators and MPs (Who's actually in scale with them. It's the Seekers and Grimlock who're not), and this one is too big to serve as a "classics" G1 Prime. If he were about the size of a voyager, then I'd be more interested.

I'd get excited if the trailer and roller were sold separately. I really don't need yet another MP Prime in my collection.

Do we know yet if this Masterpiece Optimus Prime V.2 is the start of a new scale for the MP figures?
And should I even bother to buy the previous MP's if Takara is changing the scale? |

No, Starscream was the start of "the new scale," if you wish to call it that. So pretty much, the second new mold MP started it. They produced Megatron as large as they did so he could stand up next to Optimus (And probably not be as easily confused with a real gone, since he is hilariousoy and rediculously oversized). But aside from Optimus who was basically ment to be scaled to the Alternators/Binaltech, and Megatron who was paired to Prime, they're all in the smaller robot size. Seekers, Grimlock, Rodimus, and now the new Optimus are all pretty simular.

Anything is possible. But he's already had 2 releases. The original takara blue and then the white and red. (both hasbro and takara) The hasbro one is weathered and much cheaper. I have a hasbro one sealed if your interested.

I suggest getting mp ghost Starscream. He's been on sale a few times at online etailers and even if takaratomy makes a mp screamer 2.0, mp ghost starscream is unique and personally, I think it looks awesome

Do you think they will continue the classics/generation/reveal the shield toys after the seriously poor distribution job this year? There's a couple of figures I'd like to complete the original autobots, like a delux trailbreaker. If they made it what do think the modern vehicle would be for him?

Generations will be cancelled, dispite what Hasbro says. They assured us that both Universe and Animated would continue to run along side of RotF, and they had no intentions of cancelling them. They both got axed well in advance to make sure there were more movie toys. Generations is gone. Warpath and Thundercracker were the last scheduled figures, and no others have been announed. Probably and hopefully some new line with a simular theme to Universe and Generations will come back next year. But for the rest of this year, don't hold your breath. We've got DotM, and while it may get renamed, it's not going anywhere. And then in the fall, a TF: Prime line launches, so with both of those, Hasbro's not going to have much time for, or care about running a line that has no media support, like Generations.

Reveal the Shield was movie line. It was the evolution of Hunt for the Decepticons. Basically, it was filler until DotM. So it's toast.

Wait til botcon next month where hasbro will reveal their plans. RTS was a clever way to sneak in mostly Classics in what was seen by retailers to be the tail end of HFTD. As for Generations, from what I've heard, it might go on for a while longer than anyone thinks. Meanwhile DOTM seems like it will be a smaller movie line.

You guys remember the first two movie lines and how the Classics and Universe lines just got pushed under the table? As much as I'd like a couple of movie toys, I prefer my classic G1 inspired toys. |
