I picked TFs to win it all, but I love SW more, and seeing how big of a blowout it is, I voted for SW.

I mostly collected SW and MOTU as a kid, but my vote went to Transformers without hesitation.

Yep, also voted TFs here. Loved SW the movies as a kid, but never had any of the toys. Definitely had TFs, though.

Holy Transformers is doing so much better than Star Wars. I had anticipated all the 40-50 year old Star Wars collectors would put their collective might to pick Star Wars but i guess those guys read other boards? Well there goes my chance a a $50 coupon at BBTS

I believe if we were strictly going on movies it would be SW by a land slide and like you said based on the toys we had as kids: TFs ftw

Well, in terms of toys, SW really got the whole smaller format rolling, but the toys themselves often weren't that great and broke easily. TFs certainly could break but since this was their second iteration for production, they were of course much better toys and had so much more to offer in terms of play. I was a huge SW kid, but as a toy in the 80s, TFs killed SW.

No question. Transformers. Back then I remember you had either an action figure or a toy car. They made it so you can have both!! A car that converts into a robot?!? What?!

C'mon people...it's Transformers. It's a toy that turns into a big freakin' robot! It's two toys in one!

Star Wars isn't even a true 80s toy brand and neither is Transformers if you think about it.
But kerduh Star Wars beats Transformers any day. I am sorry Yoda could pick up Optimus Prime throw him through Unicron and then Megatron, right after beheading Fortress Maximus.

I played with Star Wars toys more than Transformers when I was little. My dad hooked me up with VHS copies of Episode 4-6 and I rewatched them like crazy while playing with my Micro Machines Star Wars sets. I say Star Wars.

I guess Star Wars toys being released in 1977 (late) and Transformers being a line of toys cobbled together from Takara properties like Diaclone and Microman, which are '70s figures. Although Transformers as a name Brand wasn't released until 1984, so they qualify for sure.

I had to go with Star Wars. I had a lot of the figures when I was a kid, not so many Transformers due to price. I also did not like the fact that the transformers often did not look like their cartoon counterparts.

Transformers as a name brand and a toy line did not exist until 1984. Yes, some of the toys were re-used from previously-existing lines in Japan. But the concept, characters and show were all an American product created in '84. In Japan, Transformers (Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers) did not appear until 1985. And what's a "kerduh"?
