An interesting piece of Masterpiece Ultra Magnus news just surfaced via Kelvin Chan's Facebook page. Kelvin Chan will be providing the art for the booklet included in the Hasbro Asia release of MP Ultra Magnus. Let's get right to what's been said:
Okay, I can FINALLY reveal my secret now. The work that I did for Hasbro was working on the booklet for the Hasbro release of MASTERPIECE ULTRA MAGNUS. This toy is scheduled to be released in Hasbro Hong Kong's markets first on December 27, with the Australian release being April 2015. It looks to be exclusive to Toys R Us. Price will be AU$299.99 SKN 086323 Although not much is known about this artist, the information given is worth noting as a rumor for now. For speculation's sake: could this mean a US release is coming for Masterpiece Ultra Magnus? Although at this time this is our only source of any effort by Hasbro to release Magnus, this cooperative effort between Hasbro's Hong Kong and Australian branches could bode well for a US release later in 2015 or 2016. Although it should be noted this is again purely speculative. Mark it as a rumor, but join in on the ongoing discussion with the discussion link below! |

Troubling news comes to us via our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store. Masterpiece MP-23 Exhaust - who is based on the Diaclone "Marlboro" Wheeljack - apparently cannot be sold legally in the USA.
The problem comes from the fact that Exhaust uses a shape on his design - the rectangle with a triangular portion removed from the bottom - which is alleged to infringe the trade dress of Marlboro & Phillip Morris USA. Under the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement, these marks cannot be used on products that could be intended for children. (You could make an argument for Exhaust being an "adult collectable" as he is a part of the high-end Masterpiece series, but ultimately the wider Transformers brand is targeted at children, and there's where the "could be intended" part swings in and catches this one). The upshot of all this is that Big Bad Toy Store has been asked to remove listings for Exhaust, and have complied - anyone who preordered has been transferred to a non-public listing on the off chance that Takara-Tomy alters the deco; should this not happen (and this fan thinks it is unlikely) Big Bad Toy Store will refund preorders as they, and potentially other USA based online retailers, will not be able to sell Masterpiece Exhaust in the USA. Read on for the full text of the email update from Big Bad Toy Store. |

Mastermind Creations has shared new images on their Facebook page of an upcoming product. This time, we get our first look at their interpretation of the IDW original comic character Cynicus AKA Vos of the Decepticon Justice Division! These new images show this deluxe sized figure in robot mode and sniper rifle mode. In sniper rifle mode he can be wielded by Mastermind Creations' Feral Rex figure. Lastly, this figure can remove his face just like the comic character does to tortute rogue Decepticons!
Check out the images after the break! |

Via Autobase Aichi's Facebook feed, we've got some nice official images to share with you of the Takara-Tomy Q Transformers. On show here we have official images of the first waves of both the movie series and also the Generation 1 series.
Each of the figures transforms from a cutesified version of their robot modes into Choro Q versions of their vehicle modes. This is a fitting bit of parallelism, since over 30 years ago before Transformers got started, some of Takara's earlier transforming robot toys were Choro Q vehicles in their Micro Change line - which would eventually become the Generation 1 Minibots. That means the Generation 1 Bumblebee in this series has gone full circle! The Generation 1 series on show here includes Rodimus, Prowl, Sideswipe and Bumblebee. The Movie series includes Optimus Prime, Crosshairs, Lockdown and Bumblebee. These first two waves of figures are due out next month, in December 2014. |

We've got another great new Generations toy gallery to share with you. This time out, we have a gallery of a Headmaster and the Lost Light's mad scientist in residence - Brainstorm!
Generations Brainstorm does a grand job of updating the chunky original Generation 1 Brainstorm and his boxy proportions with a more modern and decidedly less boxy appearance, based on the More than Meets the Eye comic. It gives Brainstorm a very striking silhouette - this toy looks extremely good in both modes! Brainstorm is also fun to fiddle with. As with most modern toys, he lacks waist articulation, and his wrists do not rotate, but everything else is there - including ball-jointed head articulation, which is cleverly incorporated into the Headmaster gimmick. Arcana has limited articulation when he's not being Brainstorm's noggin, with just his arms and head (!) being poseable. One word of warning - watch the blue-green paint on Arcana's legs, it seems to chip very easily. Overall, Brainstorm looks great and is fun to play with. He's one of the most dynamic looking Voyagers to come out what has been an excellent year for the size class, capturing the spirit of the character extremely well and generally being a good, fun toy. Be a smart robin and check out the gallery to see for yourself: Generations Brainstorm with Arcana gallery |

Bets testing for the Transformers: Rising (English Version) is now over. Shanghai based outsourcing sound studio GameAudioLab has revealed some info about the game's soundtrack and some samples. Hopefully they’ll release the entire game music album one day.
"Game Audio Lab worked on China’s #1 Transformers game: “Transformers: Rising”. With stunning music – mix of orchestral and electronic elements – and entertaining futuristic sound effects, our main challenge was to create a unique sound experience for gamers while keeping consistency with the existing Transformers’ audio identity. This challenge was accomplished within 3 months. “Transformers: Rising” is now one of the most played and famous mobile game over China, Hong Kong and Taiwai, with monthly revenue of 10 million RMB (approximately 1.67 million US dollars), marking the peak of DeNA China’s revenue of this year." |

Days of Deception begins with… PEACE AND HAPPINESS! To be honest, there's not much we can say about this issue without giving away the life-changing events of last issue. What we can say is this: everything’s fine. There’s no conflict, no sadness, no angst. Why is this a problem? |

TFW2005 translator SydneyY has come through one again, providing us with a translation of the recent Hironori Kobayashi interview supplied in the latest issue of Figure King. The interview mostly deals with Kobayashi's development of Transformers: Legends Arcee (The Takara release of Generations Deluxe Arcee)
For a brief summary of points discussed... • Kobayashi's background • How the idea for Arcee came to be • The development for Arcee • The process of working with Hasbro (she was originally intended to be remolded into a Blurr figure, but the idea was dropped) • Making sure Arcee looked like her cartoon incarnation • The differences between the Takara and Hasbro versions • Arcee's vehicle mode and the transformation process • Kobayashi's scratch-built Arcee and how it helped him get a job at Takara, plus how it influenced Legends/Generations Arcee • The possibility of a Headmaster Arcee being released in the future • The figures Kobayashi would like to see in the future Check out the full details after the break! |

Fresh off of the news yesterday about Masterpiece Grimlock's release in Germany, we have more sightings news regarding everyone's favorite dinosaur, this time being a retail release in Poland. According to TFW2005 board member Wallas, this is actually the second wave of Grimlock's spotted, which hopefully bodes well for availability if you have not yet scored one. The push towards a wider European market release for these Masterpiece figures also hopefully spells good news for future releases and the ease of which to purchase them.
