Entertainment News Website Canoe has posted an interview with director Michael Bay regarding his upcoming movie Transformers 4. There isn't much detail, however the director revealed that Transformers 4 will be shorter than the previous Transformers movies with a run time of 2 hours and 7 minutes.
The original article is in french but 2005 Boards Member TylerMirage translated the quote with Google Translate: "Two hours 7 minutes, which I think is a good formula, which gives enough room to maneuver." Shooting begins in five weeks in Hong Kong and will continue to other places in China, Detroit and Chicago. What do you think of this decision? Good Or Bad? Share your thought with fellow members on the thread associated with this news post. |

Rounding out our gallery coverage of Masterpiece Soundwave and his cassettes, here are galleries of Masterpiece MP-16 Frenzy and Buzzsaw. Frenzy and Buzzsaw are both redecos of the previously released Rumble and Laserbeak, just as they were in Generation 1 - this of course means all the good stuff going on with those two toys carries over with these two. Buzzsaw in particular is a great deco - I personally really appreciate the orange beak over the flat grey one on Laserbeak. As for Frenzy - call him whichever you like, this is the iconic Decepticon who Soundwave would dispatch to cause localized earthquakes to shake up his opponents in the Sunbow Generation 1 cartoon.
Masterpiece Soundwave is getting a release later in the year in the US, and he'll be coming with all five of his cassettes - Laserbeak, Rumble, Ravage, Frenzy and Buzzsaw. The individual Japanese releases are worth the price of admission in my eyes - the US release, with a very reasonable price for the six Transformers will certainly be a must-have for many fans. Open the links below to check out the galleries: Transformers Masterpiece Buzzsaw Transformers Masterpiece Frenzy Also check out the rest of the galleries posted over the last two days - go here for Soundwave and Laserbeak, and here for Rumble and Ravage. |

TFYuki has updated his Twitter photostream with some in-hand images of the next releases in Takara-Tomy's Japanese Generations line - the Autobot and Decepticon Data Disks. Soundwave and Blaster's minions will sport metallic finishes on their Japanese outing, and they also have more paint apps on balance than their US counterparts - notably the fists on Rumble, Frenzy, Eject and Rewind are now painted distinct from the rest of the arms.
Check out the images and see what you think. |

By way of a Japanese image board, we can share this magazine scan with you which gives a look at the Transformers Go! packaging. It's very blue! The Deluxe class figures are carded, with primarily blue backer cards other than a black boxout in the top left, giving the collection number. The banner inside the blister pack is also mostly blue, with the faction logo at left and a photo of the alternate mode at right. The packaged sample shown, Bumblebee, is packaged in robot mode.
Voyagers are packaged in window boxes, again there's a lot of blue but also some gold bordering around the packaging window. Once again the bottom right has a photo of the toy's alternate mode and the left has the faction symbol. Check out the image attached to this post, at left. |

SXS Toys has released color images of their accessory set for Masterpiece Optimus Prime / MP-10 Convoy Version 2. The set incorporates a fuel hose for Roller as well as a version of the rocket pack worn by Optimus Prime in the Generation 1 episodes "More than Meets the Eye Part 3" and "Dinobot Island Part 2", the latter episode providing the color scheme for the piece. There are two versions - one with a blue fuel hose and full silver rocket pack, and one with a silver hose and a black-and-silver rocket pack. Check out the images after the break. Please bear in mind this piece is not an official accessory set and is not licensed by Hasbro or Takara-Tomy.

Site Sponsor TFSource just sent us some photos of prototypes for the highly-anticipated Masterpiece figures Prowl and Streak! While they are a bit on the small side of things, we get an additional look at these up-coming figures in both modes. While we have seen the attack mode feature and the missile launchers before in a previous news article, these photos tell us that TakaraTomy is surely marching on with the Masterpiece line! Ol' Quaddy here distinctly remembers the excitement seeing the first Masterpiece prototype of MP-01 Convoy along with Binaltech Smokescreen, and these evoke much the same excitement!
If you haven't secured your preorders for these two figures, be sure to jump on over to TFSource to make sure you get yours! Prowl can be found here and Streak can be found here. |

Site sponsor Robot Kingdom has updated their preorder listings for the Transformers GO! combiner figures. Original listings of these figures had fans perplexed on what they might be or how they might combine. Robot Kingdom has been kind enough to shed some light on the future releases. Shown here are G-01 Kanzen (The police Car), G-03 Ganoh (fire truck) and G-02 Jinbu (Jet). The three figures can combine by one robot becoming the legs, the second a torso and the third bot becomes the head, shoulders and arms. One might compare it to Robots In Disguise Rail Racer with Transformers Energon's swapability. Others will definitely see the designs as a homage to Brave as well.
Also revealed is G-04 Gaidorah, a Transformers Go! redeco of Beast Hunters Lazerback. Click on the title bar to check out the images of the figures. |

Hasbro held its 2013 1st Quarter Financial Conference Call yesterday and TFW2005 staff attended live online.
During the Financial Statement reading, Hasbro representatives said: "Boys Action Battling games, including Angry Birds, Star Wars and Transformers initiatives, continued to resonate with consumers nearly doubling revenues in the quarter. Also within preschool our Playskool Heroes line is leveraging great brands, including Transformers and Marvel, to deliver growth. Having launched less than two years ago, Playskool Heroes has performed extremely well, growing revenues and gaining share. Finally, in 2013, we've completely reinvented Transformers across platforms, including a television series distributed globally, online and mobile games, licensed products, and a full line of new toys based on the all new Transformers: Beast Hunters theme." At the very end of the call; during the Q&A session, a question was asked regarding the overall financial performance of the Transformers Brand in the 1st quarter of 2013: "If I recall, in first quarter last year transformers had [eroded ?] in lesser rate than we typically think of. Can you give any number on how Transformers did on a second year off a movie; this time vs. the last time?" Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner delivered the answer: "Transformers in this quarter is relatively flat. We are transitioning out of what was last year's mostly an entertainment-lead, television-led business. We are transitioning into the whole Transformers: Beast Hunters re-imagining with a new TV Series which launched just now and products rolling out throughout the year. Transformers, as you know, is a strong international brand for us but we saw a roughly flat business when we rolled out from one product line and into another." TFW2005 Boards Member doomboy536 has posted the Hasbro 2013 1st Quarter Financial Statement over at the thread associated with this mail. Take a look and discuss what you think will happen in the future. |

A new brochure advertising Transformers Go! and its Japanese original characters has begun to be distributed. The brochure shows silhouettes of the three samurai characters Kenzan, Jinbu and Ganoh at left along with their combined mode - and at right, silhouettes can be seen of three more characters, thought to be the ninjas Gekisomaru, Hishomaru and Sensuimaru. Behind them is a second shadow, which is thought to be a combined mode of the three ninjas.
Moreover, the flyer advertises that a Transformers Go! animated series will be made. There's no other news on this as yet - it seems that, according to information posted by Snakas, the full report will be published in a June 1 kids magazine in Japan, quite probably TV-Kun. The original source for the flyer, as best we are aware, is the Twitter of noiseblaster. The flyer is expected to be officially distributed on Friday the 27th when the Transformers Go! toyline launches in Japan. |

The latest edition of Previews comes with an unexpected surprise - a new Cyberverse Commander toy is revealed. A redeco of Trailcutter, Huffer joins the Transformers Prime Beast Hunters series! He features his distinctive orange and purple deco, which looks quite fitting on the mold. Furthermore this corroborates the mysterious Huffer listing on the Hasbro Transformers site's Shockwave's lab game, which had a picture of Power Core Combiners Commander Class Huffer.

Michael Bay and Megan Fox buried the hatchet and became professional friends again. She even got the part of April O’Neil on his upcoming movie Ninja Turtles. However, reporters constantly asked Mr. Bay whether Megan Fox will return to the Transformers Live Action Movie Franchise. He finally gave an answer.
"No. Because it's a totally different story," Bay continued to explain. "It's with Mark Wahlberg and his daughter. It's the same [world]," Bay clarified, explaining that 4 will not be a complete reboot. "You have the three movies, but there's a reason why there's a new cast. And it's explained very clearly when you see it, and it's going to feel natural. So it's not like we're starting over or anything like that." We are yet to hear the name of a newcomer as the Director promised during CinemaCon 2013. |

In a simple, yet effective release, Takara-Tomy have unveiled a papercraft ramp for the BeCool line. Since the toys in the line rely on bumping into things to transform, this ramp is a natural selection for the line. It is due to be given away at Bic Camera stores starting May 7th on a first come, first serve basis.

Thanks to a posting on Weibo, we have a new image of IGear's upcoming releases in their popular Mini-Warriors line. Shown in this picture are MW-05 Cogz, MW-06 Duneraker, MW-07 Veer and MW-08 Bushwacker in vehicle modes. To be more clear, those are unofficial versions of Gears, Beachcomber, Swerve and Outback. We get a good look at Veer and Bushwacker's weapons in this picture (Veer has a tommy gun!) and the picture indicates these are in production and should hopefully meet their expected release date of next month.

The packaging is the same style of blue backer card as the other Transformers Go! releases - for the EZ collection the series name (EZ Collection) is written in English over a silver border at left and a large piece of artwork of Generation 1 Optimus Prime is on all the cards at right. The reverse features a lineup of the toys in the series along with a "Start... change... finish" style photo sequence featuring Optimus Prime.

VAN GUARDIAN
ALLEGIANCE: Heroic Gobits FUNCTION: Chief of Security “You honestly think you can get past me?” Profile: Graduating top of his class from the Heroic Gobit Academy, VAN GUARDIAN was immediately assigned to important security duty on his home world. When the war broke out and BIKEMURDER raided GOBITRON, VAN GUARDIAN and his team were captured only to be rescued by CAPTAIN-1 and his crew. Impressed with how long he was able to hold up against almost impossible odds, CAPTAIN-1 recruited VAN GUARDIAN for his Earth team as the Gobit war continued to rage on the other side of the galaxy. Opting for the new generation modifier design his new body is now ready for whatever battle may come his way. Many younger Gobits and academy students look up to him. Smart, tactical and courageous, VAN GUARDIAN is one talented bot. Abilities: Robot mode flight and high powered laser blasts from his fists which are standard with almost all Gobits. With his new body, he now has an optional high impact battle mask and SHOCK GUN for when he needs to protect his fellow Gobits. He also possesses a unique ability to detect close by enemy scanner devices keeping him always a step ahead of the enemy. Weaknesses: If VAN GUARDIAN has one fault it is that he is very arrogant. He sometimes thinks the battle is won way before the final shot is fired and that tends to get him in some serious situations. Being revered by so many Gobitronians has gone to his head. Keep an eye on this spot for the 2nd TFcon 2013 exclusive profile reveal before TFcon 2013 registration goes online May 1st at 9am. TFcon, the world's largest fan-run Transformers convention will take place July 26th to 28th, 2013 in Toronto, Ontario at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre. TFcon 2013 features Canada's largest dealer room for Transformers merchandise, question and answer panels and autograph sessions with many special guests including Transformers voice actor DICK GAUTIER the voice of RODIMUS PRIME with more to be announced. The TFcon 2013 hotel block is now available. |
