Zap2It has posted an interview with the legendary duo; Peter Cullen and Frank Welker from the Grand Opening of Transformers: The Ride - 3D, Universal Orlando. If you missed our coverage, you can find it right here.
Speaking to Zap2It, Mr. Cullen spoke a bit about Optimus Prime's redesign for the upcoming Michael Bay movie; Transformers 4: "I'm always fascinated by the design changes because what could be more realistic than something that transforms and can change itself," Cullen told Zap2it. "And cars change every year. They come off the design tables and the clay models and before you know it you've got a brand new look to a car. I like it that way. I'm excited to find out what Mr. Bay is going to do for the next look. After all, he's always going to look like that [the Optimus Prime statue on Transformers: The Ride 3D]. He's always going to transform into something pretty close to that." Meanwhile, Mr. Welker is waiting to see if he'll return for the 4th installment: "Yet to be determined," Welker admitted. "I'm not sure. I did the last two. I'm waiting to see and usually I don't know until the very end, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what Michael does. He always outdoes himself, so he's got big shoes to feel when he's got to fill his own shoes. It will be a lot of fun to see what he comes up with." Peter Cullen also talked some emotionally powerful words about the Franchise: "Being a part of it, that's what is the phenomenon now," he said. "We go back and our involvement has transcended all these generations: child to father and child to now the theme parks, from Singapore to Los Angeles to now Orlando. The phenomenon of 'Transformers' itself is mind shaking. Being a part of it is not only historical, it's a part of your life that says, 'Gee, I'm glad. I did something in my life that stood out,' and I'm really grateful for that. Humbled by it." Rightly said, sir... we couldn't agree more. |

Mastermind Creations has updated their new website with teasers for their next few upcoming projects. Continuing on with their flower-named Fembot figures in their Reformatted line, we have teasers for R-10 Eupatorium (An Elita-1 homage) and R-11 Salvia Prominon (Appears to be Solus Prime, based on weaponry). We also have our first teaser of the sixth member of the Feral Rex team, R-07 Felisaber which has been explained to be a homage to G1 Pretender Catilla. Felisaber will be able to form an arm for Feral Rex, leaving their Talon figure to be attached directly to the back of Feral Rex.

The Takara-Tomy Youtube channel has uploaded a trailer of the direct to DVD animation for Transformers Go! The trailer shows shots of the three Samurai in action as well as showing Budora - the red version of Grimwing being released for the Go! line - transforming giving a decent look at his new head design.
The trailer also shows some of the cel animation used for the human characters, including in one brief shot the second human teen protagonist and what looks like a cameo of the Shinobi team behind him. Check out the trailer below: |

Snakas of Autobase Aichi has shared some interesting screen captures from a DVD that was given away with the latest Transformers Happy Meal promotion (called Happy Set in Japan). The DVD contains an introduction and summary of all current Japanese Transformers lines including Transformers GT and Transformers Go, and it is the Transformers Go section which yields some interesting new images. Shown in this segment is a black (presumed prototype) Goradora / Beast Hunters Abominus, along with group shots of the Predacons and the Japan-exclusive Autobots. The Predacon grouping is particularly interesting, since it provides a clear look at the robot modes of all four Predacons coming in the Japanese line, including a slightly fuzzy look at their new head sculpts. Grimwing's Japanese version Budora looks particularly impressive, in his red, gold and black deco.

Also covered are Masterpiece Prowl, due September, and the Generations Japan Orion Pax VS Megatronus two pack.

Fresh from the on-location filming of Transformers 4, a possible bit of casting news! Transformers 4 is presently filming on location in Lockhart, Texas. A pair of photos posted on Instagram by Nicole_4_Eva have revealed that actor Titus Welliver is presently on set with Jack Reynor and Mark Wahlberg. Titus is known for his roles as Jimmy O'Phelan in Sons of Anarchy and Glenn Childs in The Good Wife, and the movies The Town and Argo, amongst other roles - see a full list of his credits here.
Why is Welliver on set, and what might his role be in Transformers 4? Right now, we know nothing - there had been no previous hints that Titus Welliver would be in Transformers 4. As more information comes to light, we will share it with you. |

For our next gallery update, we bring you a look at one of the newest E-Hobby exclusive sets. For their most recent release, E-Hobby took Generation 1 Soundwave and Blaster along with their cassettes Rewind, Ramhorn, Ratbat and Slugfest and redecoed them as their mirror universe Shattered Glass alter-egos. The set also adds Solarbot, a new character from the Rewind mold who features clear plastic.
The individual figures have some sharp decos - Soundwave looks excellent in white, and Blaster's "evil" deco really works with the mold especially with the way the head and face is realized. The cassettes, meanwhile, look phenomenally cool in their new decos, from Ratbat's Batman inspired colors to the red and white on Rewind. They are great redecos of the cassettes who stand alone, apart from the whole Shattered Glass theme, and just look great. Overall, this set is Shattered Glass "done right", using the mirror universe concept as a springboard to offer fans some great new versions of the Generation 1 toys. If you're a fan of E-Hobby's previous exclusives or looking for a place to start collecting this fun subset of Transformers collectibles, you could do a lot worse than checking out this set. Start your journey by having a look at our galleries, brought to you by TFW2005 site owner Tony_Bacala: Shattered Glass Blaster Gallery Shattered Glass Soundwave Gallery Shattered Glass Ramhorn Gallery Shattered Glass Ratbat Gallery Shattered Glass Rewind Gallery Shattered Glass Slugfest Gallery Shattered Glass Solarbot Gallery |

From one group of cassette minions to another, our next gallery update is of the Autobot Data Disks! These four were released as the second assortment of Generations Legends class two-packs, and are designed to go with Voyager class Blaster in the same way that the first wave's Decepticon Disks were intended to complement Soundwave / Soundblaster.
The assortment gives Blaster his remaining three minions - Rewind, Eject, and Ramhorn - as well as a fourth new minion, Sunder, who is a redeco of Laserbeak based on the Kiss Players Position character Sundor. He fits right in with the team thanks to his bright colors, and also his bio making him very much a part of the team. The four toys are not exceptionally poseable, but they make up for it with their fun autotransform gimmick. Open the links below to check out our galleries of the four, and if you like these, why not check out our galleries of the Decepticon Data Disks, Soundwave, Soundblaster and Blaster? Courtesy of the Facebook page of online store edbomberToys, we have a look at a potential redeco of the FansToys Quakewave aka the unlicensed Masterpiece style Generation 1 Shockwave. The image shows a Quakewave in a washed out grey deco with a red optic, which is reminiscent of the original Astro Magnum toy that Shockwave was derived from, as well as the RadioShack "Shackwave" of the 1980s.
Given that this is one of the few established alternate decos of Shockwave, which was homaged by Transformers Animated, it was perhaps a foregone conclusion that this might eventually come to pass. None the less, this is confirmation that yes, this deco appears to be happening to this unlicensed toy. |

A more detailed synopsis for episode 10 of Transformers Prime Season 3, Beast Hunters, has been posted on TVGuide. This extended synopsis reveals who the "Minus One" the title refers to is, as well as alluding to a new Decepticon plan which given what we have heard of episodes 11 and 12, may well figure into the Transformers Prime finale.
Highlight the text below to read the summary: Soundwave is captured by the Autobots; Megatron revives an old plan. Minus One is scheduled to air on 5 July, 2013, at 7:30 pm EST on Hub Network. |

Amazon Japan has updated their pages for Transformers Go Hunter Smokescreen and Bakudora with official images. From these images we can see Hunter Smokescreen will have a much more show accurate look right down to the red stripes on his head, but it seems like he will not have a silver face. Bakudora the Ripclaw redeco looks particularly cool with a red and metallic blue deco
The images also give us a good closeup of the new head. |
