Last week I got the Disney infinity Tron figures, and they're really nice. But I was disappointed that Sam Flynn had a mask on his face. Well when I was looking at the figure last night, I realized the semi transparent visor wasn't glued on that well. And after some pulling, look what I found underneath!
Yes, they made an unmasked head! The sculpting must have been done before losing the likeness rights. But with a little bit of paint for the eyes and eye brows and removing some dried glue, it should look nice. What do you think?

That looks to me like a very generic face, hardly close to a likeness, but the blank features would probably benefit from paint.
I'm frustrated by the lack of interest in the Tron franchise. Granted, the last movie had its problems, but it also had great strengths, and there are lots of things that could be done to create a good story without blowing another $170Million on CG and SFX. One key element to my mind is the way Flynn aged inside the grid, while CLU did not. Will Quorra age outside the grid, and will she be restored if she returns? I could imagine a variety of stories related to that scenario, resembling the current activity of Sam and Dean as they come to grips with The Darkness in Supernatural. What are the ethical issues associated with people creating digital copies of themselves? How complete a copy could they make, and could that copy be returned to the real world? Mass Grid emigration might turn eventually into an exodus back to the metaphorical Promised Land, under the right leader, given the right motivation. Or what about an alternate Grid or Grids? Imagine CLU and our heroes working together against a new common enemy. (c) All rights reserved. Online webisodes hinted at plans for some kind of cult involving Flynn and his access to the Grid. It seems to me that this should be a central aspect of any new story. Everybody in a bad situation dreams of an easy escape. We have never seen detailed, screen accurate 6" figures from the Tron universe, have we? Last edited by Skoob; 11-02-2015 at 10:04 PM.. |
