If they get more licenses, then I'll be game. Otherwise, the two seem out of place in a see of knock off lines.

This looks awesome but word of warning to anybody who isn't familiar with modern videogames in the age of internet.
Ubisoft is notorious for putting out unfinished, bug-filled games on release day. They do this because they feel it's easy enough for the consumer to download a "game patch" on release day to fix any issues they overlooked during the game's R&D. But if your internet is down or you actually don't have net access, good luck trying to play your brand new game because Ubisoft's quality control is severely lacking. Videogames have become one of the most consumer-unfriendly entertainment industries today. They give you half-finished games for full-price and then proceed to charge you more if you want the "whole experience". |

This looks like it'll be awesome fun!
I'm wondering if transformers might make it in too, but no clue if those rights are tied up with other game companies right now anyway. GI Joe has no current mainstream games to worry about that on. Be really neat if MLP made it in too, or Teddy Ruxpin. Ooh! Or Gumby! |

why would they seem out of place if theres gonna be 4 famous armies in 1 vs 1 online battles like chess, most people are gonna play as gijoe, cobra, he-man armies or skelletor armies, so its gonna be gijoe vs gijoe and motu vs motu or gijoe vs motu most of the times, in either gijoe backgrounds or motu backgrounds depending on whos local and visit, all you will see is gijoe and motu stuff in the screen so why out of place, out of place would be if theres more than 1 armies in game but the game is about just 2 armies, and controlled by just 2 humans, its not like battlefield as people claim

This is a toy game, which has a see of generic soldiers, knock off Halo, knock off Rainbow Bright, a knock off MLP, etc. looks very odd next to fully licensed characters. If it's a greater mix of licensed and unlicensed things, then it prevents every battle being the same two popular teams (MOTU and GI Joe).
If there are only two licensed brands, then it's a game I'll skip. I'd prefer to see them either commit to the premise of it being a "toy box" full of actual licensed toys, or commit it to being toy-like and stick with the knock off lookalikes.

"If it's a greater mix of licensed and unlicenes things, then it prevents ever battle being the same two popular teams (MOTU and GI Joe)."
i dont get what you are saying there, are you trying to say motu and gijoe are almost never gonna meet? because the game has 8 armies, and 4 of them are motu and gijoe, and among those 8 armies most online players will choose those 4 motu and gijoe, so the chances to ALWAYS play gijoe vs gijoe, gijoe vs cobra, he-man vs skelletor, gijoe vs he-man, cobra vs he-man, cobra vs skelletor, he-man vs he-man, skelletor vs skelletor, and cobra vs cobra are HUGE chances the game is between 2 factions only, not all factions mixed, its just 1 faction vs 1 faction, so what is your problem? and this is a popular game that has 2 previous entries with generic toy soldiers, whats so bad with adding licensed toylines in the 3rd game? if you hate "imaginary licenses" then why do you hate this game and you dont hate the toy story movies then? this is a game famous for using imaginary toylines that is finally using real toylines, whats so wrong with that, its not out of place, the game is really fun and you are not gonna play it just because you are an order freak? lol |

I never heard of it until yesterday. The only reason I (and a lot of people) will have interest in it is because they used licensed characters. It's the only reason it's on our frontpage. Otherwise, I wouldn't give it a second look. I already see people saying they want to see different licenses. By adding licensed characters, they've opened the franchise up to a new audience. That new audience is going to want certain things out of the game for it to truly interest them. No need to get your knickers in a knot over my potentially not playing this.

It's certainley an interesting concept, but ultimately seems kinda half-assed. The "Two more licensed armies will be revealed at a later date" bit seems a bit missleading. Makes it sound like there could be two more licenses, when it's obviously just Cobra and Skeletor armies.
I kinda hope that they at least tried to get more licenses for this. Some of the brands I would want to see in this kind of a game, like Power Rangers and TMNT, might have been out of their reach in terms of licensing. Though only getting two licensed brands for this seems kinda odd. I'm sure there had to have been something else they could have gotten for this. That said, if they had gotten Thundercats instead of MOTU, I would find this game hard to pass on.

You don't seem to be grasping what I am saying. I am absolutely ok with adding licensed toys. I want them to add more. In fact, they need to add more if they want to sell me. What I am saying is that if the only licensed lines in this are MOTU and GI Joe, then those are the only two factions anybody is going to play as. Sure, you'll have the occasional person playing one of the other factions, but what fun is that when you can be He-Man or Duke?

Not sure why this thread took such a crazy turn....
I picked this game up last week for Xbox One and I have not put it down. I have completed most of the campaign with the first army (one of the Non-Licensed characters) and it is a lot of fun. I have not played any multiplayer, but will likely go that route once I have completed the campaign. I decided to try my hand with the Joe's last night and it is a much different feel. I really like the way the game plays, but I wish they would have embraced the licenses a bit more. I feel like the upgrades and weapons could easily be more directly tied to the toy lines instead of being generic toy upgrades like adding a Laser Pointer or "Dad's Lighter". Also it seems that everyone thought that Hooded character would be Skeletor, but it is actually Ezio from Assassin's Creed. If anyone else picked it up for Xbox One let me know and maybe we could have some multiplayer battles. |

Bump.
Anyone know what's going on with this game? Are there any plans for DLC to add to the roster? I've seen the latest trailer and the latest edition has been the characters from Assasin's Creed. Just like the LEGO games, this has potential to be a huge crossover event if they just get all the licenses for more iconic characters.
